These steps worked for me:

1) Delete everything (except wallet.dat) in %APPDATA%/Luxcoin

2) Download https://1drv.ms/u/s!AglR-3pter_OaQAc04HURIC4V-o and open the zip file, copy blocks and chainstate folders to %APPDATA%/Luxcoin

3) Open the new 4.2.0 qt wallet from https://github.com/216k155/lux/releases/download/v4.2.0/lux-qt-wins.zip

4) Wait a few minutes for it to load the bootstrap and sync the remaining hours

5) Unlock the wallet to start staking again

I updated to 4.2 and now get active connections but no "block source available" in bottom left corner and it sits 5 days behind in blocks and doesn't move now. Been open all day. I tried reverting back to an older version but this version is now throwing errors on startup... masternode directories and something about libraries. I'm not downloading random url zip files post on 3rd party forums, so how do I fix this? Even when trying to shut down the client, it sits on the shutdown screen taking 25% system resources until I force the closure. How do I fix this issue?
Its not 3rd party forum, its temporary uploaded entire blockchain till yesterday date, now you can download it from website https://www.luxcore.io/files/LUXblockChain.zip , unzip it to /Lux folder and run wallet again.
Do not close the wallet while it syncing.

Since it was from the .io, I downloaded and extracted it but the client is doing the exact same thing. 16 active connections but "No block source available..." and sitting idle 5 days behind. Only been 10 minutes, how long until it starts to sync?

EDIT: 40 minutes open, still no blocks being synced, 20 active connections.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: LUXCoin—New PHI1612 PoW/PoS Hybrid—PrivateSend—LUXNodes—Live on Cryptopia on: February 08, 2018, 05:30:36 PM
Hey guys. I moved some LUX from Cryptopia to my lux qt windows wallet that i pre synced, pre encrypted and pre backed up. I did this yesterday and the Cryptopia withdraw history says done and complete and gives a TX ID. But now overnight I still don't have anything incoming into my wallet. I've checked address are correct and I raised a ticket with Cryptopia an hour out from the transfer but no reply yet. I've re opened my wallet and checked it has active node connections, all seams good. I tried to lookup the TX on a web gui lux block explorer but it seams to have stopped records pre wallet upgrade. When I try lookup the TX in the wallet it shows weird info that isn't relevant to my transaction. Not sure what else to do, should I post the TX here? Where can I lookup my TX ID to see if the tokens really have left Cryptopia's hotwallet?

Cheers,
If u still on previous v3 wallet so u not able to see coins that sent to, u need to upgrade till latest v4.
Here is explorer to track your TX https://chainz.cryptoid.info/lux/

Ah that must be it. I only downloaded wallet on weekend, but I think it was during the wallet upgrade. I'm resyncing now on the v4, I'm assuming I will need to load the .dat file back in with core passphrase etc? I'll let you know how I go. New UI looks good. Is there a way I can delete the old blockchain data from v3? I'm only on an ssd atm and am struggling for space. Cheers.
Here is simple guides of upgrading till v4:

Please make multiple backups of wallet.dat before upgrading for your own safety!

WINDOWS
1. Stop v3.0.4 wallet
2. Delete all files except for the wallet.dat file in %appdata%/lux
3. Download and extract the v4.0.0 wallet and run it from it's own folder (outside of the downloads directory is best!)
4. Wait for it to sync - go grab a coffee, play with your dog, etc.
5. if it doesn't sync after 30 minutes: stop your wallet, download the lux.conf file pinned in the wallet channel and save it in %appdata%/lux
6. Run the new v4.0.0 wallet and wait for it to sync with the new nodes
7. Buy the LUX team some beer Smiley

LINUX
1. Stop v3.0.4 wallet by issuing ./lux-cli stop or doing a ps -ax |grep luxd and then kill -9 "LUXDPID"
2. Delete all files except for the wallet.dat file in ~/.lux
3. Download and extract the new v4.0.0 wallet and run it with ./luxd -daemon
4. Wait for it to sync - go grab a coffee, play with your dog, etc.
5. If you're really bored you can tail -f ~/.lux/debug.log
6. If it doesn't sync after 30 minutes: stop your wallet, download the lux.conf file pinned in the wallet channel and save it in ~/.lux
7. Run the new v4.0.0 wallet and wait for it to sync with the new nodes
8. Buy the LUX team some beer Smiley

