If the temperature is -20 in your area, why not put the miner in home to get some heating out of the miner?
The amount of heat output is not enough to heat an ENTIRE house. That really depends on many things: 1. The size of the house 2. How many miners you have 3. The temperature you want in the house For example I'm okay with around +15C in my room so even one miner would be enough to make me feel comfortable. Of course I live in a flat surrounded by another flats which are warm.... so maybe tha's why ... Yep, for the entire single house one miner is definitely not enough. You're seriously comfortable at 15C inside?  Are you wearing wool? ^^ |

Quite a good idea to be honest, I like the way you are saving money on heating and using that to run the bitcoin miner, very efficient  I disagree that. It is not efficient simple reason that miners will not earn money back because difficult level rising all the time and when you use example 1000w keep miners running you will get only 1000w heat. If you use air source heat pump you will get 2000-6000W heat per one 1KW so it is much more efficient for heating than running miners. So you have to spend 2-6times more electricity when using miners compared heat pump or other efficient heater to heat house for same temperature. Keep that mind when doing calculations. I see your point, but you can't really compare the two. Sure, if your goal is to use as little electricity as possible to heat your house, then there are more effective ways. Insulating walls, roof, windows and burning wood comes to mind. Throw in a heat pump in the mix and you're good to go. But, if you eitherway are going to mine, its more efficient to use the heat, instead of just pumping it out of the house. This is how I do it: Family and friends are heating their houses with 1000-2000W electrical heaters. So I replace their heaters with miners. I pay half the electricity. They get: Same heat for half the electricity price. I get: Location to host miner, half price on electricity. This is how you ROI a miner today  |

I'm also heating a house with miners, if u wanna check it out here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfmfdEjRkWUI badly need to insulte the room because of noise with the S7's, would you insulate the room in the video, or create a box like you did, inside the room instead? Do you know the amount of dB your setup makes? Thanks Nice set-up! Insulating the room would be easier but prob would still be louder than enclosing the S7s with an insulated box. The box is more of a hassle having to cut ports for the air to come out and air going in but would enclose the sound to a smaller area. Either would work good. Just make sure the insulation is both fireproof and sound reduction. I did not have a dB meter to test the difference but it is incredibly quieter! (10x quieter) goodluck! whatever you end up doing please take pics! Came up with a redneck solution instead, has killed the high-pitch sound, so its not a problem anymore. What I did was basically make sure all the miners get direct cold air from the outside, which made the temps go down. so what my best option to power one of these. i have a 240v 30amp circuit available.
was looking at there power supply and it seems to be efficent but didn't know if there is a better and cheaper option?

Bitmains PSU is the best for the purpose IMO. If you go for a standard ATX PSU with 1300W+, its gonna be huge, expensive and "hard to work with" aka messy. |

So we have installed a bunch of S7's on our network along with our existing SP35's. Every time we power on the S7 racks our whole network goes to shit....We have >150 SP35's and just installed >200 S7's. They are all static IP's on our 10.x.x.x VLAN. We've got layer 3 switches, and Pfsense router that can handle over 8 million simultaneous connections..... I don't understand what the ants could be doing to cause such havoc... Any thoughts would be appreciated. Day 3 of no sleep trying to figure this out....
Whats the hardware specs on the router? What switches do you have? I just did a wireshark capture of the traffic from a miner. It basically just sends traffic back and forth the pool, and occasionally some ntp traffic. So no broadcast noise or anything like that. I'm gonna put my money on crappy switches You could try seperating the miners into smaller groups on their own VLANs, and if possible balance some of the load from the different VLANs onto different interfaces on the PFsense router. Do you have a topology drawing? I'd love to help you out if I can. |

It is sure now that the YES Miner folks are a scam! So, could you guys post ur hashrate and temperatures?
I'm pretty sure you get lower hashrates if your temps are below 45-50C.
At the moment, some of my S7's are getting cooled by direct -17C outdoor air, which keeps the temp on the boards at 33C (Thats what the sensor says anyway.., not sure if this is accurate when getting blasted by -17C air). The hashrate avg is 4.7TH/s @ 625Mhz
Some other S7's are "cooled" with indoor air, which keeps the temp on the boards at 65-70C, these are hashing at 4.99TH/s avg. @ 625Mhz.
The ones cooled by outdoor air used to hash at 4.99TH/s as well.
Conclusion:
Board temps below 45-50C = Bad? ^^

If this is true, I would kill for this opportunity. If you truly have free electricity, it's a no brainer in my opinion. I would probably invest in S7's, you get warranty, better GH/J, and more GH/m2. If you are not limited by m2/squaremeters, and could get used S5+ from a trusted source, it would probably be a good idea to get some, as they probably give better GH/$. Surely you have a limit on your free power? In that case I would go for the S7's. Btw, if this real, I want in.  |

If you get good units, they will probably last "forever". Nice setup in ur pictures. The only tip I got would be to not strip/tape the power extentioncords together like you have in your picture. Getting 30 S7's in there, and putting them together like that would probably generate some heat! Happy new year! nothing last forever, every HW is subjected to thermal stress, and they have a precise lifespan, this si the case for gpu too, even if well cooled after some years they will break "forever" as in as long as they are practical to run! |

Price of import = sale price of items (or fair value) + shipping ACTUAL cost. The amount you were charged for shipping was possibly less than it actually cost to ship, meaning the declared value comes out higher. + exchange variations.

Something weird happend today.
4/6 miners lost connection to antpool, probably around the same time. 1 of the 4 are hosted in another part of town, with another ISP aswell.
All the miners have the same config.
The GUI also reported that they where hashing at 300 GH/s (S7's), with no alive pools.
After a quick reboot they are back at 5TH/s.
FYI.
Edit:
The two that didn't lose connection, kept hashing as normal @ Antpool during all this.
PS: I could hear _1_ single beep from the miner before this happend. Kinda sounded like the same alarm you get when you lose internet connection, except it was aborted after the first beep.

Also, just get quality PSU's, that can run 1 miner per PSU. This also makes the miner more stable IMHO.

EVGA 1600 G2
Bitmain's PSU.

I kind of lost track. What was batch 4 rated at? And if it was a 4.6 miner what was the 4.8 batch that was selling along side? Was it batch 5 or batch 3?
