1  Economy / Auctions / Auction for nostalgia ( Butterflylabs 5GH japaleno miner ) in working order on: September 26, 2022, 09:18:31 PM
Hi,

As fun for nostalgia I'm offering my old Butterfly labs ( 5GH japaleno) probably one of the first asic miner on the market for sale.
It is still in perfect working order.
Probably most people threw it in the trash long ago , but as miner there is some value in nostalgia on the times we got scammed by companies for a good reminder to us all when they didn't deliver as promise or even went bankrupt and didn't deliver our products.

Let's see how many people like nostalgia and bid away  Grin.

4  Economy / Computer hardware / [For sale ] 6 x black arrow X3 units [ EU - NL ] on: December 05, 2014, 08:11:03 PM
Hi,

I am selling my X3 units, units have been mining without any hick up or problems for over more then a month now.
They have been running in a good cooled environment.

https://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/prospero-x-3.html

The units contain 6 x 2 U which is good for a total of 7TH +-

Paint on some units is a bit damaged due to the rack mounting of the racks I rent was not aligned well so had to push in the units a bit.

Willing to sell all units for 2200 euros or 6,4 BTC or make me a better offer.

Pick up locally in NL or shipping in EU.

Thanks

8  Local / Mining (Nederlands) / bitmain s2 problemen met i/o board on: June 09, 2014, 01:37:42 PM
Hoi,

Antminer doet nogal moeilijk over RMA .

Bedankt alvast

Pack your miners better please. Almost had a ruined miner.

Happily it is mining away at 1 Th/s after an hour. Please please please fix how you ship the S2, because cards shouldn't be sloshing about in transit.

Mine arrived way worse Tongue.. had to RMA at least 3 board .. still waiting for new boards.

Pics please!

Posted it earlier on the forum

One of my 5 batch 4 units looked similar to that, but luckily the unit works fine after reseating everything. I agree that Bitmain should change the design a but to prevent this from happening.

These units are so heavy that I bet dropping the box even 1 foot could cause boards to become unseated if it hits at the wrong angle. I'm sure UPS throws these boxes around a bit during shipment.

Unfortunately I am not that lucky, some transistors got banged off the boards so two of the boards are broken and one is reporting a lot of errors.
Will see what bitmain comes up with to replace these boards.

Well darn mine got pretty banged up by UPS again.
Even with the bars to keep the blades in place it still arrived messed up.

They need to put foam blocks between the blades preventing them from shifting about.
This will probably be the last time I order these as UPS seems to like playing football with them or something.

My recommendation.. DON'T power off your miner once it's running.
Damn thing gives you headaches to get it working again once powered off.
This is mainly because all transistors need to be clear of any power that's left through the system.
Even my platimax PSU had issues it needed clearing of the remaining power left in the capacitors  to get it working again.
It's really a shame they designed the power in such way and not connect the power to the board directly so the board would regulate the power and capacitors.
It cost me another hour to get things working again only to find the miner turn off again, so swapping modules around again to get things working.
With this I need to wait and wait for all power to drain from the power from the machine and try again  Cry
This happened when I tried to tune the miner with frequency setting 250, so my guess is tuning this system will only take more of your mining time then you want.

Some photos of the KnCMiner data center...

Fuck KNC and how they screwed their customers.

Wonder how much hash rate will drop if their DC would go offline Wink
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 19, 2014, 09:14:23 AM

Found my culprit with the faulty antminer.
Seems one of my slots doesn't report any temperatures when a module is running in it.
This makes the fans go haywire and probably trip a security thing in the antminer it self or the PSU

so running with 1 blade less works fine?

Yup no problems yet.. though missing out on some gigahashes now :/

On a side note found it not to be the slot it was mining in but one of the cards tripping the PSU protection.
It either looks like one of my miners needs more power then the power supply gives or one of the blades is faulty and tripping the surge protection.
I ordered a 1350W platimax enermax power supply to find out if this resolves it using all 10 blades
I have another antminer S2 which is running fine with the 1000W enermax powersupply but I think these 1000W power supply's are cutting it really close to max usage of the power supply and will probably end up frying it in the end.. not something I am looking forwards to.
On other thoughts I hate to spend another 250 euros to replace the power supply.

You say you have two units, have you tried one at a time by itself?

Yes one works fine .. unfortunately found the second miner off again this morning I was a bit presumptuous that my troubles where gone with this miner.
Will have to wait for my new PSU

I have one antminer S2 acting up.. runs fine for like 45 minutes but then powers it self off and can't power it on again for at least 10 minutes.
Something maybe faulty with a capacitor? or perhaps the PSU thats not able to actually hold the amount of power draw from the antminer?
Any advice?

Thanks

I think its the PSU, when removing all the boards and connections so only the PSU is connected the PSU won't power on either.. have to wait for at least 10 minutes to get it working again.
Damn I wished they kept with the platimax instead of the gold revision of enermax.