MAC
1. Stop v3.0.4 wallet by issuing ./lux-cli stop or doing a ps -ax |grep luxd and then kill -9 "LUXDPID"
2a. Open the Finder and Go to the Menu Bar and open the "Go" menu.
2b.    Select "Go to Folder..." and enter the following path: ~/Library/Application Support
2c. Open your lux folder and delete all files except for the wallet.dat
3. Download and extract the v4.0.0 wallet and run it from it's own folder (outside of the downloads directory is best!)
4. Wait for it to sync - go grab a coffee, play with your dog, etc.
5. If it doesn't sync after 30 minutes: stop your wallet, download the lux.conf file pinned in the wallet channel and save it in ~/.lux
6. Run the new v4.0.0 wallet and wait for it to sync with the new nodes

Thanks. After the v4 resync, the transaction showed up straight away with a time stamp about 8 minutes after Cryptopia's timestamp. I didn't need to load the dat file. Cheers.

Actually, another quick question. Can he/I access an account via Bitcoin Core client with only a private key?
You can import the private key. In Bitcoin Core, click Help > Debug Window > Console > enter importprivkey "privkey"
After this, wait a long time (depending on your system speed) for a complete rescan. Note that you can't remove a private key from a wallet.dat anymore after importing.

Quote
Should I have put the .dat file with the key on the sticks?
It wouldn't hurt to keep it.

I think using a web browser and a 3rd party website to create a wallet for cold storage is a silly idea. I wouldn't even do that, web browsers are a big target for sniffers/stingrays.
For this reason, the offline Linux LIVE CD is recommended. It disables any remote attack.

Ah, sweet. Thanks. I've got like a whole 40 min play time on Core ever. Good to familiarise myself with more of it though.

I would of kept it if I redo it, but since importing a private key is easy, i'll leave it at that.

I'll look into the linux live CD. Sounds even more secure then a VM. (or could do both)

Cheers.

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Making a friend a Bitcoin address with Bitcoin Core client? on: December 20, 2017, 04:35:08 PM
Ok, renaming the dat file reset the account with fresh address and keys and wallet not encrypted etc. I will just do this. Make his new account, then rename the dat file, rename mine back to wallet.dat. Cheers.

Yeah the 2x fork. I'm hoping for a 95%+ miner consensus (Last segwit2x reached 97%) to scrap a side chain and we just update Bitcoin Core like it should be done. Transactions need scaling aye.400 BTC pending transaction fees is ridiculous.

So I disconnected from the internet, output priv key, veracrypt the key onto two usb sticks, killed client, deleted .dat file and unplugged usb sticks from computer, reconnected. I think using a web browser and a 3rd party website to create a wallet for cold storage is a silly idea. I wouldn't even do that, web browsers are a big target for sniffers/stingrays. If I wanted a further layer on above, I'd do it all through an encrypted VM instance, then kill it.

I've got the security and redundancy bit down pat. Thanks for the Core client help, worked a treat.

Cheers.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Making a friend a Bitcoin address with Bitcoin Core client? on: December 20, 2017, 01:34:06 PM
Creating a receiving address and exporting the private keys should be sufficient yes. I don't think It's possible to disconnect/remove a specific address though. If he don't have a PC, he could use Mycelium for android and buy a hardware wallet since the amount is big.

Thanks for the suggestion. He doesn't want me to use any 3rd party to make his wallet. I just tested making a new address and dumping priv key and to my surprise, it was different to my private key. I assumed my made address would be a cold wallet address that linked to the same main address with the same private key. Disconnecting it going to be an issue though. I tried clearing options and reopening the client and it went through first opening routine again (where you choose location to save blockchain etc). I might just re sync the client to another location which should give me a fresh address array, I'll save the private key, xfer funds, and just delete the folder, clear options again and revert back to my folder. Unless there is an easier way where I don't have to re download the 150gb blockchain again?

~ he asked if I could make him a Bitcoin address with my Core client, dump his paid share into it and pass on an encrypted copy of the private key. I said no worries at the time. Now a potential fork is upcoming I want to get it into his own address.
You're using a hot wallet for long-term storage, that isn't a best practice.

I don't think It's possible to disconnect/remove a specific address though.
Correct. All you can do is change the address label to something like "zzzDONOTUSE".
As an alternative, you can create a new wallet.dat before doing all this, so that his new private key is not a part of your own wallet. But it will still be a hot wallet.

Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers.
My advice would be to create a paper wallet (bitaddress.org). Take all safety precautions: run it from an offline Linux LIVE CD, use a cheap laser printer, don't show anybody the private key and QR-code, and tell him to store it safely.
You could print several backups (more risk of exposure but less risk of losing them), and/or BIP38-encrypt them (safe against theft, but you absolutely must remember the password).

A properly made paper wallet is considered cold storage, a can't be stolen by any online hacker.

Quote
Now a potential fork is upcoming
Did you do all this before or after the Cash/Gold forks?

Wouldn't it be a cold wallet if the client nor the key is kept online? How is it different making a wallet from a web wallet over the Core client but adding a trusted party into the mix? (bitaddress.org) The key will be encrypted onto a usb stick and I will keep a copy too just in case. But they will both be offline and cold. Isn't this a cold paper wallet?

I'm referring to the segwit2x repost coming up in a week or was that fake news too? Not interested in all these shitforks.

Would there be an easier way to avoid re downloading the whole chain again as per above? You mentioned the .dat file. If I delete that will it revert to a new address on client open?

Cheers.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Making a friend a Bitcoin address with Bitcoin Core client? on: December 20, 2017, 07:25:25 AM
I had a friend who asked me to buy him some Bitcoin when it flew through 10k USD and I did. He is a bit of a hermit that doesn't trust any corporation (wallet apps etc). He doesn't have a PC and he asked if I could make him a Bitcoin address with my Core client, dump his paid share into it and pass on an encrypted copy of the private key. I said no worries at the time. Now a potential fork is upcoming I want to get it into his own address. I've poked around the core client and I'm a bit worried whether I can do this. It is just as simple as creating a new receiving address, send his funds to that address and then retrieve the private key at console? Can I then disconnect this receiving account from my client, even with funds in it? and will this cause any on chain issues with him accessing it later with his private key? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PreICO] WaBi (蛙币) coin backed 🔥 by safe products in China on: December 19, 2017, 03:40:29 AM
Great product from WALIMAI and probably very usful and successful... but why the hell they need a crypto coin for that? They write because:

- Single-click automatic payment for Walimai protected products (at current exchange rate if the user has insufficient WaBi)
- Paying with WaBi grants additional benefits: discounts, improved delivery terms, bonus WaBi points with every purchase
- Allows users to buy loyalty points in bulk with discounts

Seriously... do you guys think that these chinese mothers will pay for their baby food with WaBi? I cannot imagine... maybe once when crypto get's standard and when it doesn't matter anymore which coins I have, because they get converted automatically to the desired currency at payment time. But this is still far future...
Discounts, loyality points... We all know this from our favourite supermarket chain. Would you buy coins of them just because they are on blockchain now? Probably not...
Exactly, i also can't get the idea why do we need a coin for that?
What is the purpose?

It's great idea, but ho is it related to  cryptocurrencies?
I get your points guys and share the same concerns. I think the product is great itself, but the crypto part I dont get eighter. Hopefully someone will enlighten us. I have not been able to buy at the ICO, because I learned about it too late, but I bought some now, just to be safe. FOMO.

READ THE WHITEPAPER. And do your own research. Here's the link https://resources.wacoin.io/WaBI_Whitepaper_ENG.pdf

I read the whitepaper and I don't see a use for the token in their model. They haven't got any asset contracts linking the token to their adoption or underlying company or in any free market integration on their tech. If they do, they have done a really bad job in describing it. I have done my own research and I chose not to invest in a pure fomo/fud hype market alone. I welcome you to debate this topic. Show me otherwise netnutter.

Hey guys, anyone help me. While depositing the wabi Tokens to binance, why is that the tokens go to contract address and then by passes to the depositing address?

This is just the ERC20 address protocols. The contract address always is involved with the transfers.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PreICO] WaBi (蛙币) coin backed 🔥 by safe products in China on: December 18, 2017, 01:27:27 AM
Is there any actual free market asset contracts on this coin tied into their tech being adopted besides the optional consumer reward stuff mentioned in the whitepaper? I like the idea and can get behind the tech, but without anything tying into adoption and case uses isn't this token just a fomo/fud market only?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FLiK on: October 24, 2017, 03:06:40 PM
Total supply still at 600 mil on token address. Market cap and circulated supply conveniently gets posted after the so called burn? What's the go? It was stated on your website that the burn will be removing total supply. I realise that the planned burned tokens would not of been in circulating supply and hence not effect the token price at all directly (even though this was a wide misconception among pre burn investors which FLik failed to correct or inform otherwise), however I can't even see this so called burning happening at all. You tweeted a transfer of 520mil tokens to another unlocked address without any burn contract running. Can you elaborate on how this constitutes a burn? Am I missing something?

