1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: New York Rejects Bittrex Exchange’s BitLicense Application on: April 13, 2019, 12:03:49 AM
This is certainly terrible news a fraction of karma Bittrex had coming.

This couldn't have happened to a better more shady exchange.

I feel genuinely terrible not at all terrible about this.

I'm sure NY's reasoning contrasts the great edit:correctly-aligns reputation found by researching Bittrex

Lesson learned here is Bittrex reaps great rewards shits where they eat then asks for seconds.

Wow sorry about all the edits guys! Just couldn't spit out this taste in my mouth!

For those who might still have their crypto in limbo at Bittrex, I recently managed to get mine back without submitting any additional KYC.

I never submitted documents to Bittrex & held ground on principle of their original policies.

Basically, they will provide you a Jumio jump card (image) that you re-upload to them for every step during the KYC process.

I don't think the card itself actually does anything, it's just a step they claim is required.

I would not be surprised if they refuse to offer this to non-U.S. residents.

I would legally characterize their response as admitting fault.
3  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Error in bittrex to login on: January 25, 2018, 02:59:57 AM
He did post the error message and if you google the error message you can find some one else already posted a screen shot.

I would try a different web browser or computer, possibly related to captcha not loading.

Keep up the fight guys, file a complaint with the BBB if you haven't already.
5  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex ignores thousands of clients! on: January 12, 2018, 05:23:39 AM
GOT MY ACCOUNT SORTED THANKS TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU (BBB)

After 4 months of frustration and stress, tried everything no success to get my account enabled.  Someone mentioned the BBB https://www.bbb.org/en/us, were taking complaints and they would contact Bittrex. I went online and filled in the form, explained my situation, the BBB replied within few hours and they sent the complaint to Bittrex and within 48 hours, had my account enabled after 4 long months!!!. BBB sent me an email to see if my complaint was resolved satisfactorily. Thank you, Better Business Bureau for your help!! They already had over 100 complaints regarding Bittrex, 99% have been sorted. Try it out.

Wow, I never considered using BBB, they always seemed pointless.

I just checked, Bittrex has 177 (edit: now 222, edit: now 299) complaints in < 1 year, that seems pretty crazy. I'm sure 90% are actually within the last 6-8 months.

Is this what Bittrex really wants? Is for people to go through BBB instead of actually solving problems directly?

Kind of seems like it to me, as they still act like they haven't done anything wrong.

6  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Unofficial] Exodus Wallet | Multi-Currency | Built-in Exchange on: January 12, 2018, 03:46:13 AM
k, so here's why i've been confused, but maybe not anymore

- People keep saying the keys are generated from the phrase
- People seem to believe the keys don't exist until the phrase
- No one seems to understand the keys are generated prior to the phrase

(mind you, i'm not talking about exclusively here on the forums, i mean generally everywhere)

.. And I kept thinking, well how is Exodus capable of accepting deposits without (private) keys, since the backup process hasn't even been setup yet?

Your addresses (private-keys) are locally derived from the 12 word phrase that Exodus provides you when you backup your wallet.

This is where my thick headedness kicks in

The 12 word phrase is your backup and your keys are generated with them.

In my stupid brain, people keep saying the key is generated from the phrase (actually, that is what people keep saying) - but i think i understand now that both are one of the same.

I think the common misconception of the key not existing until the phrase is part of the problem.
7  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Unofficial] Exodus Wallet | Multi-Currency | Built-in Exchange on: January 12, 2018, 02:23:05 AM
If you don't setup the backup & you're depositing coins, is Exodus operating without private keys?
8  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Unofficial] Exodus Wallet | Multi-Currency | Built-in Exchange on: January 08, 2018, 07:08:57 PM
Your addresses (private-keys) are locally derived from the 12 word phrase that Exodus provides you when you backup your wallet. The email link (AFAIK) is also your word phrase but protected by both your passphrase and an Exodus 'key' (like explained in the page you linked). Your word phrase or private-keys isn't stored anywhere.

Sorry, little confused - Not sure if we're talking about different keys or not.

Are you saying without setting up the backup the wallet is functioning without private keys for deposited coins? - I'm curious as to how these keys are recovered with an online backup.
9  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Unofficial] Exodus Wallet | Multi-Currency | Built-in Exchange on: January 08, 2018, 06:17:57 AM
Can some one explain something for me?

"The private keys to your blockchain assets are generated and encrypted locally and stored on your computer. These keys are never stored on the cloud, and they remain 100% for your eyes only, 100% in your control."

If these keys are locally stored on your computer, how is an online-only recovery possible? How is losing the computer not a risk, or any local file to backup?

Are the keys not recovered with the e-mail link &/or 12 word phrase? (yes i'm aware you can export keys)

Throwing some possibilities out here:

(1.) They are thieves.
(2.) Government interference.
(3.) Blatant Incompetence.

To some degree combinations of the above (3) may be possible. At this point, I'm not sure that it couldn't be any of the (3) above.

(1.) If this is exclusively the case, what is their escape plan & when? - they would have to escape the country to avoid prosecution.

(2.) There may be a large, underlining investigation that we don't know about going on. Unfortunately the implementation of restrictions & barriers makes Bittrex liable, and thus the (potential) involvement behind it.

