Hi guys,

I also managed to get a p2pool node running. Don't let Monacoin mining end up centralised on two or three big pools. (coz of 51% attack and stuff).

another thing, does anyone know why shapeshift stopped exchanging monacoin?

Thanks, i just got a new rig i will try the pool
Hello, I also wanted to use not a large pool, I am using coinfoundry.org to mine MONA, I have 105.3MH/s Hashrate with 2x GTX1080 but not getting a lot on return....

Bitflyer, the largest Japanese Exchange, is coming to Europe after a successful registration in the US.

It could be potentially be good for MONA as it is listed on Bitflyer in Japan and may also be offered to European and American investors versus fiat!

That's a great news!!!

MONA is still in green against BTC, I am very happy with that, and confident for the future!

While NEM & MONA are interesting cryptocurrency, i wouldn't invest my money on any cryptocurrency which only focus on specific country.
But, i'm sure once majority users adopt SegWit and use LN, i think Japan crypto community will consider accept BTC beside NEM & MONA.

Yes of course, BTC will be accepted as long as fees drop

Right now the fee stands at 510 Sat/Byte, which is lower than what we had two weeks ago (1,000+ Sat/Byte). But even now, close to $50 is needed as transaction fee for an average transaction and the situation is not very viable. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why the dominance of BTC has dropped to 38% from the level of 61% which we had a month before.

In Japan, you can already pay in some stores with BTC, but MONA is developing, and several cryptos can co exist it is not a problem. Also, Japan is leading technology development in the Asia Pacific area, not to say worldwide so I would not say it is focused on one country!

Swiss artist now accepts payments in BTC and MONA

That's a good step for crypto acceptance as asset Smiley very happy to read such info, thank you for sharing

very interesting overview, for me Japan has always been innovative in technology, and there is no surprise it is going to lead the crypto development.
I have relatives living in Japan, cryptos are getting more popular there, however it is still the beginning since a lot of people have no idea about what it is, similar as France where I am from.

Therefore it think it is a good time to get onboard, i got few alts and BTC of course, and have invested as well in MONA, since few months I am reading (getting translation from japanese friends) more and more articles, and they are talking about 5000 yen (44usd) per unit of MONA on a mid term probably in 2018.

Some people are already thinking about the Olympics in 2020, and if the crypto acceptance is still moving that fast there until then, there is no reason it will expand to other countries.

Among the comments, somebody was saying he will not focus on a crypto targeting one country. I don't agree, since first Japan is really active in the Asian area, and is followed by more countries, and Japan is exporting more than importing and will therefore have impact worldwide.

I believe in the crypto as asset and it seems these are keepers

What does monacoin actually do better than other coins? Nothing on the website jumps out at me as anything special.

I mean, I know it has a cute catface on the coin, but surely there is more to it than that! Happy to hear what I'm missing to explain its popularity.

I got most of my info from my japanese friends, some of them are gamers there and the coin is getting more popular among the non gamer community, and the crypto community growing fast in Japan.
They said it might be listed on more exchange early 2018.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MONA] Monacoin LAUNCHING 2014/01/01 0:00 GMT on: December 14, 2017, 10:44:07 AM
Let's keep a cordial tone on this thread.

We all reckon that MONA is becoming increasingly visible in Japan and that should soon be reflected in its value.
As to when and how much, nobody knows and everybody is free to post its own view.

I also believe that MONA has the potential of becoming the Litecoin of Japan. Its tech is as solid as LTC. Its network is less developed but it could grow very fast in Japan. That's why my target is 50$ by mid-2018 and a long term target of 100$

i dont think it will reach 100$ , monacoin, i think , maybe im wrong, is supposed to be easily spendable. Do you want to buy a coin that cost 100$ ? but this is crypto , everything can happen
If it reaches $100, why would that make it not easily spendable? I bought bitcoin at 2000 USD and I bought some at 11 000 USD, because I believe in it and I believe that more people will come later and buy so the price will go higher and higher. So it doesn't make sense to say that people will stop buying if the price will be 100 USD.
Just look at Litecoin. I remember not too long ago when the price was 60 USD, ok that is under 100 but now it is 300 USD and people keep buying.

could be a while as much as I like MONA its not an LTC yet.  LTC is on 14 plus large exchanges while MONA is on two. Its pretty much where they want it around 2000 yen ( $18 USD) which makes it a fun coin for night on the town eating and or shopping. BTC is still used as the larger store of value coin.

They might not even want it on other exchanges as they already have Zaif MONA/JPY MONA/BTC

Still I keep it as a long term prospect because this is the wild wild west of crypto and demand from surrounding countries could push this wonderful coin into much higher status.

I agree with the analysis, for me MONA is a long term runner and will go to more exchanges, however for its value, to be used in Japan, 5000 yen or 10000 yen per unit would be reasonable and it will remain under the 100$ mark.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MONA] Monacoin LAUNCHING 2014/01/01 0:00 GMT on: December 05, 2017, 03:25:05 PM
What brings income for investors in this coin? I don't see there are no POS or Masternode. For example, one DMD Masternode, I have a daily income of $ 100. What can you offer here?
Now I see only speculative interest and earnings on the pump and dump.

At the moment, only 2 cryptos are accepted by merchants around the world.
BTC and MONA.

So the interest in the coin is legitimate and it's no P&D at all.

Are you kidding me? But what about the other coins? ETH, Dash, Monero, LTC, really no one takes them has for goods and services. Still have to say that POW technology is the future. You know how much electricity it consumes one transaction of bitcoin? it is more than 200 kilowatts per hour.

This amount of electricity can charging multiple electric cars. So it's a dead end.
The use of ecologically friendly POS coins will only grow, while POW coins dirty, polluting an environment  a warm air, left to live not long.

you have the answer, dont buy mona and switch thread to ETH or monero Smiley

I dont see a speculation with MONA, it is a coin made for transaction and it is legitimate in Japan + hte japanese government is promoting it, therefore that's normal to see a rising cost, and more people will use it in Japan, more it will become popular.
that is actually a real crypto asset! you can do transaction with it, and not only speculate

Bitflyer just started its US operations !

https://www.coinspeaker.com/2017/11/29/bitflyer-worlds-largest-bitcoin-exchange-launches-u-s/

A very good news for MONA as it will be available for US customers versus USD normally.

Great news!!! thank you for the info. And with the relation between USA and Japan it makes totally sense

well as we see there is always going to be a retracement/consolidation after big gains, thats normal market activity. The word "correction" implies something is over valued.  Since this is a store of value coin the open market will determine value just like BTC and DASH. When it hit $6 the first time it settled around $3.. hit $8 this time and I think its going to settle around $5.80 ..  I still think it will go to $12 in December and settle around $8-$9.. has huge volume, getting well known now and only 20 mil coins circulating

So far, pretty accurate predictions $5,7 and below 60k sats now. Im ready to buy now! But will keep watching the price some more. Lets see what happens!

I have sold some LTC and VTC to buy MONA since I agree it should reach the equivalent of 1000 yen by the end of the year.
