4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will survive after 100 year ? on: October 25, 2017, 07:53:56 PM
Imagine yourself asking a similar question in the year 1917; "will people still use typewriters 100 years from now?" No one living at the time could possibly imagine how the world would look today - advanced computers, robotics, smartphones. A 100 years from now, things could look very different, and the internet as we know it might have become a relic of the past or evolved into something completely unrecognizable.
5  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is Your Favorite YouTube Channel? on: October 25, 2017, 07:36:22 PM
I would have to say Vsauce, the guy presents some really interesting topics, and does it in a smart and comprehensible way. There's plenty of fun facts to harvest from this channel and lots of things to learn.

LamiPassit knows what's up. Vsauce is really good, especially for those who need some inspiration after tiresome old lectures and monotone teachers. Michael presents the subjects like noone else can.
6  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which team will be the champion in 2018 russia world cup ? on: October 25, 2017, 07:30:53 PM
I think France will take it home this time around, as a revenge for the Euro final defeat last year. They're going to need Pogba in great shape to pull it off though.
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin $250000 by 2020 if the seven year trend continues on: October 21, 2017, 08:46:23 PM
Of course it won't keep rising exponentially forever. But what I don't get, is how many of you deem $250.000 to be impossible. That would only equal a market cap of roughly $4.6 trillion; gold sits at $8.2 trillion, all stock markets $66.8 trillion.

If someone told you it was going to be worth $6000 when it was at $0.05, wouldn't that have sounded equally "impossible"? $250.000 by 2020 is very possible once mass adoption happens and the big guys (wall street, major banks, etc) enter the market.

8  Economy / Speculation / Re: After 6,000$ When will have 6,500 on: October 20, 2017, 10:14:39 PM
It looks like it's capable of going beyond $6k before the fork on October 25th, maybe even to $7k levels. These are exciting times for sure.
9  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you believe in aliens? on: October 20, 2017, 09:59:54 PM
Given the size of our universe and the amount of planets we've found, the probability for ANY life to exist on just one of those planets approaches 1. Even if we narrow the scope to intelligent life, I still feel the odds are extremely high.

Exactly. Our galaxy alone contains 10 billion terrestial planets. Gas giants like Jupiter are not included here as they wouldn't be able to sustain life like we know it.
I repeat; 10 billion planets that have the potential to harbor life. And guess what, there are 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe. That's 20 billion trillion, or 20.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 terrestial planets. That's only in the observable universe! The notion that Earth is the only place where life exists in the universe, is simply ignorant, self-centric, and unfathomably improbable.
10  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your favourite country? on: October 20, 2017, 09:20:41 PM
Japan. The culture, cuisine, people are generally polite to tourists, one of the lowest homicide rates in the world, the best videogames (IMO) are made by Japanese developers, and of course, Bitcoin is widely supported there.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why do you think satoshi nakamoto kept his identity as a secret? on: October 20, 2017, 07:52:30 AM
If it's 1 person we're talking about, and that person was in possession of something like 500.000 - 1.000.000 Bitcoins from what I've gathered, one would wonder why he/she hasn't cashed out any of it yet. I mean, it's a stupendous amount of money. The coins might be lost forever, the creator might have the integrity to leave them untouched, or the person is no longer with us.

The creator was obviously intelligent, and maybe he/she knew from the beginning that any commodity can artificially create additional value as long as there's a certain mystique associated with it. It's basically a myth now, and an interesting one that gathers the attention that Bitcoin might need to pull off what it was meant to do.
12  Other / Off-topic / Re: Champions league starts tomorrow which is your favorite? on: October 19, 2017, 03:32:09 PM
Real Madrid and Manchester United Smiley It would be incredible if Real were to win it for the 3rd consecutive time. I don't think any other team will be able to copy that feat in our lifetime. Watch out for PSG though, both the team (and the owners) want the trophy real bad.
13  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: kjøpe btc i Norge i dag. on: October 19, 2017, 03:22:55 PM

14  Economy / Speculation / Re: This guy predicts bitcoin to be $20,000 in 2 years. What do you think? on: October 19, 2017, 09:25:19 AM
I believe the value will explode in a couple of years. What do you think all the potential investors with real serious cash are going to do, once Bitcoin reaches $10.000? Sooner or later, we'll see an influx of the big guys, wall street gets onboard, banks, state money, etc. We're still experiencing the startup period, the increase in value we're witnessing now is just a glimpse of what's to come.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can bitcoin wallet be hacked by hackers? on: October 19, 2017, 09:07:03 AM
I'm sure many of you have already seen this, but McAfee's London keynote is a must-see if you're interested in Bitcoin wallet security:

16  Economy / Speculation / Re: I do not have the guts to buy bitcoins now. on: October 18, 2017, 08:27:23 PM
Well, I invested in Bitcoin when the price was $4600, then it started to drop the day after. It didn't stop until it hit $2900. If I was a short-term trader, that would've been an unfortunate time to invest. Look at the price now though, a month later.
Everything you're talking about has happened in a very short period of time, so I don't really get your point here. Long term in my book is when you hold your coins for at least a year or two. If we look at the time frame you bought, when the price went down, and when it recovered to where we stand right now, it's extremely short term.

I just showed that short term fluctuations like that don't matter if you're holding long term (for at least a couple of years, like you said). Even if the price recovered in a short period of time, it demonstrates how it always reaches new hights, even after significant dips.

If I was a short-term trader, that would've been an unfortunate time to invest. Look at the price now though, a month later. If you're in it for the long haul, there's no wrong time to get in. If you do it now you'd still be an early adopter, remember that like every speculative asset, Bitcoin can only rise so far. $100.000, $1.000.000, who knows when it'll stabilize (if it survives). Just don't wait for years, otherwise you'll forever have missed out on the (potentially) biggest payoff.
18  Economy / Speculation / Re: Exponent for second half of 2017 on: October 17, 2017, 07:45:52 PM
Interesting. Sure hope your equation holds up, because then we'll see Bitcoin pass $1.000.000 in less than 2 years (23 months). Fingers crossed Tongue

Bitcoin reaching 1M$ in two years? Doesn't seem realistic. What equation are you talking about? The +0,75% a day?

It's not realistic at all, but it could (in theory) happen if Phil_S' graph was to be continued. Yeah it's based on BTC price = 2300*1.26^x, where x = number of months from the start of the graph.

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What impresses you the most about Bitcoin? on: October 17, 2017, 03:33:33 PM
What impresses me is that conventional stock trading analysis and predictions don't apply to Bitcoin. The fact that it's so fundamentally different from other assets reaffirms my belief that it's not just a major bubble.
