I always wonder how these people feel after weeks, months, or years pumping a dream only to have it shut down. Moreover, shut down from a person and not product market fit.

I doubt it. I won't comment on its usefulness of a technology but as a crypto currency it seems useless. It is super centralized, the nodes are selective, and it touts a 3s transaction time yet any major credit card is faster than that.

I know this is late but 1. Ether is great gift idea and 2. if you want to use bitcoin, find a segwit address to keep the fees low.

Have you tried Shapeshift? I believe I saw it on there once.

It seems more and more scam like after the sale. I wouldn't use it but I'd look for alternatives to getting the funds out.

I would recommend keeping your funds off of an exchange and in your own wallet. While the odds of a hack are low it is much lower if your funds in your own wallet and even lower if it is in cold storage or on a hardware wallet.

I forget who was doing the presentation, Willy Woo? but they went over the alt market vs holding ether or bitcoin and out of all of the ICOs and tokens on the market in 2017, most under performed. I question how many alts are actually worth it and which ones will survive.

Ripple. Both are overvalued at the current moment but at least Ripple has a product beyond a white paper.

Let us know how this goes (transaction proof). I would love to see more real world transactions take place to show the need for an ERC 721 token of a large assets like a hotel.

I doubt it will die but it should consolidate. With the SEC regulations on the horizon, I doubt we'll continue to see a ton of ICOs with little to show for it. The ICOs that will launch will have a testnet version or something on the mainnet. Additionally, the tokens need to have an actual use beyond fundraising.
