If understood correctly the whitepaper explains that in such dispute buyer is going to carry the weight by paying 2% mediation cost to UTRUST. Now imagine a large amount of value involved.. Not a pretty perspective to say the least.
I asked UTRUST what a strange policy they plan on using here but have not received an answer. Also nobody but one responded to my earlier post about it. Did anyone really take it in and have an opinion? Not a biggie to you?

And as their mediator is probably a real person it will be interesting to know what guidelines they follow and over time the reputation of dispute outcomes. Things like human error, benefit of doubt and partiality come to mind. I'm just curious how UTRUST is going to effectively protect buyers and not make money quite literally off their backs. Honestly, I wonder if Paypal had this exact policy implemented where a buyer pays mediation fee, would they be a great deal less popular.

I believe that if utrust gets mass adoption, it can bring more people to crypto world. With that effect, it can make a good bump for all cryptocurrencies.

After superficially exploring (read-only) crypto in recent months UTRUST seems to finally be a product with tangible real-world value to it. With my interest at peak I spent time reading parts of the whitepaper and it raises questions. For starters:

If both parties do not come to terms in 7 days, the buyer has the option to escalate the claim to a mediator. In this instance, a UTRUST operator joins the chat resolution and serve as mediator and arbitrator with final say on the dispute outcome. Proceeding with an escalation will incur a fee of 2% over the amount in hold if a buyer refund is issued by the UTRUST mediator.

What I understand is that the buyer is penalized even if innocent. Is it my level of English or intelligence?

Although the team does not seem to be very active in this thread it is nice to see that they are working hard behind the scenes by establishing valuable partnerships like these ones.

W know the idea of giving protection fo funds for buyers and sellers is a good idea and something that is needed in the cryptocurrency world, because the anonymity of the blockchain, one wrong move and you could lose your money, so utrust can help with that , but all of this is almost nothing if trust doesn't get partners where we could use the platform, I hope they announce them soon .

Only if a mediator is needed. If e.g. the seller admits they made a mistake you will receive 100% of your funds back (in fiat). Should the case require a mediator, there will be an additional 2% (on top of the 1%) that will be deducted from the refund (in fiat).


All of our funds are actually already allocated and having a large team (including 15 engineers) costs real money, particularly if you are planning on paying them for several years to get your product out of the door.


This is a very interesting question and we will release more information on this within the next week as well. It is probably going to be more than 12%, I can tell you that. I can leave you with the knowledge that our legal team in Switzerland is very high profile and knows what is required to give UTRUST the legal foundations required. 👍

The way I read it, there will be an additional fee of 2% on top of any other fees. I think that 2% fee is used to (partly) cover the cost of the UTRUST operator.
