Way too early to touch that. These coins that do well these days lose that value as quick as they gain it. It is hard to find a coin that will grab and keep success these days. A coin that does well this week is hard pressed to make to the end of the month, let alone 2018. There are very few that last and even fewer that are worth the value in them.

I would say ETH, BTC, steem, Omisego, LTC. Most people be banking on waves and I'm right here feeling there is nothing good that can come out of waves. Maybe it's just me though. I don't know but those 5 I listed are probably the best bets at the moment.

In my opinion, if you wanna invest $500 in 5 coins, this is not a good strategy. With a small budget, you just should invest in 2 to 3 coins. And those are Stellar, IOTA and Ripple.

You should pick the coins that have low price but can grow in future and those coins are waves, digibyte, sia coin as those are good to make an investment now and enjoy good profits later on.

All the people telling you that $500 is not enough to spread out amongst a few coins are wrong.
The people stating that you must buy cheap coins like XRP and NEM are wrong.

If you invested in BTC last year which was the priciest coin you would have 7k

If you invested in ETH you would have 20K

Both are good.

Just because something is more expensive per coin has nothing to do with the returns you can get

Now, I just watch the prices in marketcap So i recommend the leading cryptocurrencies to invest in next year,
First ever leading coin is called bitcoin. Bitcoin is really best choice for invest. It will give you a great profit result in next year. Then

Better, go with the trend, Bitcoin trending more then ever. But, I think that Litecoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Monero and major tokens will follow as uptrend, perhaps.