(3.) A "laughable" level of incompetence has been on display for a while now. So much so, that it reeks of reckless ego & lends to discrediting any government involvement conspiracy. Regardless of (1.) or (2.) - there is no disputing # (3.) - They may attempt to blame their verification provider Jumio, who has a bit of a tainted past. They could blame Jumio while claiming they had no choice but to abruptly implement KYC policies. That might be their only legal "escape" - However I do not see that getting them entirely off the hook. This could spend years in court. Someone at the helm thinks they are are smarter than everyone.

Just because you're from the U.S. doesn't mean you have an advantage on basic verification. U.S. residents failing basic too.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if being outside the U.S. is somehow inherently more difficult, I just haven't seen any evidence of a difference.

I think everyone might be in the same shit-filled boat.
12  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: November 26, 2017, 02:47:59 AM
Today I deposited some coins to sell. I did not use Bittrex for 8 weeks.

Now without prior notice I had to give them my address, name and birth date to be able to withdraw the Btc. If they had send me a mail where they explained their change of terms I would never have made this deposit.

You can not change the rules without sending a warning you fucking bitches!

I used an old address and a different name because why should I give them my real info? Crypto is anonymous.

They could not find the data in their public records and now they want me to upload a copy of my id card and a selfie.

I can't withdraw anything and I really don't want to give them this kind of sensitive information.

What the fuck!

It probably wouldn't have mattered anyway because I gave them everything they asked for, all accurate and true, and they still would not verify me. They just kept asking for more and more.  They more I gave, the more they wanted.  I finally had enough when they asked for the example I posted above.  They don't plan on releasing our funds ---> something very dark is taking place on Bittrex!

Same here, I gave them fully legit info & I still failed verification. Now they want copies of docs etc.

On a side note, anyone that talks positively of Bittrex while leaving out the amount of reported problems (or shadyness in arbitrary policy changes) is suspect.

I'm not saying people with positive experiences on Bittrex don't exist (although dwindling in numbers) but the lack of acknowledgement creates suspicion.

Pumping self-interest is constant on these forums, and Bittrex supporters shouldn't be an exception to scrutiny at this point.
13  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: November 25, 2017, 10:59:32 PM
Their third party validator, Jumio, couldn't verify the downloaded images....which is a bunch of bullshit! That's after their "third party" verifier couldn't verify my account from public records....which is even more bullshit!

Did some quick research,

Jumio filed for bankruptcy last year, was quickly acquired by Centana Growth Partners & from what i can tell both are paying for press release articles to spin themselves in positive light. It appears there's a noticeable shortage of organic positive reporting regarding either. Just money being pushed around.
14  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: November 21, 2017, 05:29:35 AM
As far as I can tell, there are (2) reasons bittrex may not be responding:

(#1) They are waiting for an answer that depends on something else*
(#2) They literally don't give a fuck about you.

* I don't have any evidence of #1, just speculation

- Lack of staff or amount of tickets is not the problem.

Certain people can get responses to a ticket multiple times a day, or every day, back to back - while (clearly) others do not get any priority.

If you're not getting responded to, they're intentionally not responding. If you haven't had any response at all, or over 30 days, you're probably fucked.

It's possible who they sleep with will hold off the cavalry for a while, but that will not last forever. They'll have more than enough to fight it though.
15  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HitBTC.com - The most advanced cryptocurrency exchange on: November 09, 2017, 05:45:26 AM
New user,

I deposited a small amount of btc to hitbtc and immediately withdrew.

My plan was to sell the btc and then pick up small amounts of altcoins.

Right after the deposit went through, I realize I can only sell 0.01 - which is apparently hitbtc's  "minimal step" (maximum bullshit)

That puts me at an immediate loss of ~$30 because I can't sell the remainder, and (i'm guessing) locks me into other problems/variables

wtf? did i miss something here? what happens if you deposit < 0.01 - throw money into fire pit?

Certainly seems like they are editing the "Withdraw Limits and Troubleshooting" article as time goes on:

"We could not match your information to our public record providers. To complete the verification process, you must apply for an enhanced account. "

I'm also getting this message despite providing verification information as exactly on my license. (Which is 100% up to date & legally correct.)

(of which i only did because i'd really like to get back what i deposited, and now i'm regretting giving to them since it failed anyways)

Signs of Bittrex incompetence is everywhere, clearly even with their "public record provider" - which is probably some form of equifax based on its shittyness.

18  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex : Name Mismatch on: November 01, 2017, 04:34:18 AM
Really starting to think people acting unaware of Bittrex problems are paid shills.

My simple recommendation: Open a support ticket and wait until you're dead.
19  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: October 29, 2017, 09:48:50 PM
even from:

- cashing out bfx tokens & converting back to btc

- interest made from lending btc

- cashing out bch converting to btc

- cashing out btg converting to btc

- *and* buying btc

I still haven't gotten back the amount of btc that was stolen from me on bitfinex.

Now they are kicking out the u.s. customers that were stolen from, real commendable.

That being said, at least i could withdraw, unlike bittrex who's locked up my altcoin after gladly accepting the deposit

pretty much fuck all of these exchanges & the bootlickers that promote them.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / No exchange, getting SegWit2x? on: October 24, 2017, 12:46:15 AM
How do you receive SegWit2x without having coins on an exchange?

Specific local client or setup? Something else?
