You all do realize that bitpay, instabit or whatever third party system that we used to pay for assembly DID NOT transfer BTC to steamboat.  Instead the 3rd party converted BTC to USD and sent USD to steamboats bank/merchant account. Unless you worked out a personal BTC transfer to steamboat ( eg you did NOT use LSD.com to pay) for assembly/shipping/hosting you should expect USD as the refund medium - NOT BTC because steamboat did not receive BTC, he received USD from the 3rd party.

Steamboat - at this time due to your lack of communication and ability to bring closure, I recommend to the remaining group buy victims that they request their miners be ship without ASICs. I expect the heatsink, fans, cables and other parts to be included. The PCB should be completely assembled minus the ASICs and otherwise functional.  I believe this will bring closure both emotionally and legally to all parties. I personally would settle for just a shipping cost refund but you are clearly not communicating with us.

I will give the community a few days to respond before I send a formal email asking for my 33 non-ASIC miners.

Does anyone have K16's running with a killawatt meeter? Pics or it didn't happen! We are looking for Mhz you are running the K16s at + GHs + watts at the wall (from the killawatt meeter).

If you are chaining K16(s) off your computer PSU(power supply unit), then just take a reading with/without the K16(s) running (unplugged preferably) - this should get us in the ball park. Yes I know cgminer will load up the computer CPU resulting in more wattage draw, but it shouldn't be by much.

Just in case: https://www.google.com/#q=killawatt

https://tradehill.com/auctions

Zero bids so far - sorta makes me happy/sad at the same time.

Bottom line is even these gen2 55nm chips from avalon can't even hold up to current bitfury 55nm chips

AVALON 55nm GEN2 1.5-1.6 GH/s    2.0W
BITFURY 55nm ASIC chips, Demonstrated performance 2.7 GH/sec @ 0.835V (0.8W/Ghps) (quoting this link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=266235.0 )

For BOTH of the above estimates I have not seen real life 'proof' of values. However, in any case buying form these Avalon G2 chips seem stupid unless they are almost given away for free ( or a perfect drop in replacement for the 110nm chips).

The sad part for me is that I was hoping for an awesome gen2 pin/chip compatible to solder on to my over $4k pre ordered K16 boards. I hear these G2 chips require board modifications! ( can the steamboat camp confirm this? ).   In any case I project these new chips would need to come down to about 5BTC per 500chips (now - as in now now before next 100mill diff jump) just to have a potential breakeven on ROI with my pre ordered $4k k16s.

Other thoughts - can we mount BITFURY chips on the K16s?

I will post again after a good night sleep.....

Updated the sheet Sad

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ah7ZJVoobFY7dDRGQk1kdmJmaUJwZENKZUdNejJlWEE&usp=sharing#gid=0

- Changed the BTC sum from x14 days to 12days. In reality its closer to 10days. ( this make the sheet look better than whats going to happen)
- Increased 4.5GH to 5.0GH due to FW fix

* left the deltas at 'last delta + 5mill' - This is optimistic, I am hopeful the increase will slowdown.

Cliff notes:

 - 1 board will hit hardware/power break point (40watt/$100BTC-.15kWh) in ~Jan 2014, making a sum of .348BTC(not including power costs)
 - 1 board at (40watt/$200BTC-.15kWh) in April 2014 will make you $.04 a day after power coasts. ( or a total from now until April of 0.42108BTC not including power)

 * if you are currently mining you would make 0.0768BTC this round ( this is > 20% of the total potential income from the boards).  So IMO start mining ASAP

damn - difficulty already at 346,612,192 with 943 blocks left.  We may break 100mill difficulty jump this round  Shocked
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 18, 2013, 11:45:27 PM
Very interested in the wattage draw. Also, can you post some pics of the miner?
8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 17, 2013, 12:01:13 AM
dude we are a bunch of suckers, we spent thousands on something we havent recieved yet that isnt even worth half what they are when we bought them, I think the only hope we have is that the BTC price skyrockets as difficulty increases

I question your logic. I can not give you a proper example of what our 'hope' should be, but I can guarantee that as BTC price skyrockets the more mining hardware will be produced and more 'older' hardware will continue to run, thus increasing difficulty. These things do not benefit us (what am I missing?).  Furthermore, a BTC price increase is a direct slap in the face to us because if we had just held on to the coins instead of buy chips/boards we would have more wealth.

Sorry ionstorm I don't mean this as an insult to you. I am just total disappointed and depressed.  I should probably not even post this but I am wondering if there actually is a silver lining that I am missing? – currently I don’t see any Sad

PS I am updating 'the sheet' Sad

Update - that was a 78,450,000 jump in 10 days!  Angry
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 16, 2013, 02:56:41 AM
Waiting until the AM to update the sheet but ~.5BTC per-board-lifetime looks about right  Sad

Good god - I guess I need to adjust my estimates Sad

Next Difficulty in 169 blocks @ 259,083,877

any idea how screwed I am with 128 chips?  Looking at mining calculators looks like I'll only make $700 in a year, am I way off or is the calculator flawed?
http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/e41625025c
I doubt the percentage will remain 100%+ per month, but im new to this, any updated predictions guys?

