As everyone is saying, it's not too late. At the moment, BTC is going up in advance of the potential hard fork events to possibly take advantage of splits. Maybe think about slowly buying a small amount of BTC each week or month to average out the market for you?
Also related to the upcoming potential hard forks, people seem to be selling their altcoins to bulk up their BTC. So the altcoin prices are going very low. Investigate some and consider buying them now while low. I'm investing in MRNG on novaexchange right now while it's low and we wait for the electrum and android wallets to be developed, at which point (and probably after the fork when things settle down), the price will rise.

Can someone here that is pro at bitcoin explain what is hardfork? im so lost.
Any explanation or link to explain what hardfork is appreciated.

Here you go, a Short Guide to Bitcoin Hardforks.The overview is that there has been an ongoing debate (argument) among developers of how Bitcoin should scale (or if it should scale) to accommodate greater transaction volume and greater transaction sizes. There have been multiple proposals. The only way for a new proposal to become active is for the developers to coordinate a date and time at which miners and node operators who agree with the changes to the code to decide to point their mining and transaction confirming activity to the new code, essentially a new blockchain. To ensure that people who own Bitcoin have the option to adopt the new version of the coin they will give you coins in the new version of the coins equal to the amount of Bitcoin you own at the time of the hard fork. One important stipulation is that if you don't own your private keys to your coins you can't guarantee you'll have access to the new currency. Some exchanges are offering to provide their users the new coins, but not all. Exchanges that honored payment of Bitcoin Cash during the August 1 hard fork were Bittrex, Freebitco.in, and very few others. Coinbase, for example, was not going to offer the new coins but decided to after public outcry after the fork. If my bitcoin is in Coinbase, I understand that I may not get equal amounts in the new Bitcoin Gold (and they haven't paid out their promised Bitcoin Cash yet). But is my original bitcoin safe in Coinbase during a hard fork? |

It will knock down all the bugs from the current MRNG wallet (Stuck blocks, not syncing, 0 nodes connected, confirmation too slow). It's a mandatory update for those who got MRNG since it's PoS  Is there an ETA for the new wallet release? Faucet is down, ANN thread rarely updated. As a consequence price is going down. I still think that listing the coin on nova was done too early. The faucet is community member run, the dev is working diligently on the electrum wallet and android wallet at the moment and focusing on completing that. Once that is done, interest will surge and free coin dumpers will be done. Those of us that believe in the project are in HODL mode and we'll be glad we did. Your patience will be rewarded. |

It's safe enough for small amounts of BTC, but if you have a substantial amount that don't want to risk losing for any reason, store it in a more secure off-line or hardware wallet.

Do like I do at the slot machines here in the old west...put a small amount you're willing to risk into it, exchange your original small investment back to fiat once you've made it back, then play with what's left and go up from there.

Not only can exchanges be hacked, but sometimes maintenance causes them to shut down for longer than you want, should you need access. Just use exchange wallets for daily trading.