The link calculates oddly to me, perhaps I'm missing something.  It assumes you will solve a block? ( which in therory is possible along with being hit by lighting and wining the lottery in the same minute) and oddly works backwards to calculate profit? In any case I have found these calculators to be unreliable because they have a hard time taking into account variable 2 week difficulty jumps. For best results calculate a daily/24hr BTC return for a difficulty, then multiply it out based on your own predictions.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ah7ZJVoobFY7dDRGQk1kdmJmaUJwZENKZUdNejJlWEE&usp=sharing#gid=0
in green shows a BTC SUM earned based off a 25mill delta adding 5mill to the delta every 'round' (~2 weeks). It was started mid September and at the time everyone thought I was over estimating how bad it would be. The red(ish) section shows what has occurred, and I will update again shortly. Since the original green post, the difficulty delta as been nearly spot on (over estimated by less than 1mill last round), but this round I was way off! Instead of 45mill jump we are getting over 60mill and we still have ~1.5 days left in this round. I believe this jump is mostly due to KNC, others still to come.  I expect the next round delta to be 60mill + 5mill  and this linear first derivative should hold as a base line 'lower limit' through March ish of next year.

Troll and ignored - that's just ridicules at this point
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 12, 2013, 12:16:42 AM
"Mine at a loss".  Now that's a winning business plan.

It's a "lose-less" business plan, as opposed to the "lose-more" business plan of just selling them.  This assumes of course you could offload these bad boys on the next spike of bitcoin interest.

True, If I'm to sell 5 miners now I'd be lucky to get 5 BTC for them. I wouldn't wanna pay more than 3 BTC for the lot if I was buying.

"Mining at a loss" doesn't mean you're running your rigs, using power and getting no returns. Even if so, and this is the worst case scenario.. a $1/day on electricity isn't gonna risk your ars going bankrupt. But if you lose $356/year, and still make yourself 0.01 BTC/day that's 3.56 BTC, which in a year (I Hope) would be worth $500... Better than selling them now for a total of $400 isn't it??

Well you had me at .01BTC/day - but that's where your wrong.
per - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ah7ZJVoobFY7dDRGQk1kdmJmaUJwZENKZUdNejJlWEE&usp=sharing#gid=0
(the red section below the green) clearly shows that if you have miners by next difficulty you will be @ .0096 per day.
How fast until say .005? well this sheet, which has so far under predicted difficulty (eg real difficulty is worse than sheet originally predicted), shows that should happen in ~5 difficulty jumps (~55days)  so like December some time. Also the sheet shows a running total at the bottom of the red section - you would be hard pressed to ever get 1BTC out of one rig before end of life.

nice 8.5gh - should return about 1BTC before power/reward break point.   Wink
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 28, 2013, 10:30:55 PM
....
Not "everything". In his hypothetical scenario, chips, electricity, and shipping are free. I infer that means the assembly and boards themselves are not.

Thanks cpengr - that's correct, assumes we still have to pay for assembly and BOM.
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 28, 2013, 10:17:17 PM
I hate to keep being Debbie Downer but I am confused as to why some of you don't seem to understand the current situation. As of right ‘now’, even  if you got the chips for free, electricity for free, SB shipped the boards for FREE, you WOULD NOT make ROI.  In fact if someone came up to me TODAY with a fully functional (as in 4.5GH with no hardware errors) K16 board and asked $80 for it - I would not buy it at this point.

Again - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ah7ZJVoobFY7dDRGQk1kdmJmaUJwZENKZUdNejJlWEE#gid=0

Realistically if you start mining today, a K16 might produce 0.5BTC before it hits electricity/reward break point.

I will update again after this next roll, but 14days is gone Sad

-Update - how's that for an update?
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 20, 2013, 03:00:59 AM
Unlike the noobz that post 'received funds and <BATCH NUMBER(s)>'  I will post properly, hopefully the rest will follow along. (This way we can better gauge where we are in the 'queue' )

I received my refund - my initial refund request was placed ~Friday Sep. 6th.

P.S my refund happens to include chips from B1 & B3  Wink

P.P.S http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohXI3po8hK0

update:
For those posting that they've gotten their refunds, would you mind posting when you requested the refund? Might be a useful nugget of info for those waiting for refunds...

^^ just read back through the wall of text and saw this cardcomm, and yes I have silently been wanting to punch bitches in the ovaries for not posting the date of refund request. I honestly thing the majority don't understand the refund system, sadly those that have not already requested are now truly thrustfully boned.
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 19, 2013, 12:42:29 AM
A confirmation of chip refund request 'received' and a queue guesstimate would calm my nerves.
    - again 260 B1 + 268 B3 REQUESTING REFUND
I submitted my request ~Friday 6th September PLEASE ADVISE.
~As of this post I have NOT received an email to confirm or deny the request~