I feel this little stunt has put long term risk onto your business model. You will lose a lot of investors over this... for a bit of publicity?

Hey Franko unamerican (nofx fan, sorry), why do you post a 8 exp block minimum and a 4 exp reward in the same post? Am I reading this wrong? Is Exp slowly going PoS too? Is that meant to be maintain 8 exp per minute? 4 per block, 30 second block time... ahh i get it. I can't see the .tech block explorer to see the block clock. It's saying page not found. I've put my miner on an exp pool for now to show some love aye. Your original whitepaper is set in google docs for public edit i think and seams to have paragraphs of hand mashing, by the way. So you have some sort of contractual PoS system happening? Any chance a layman like me can do this? Any help beyond this link: https://expanse-org.github.io/exr-dapp/ ? Do you just send exp to that address do you? Cheers big ears. Keep up the good work aye.

Haha.

Yes right now we have 8 EXP/ min inflation rate. We are moving to 30 second blocks and still maintaining the same monetary policy of 8 exp per min. Just faster blocks.

Yeah, 8 per minute. Got it. I seen the block clock on the client, so I know when we at for update now. Any comment on that PoS dapp, Franko?

On EXR?

Yeah, the EXR Dapp. Or a link to a previous post here explaining it maybe. (I can't seam to search within only a thread) Is EXR done via the wallet client (I'm not sure what Section 3 is) ? Where is the interest expanse coming from and it is available to anyone at any time or is there limited interest/EXP rewards? And I don't understand the term "purchasing rewards" on the EXR page. Cheers.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POWR][UPDATE] *** POWER LEDGER TOKEN SALE STARTS FRIDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER *** on: October 02, 2017, 03:52:05 AM
Hey guys. I am a keen supporter of this technology and I am an ICO purchaser. I have been following Jeremy Rivkin since his book "The 3rd Industrial Revolution" published in 2011. He has a whole section in this book about how unilateral p2p smart power grids will happen in the future and will do to the centralised power industry as social media did to the centralised media industry. I've been eagerly waiting since reading this book for a technology to enable this type of ecosystem and I think this might do the trick. I like the idea of small scale 'prosumer' green energy plants as a business model with this ecosystem in place (almost like a crypto mining scenario but for a real tangible asset). Where I can see myself buying a block of land for cheap ways out of the city and seting up a 50kw or so solar & wind farm and sell it back to a smart grid at market value rather then being at the whims of government subsidies combined with central producers paying you what ever they like per kwh for your energy. If this gets nation wide or even just state wide adoption with stable market pricing, I can see the ability to even out the peak/offpeak arbitrage with users storing a % of energy during the day to be fed back into the grid during peak/night time, essentially passively fixing the bottlenecking issues using the free market and the ever improving energy storage technology.

I find your whitepaper a bit over complicated with multiple explanations of tokens and AUD relations. I'm not sure how the POWR token can be passively linked to adoption of your technology and my reading of the relation is a bit confusing. It states Sparkz needs to be purchased by POWR but then says straight after that Sparks can be purchased directly. It also says Sparks are pinned to the AUD for 1 Sparkz = 1 AUD cent but then later says Sparkz price is derived by a combination of local electricity market price and the exchange priced POWR token. I also don't understand the need for POWR tokens by application hosts (utility companies? Power producer? or a retailer?). Could you clear up these conflicts for me so I can better understand it going forward?

I have 580 Nitros 8GB Hynix in my rig and I used a timing strap from a 480 4GB hynix card which was much more aggressive. It also worked very well in my 580 Giga Gaming 8GB hynix cards too.

777000000000000022AA1C00B56A6D46C0551017BE8E060C006AE6000C081420EA8900AB0300000 01B162C31C0313F17

I've pasted it above if you want to try it or see if maybe you already have it on (as it is floating around the net everywhere as the best hynix strap to use (if you want to google it if you don't trust me))
Only use if 400/500 series cards with Hynix type memory and only ever change the top two fields (2:2000-2:2250 or your card's equiv) to avoid any possibility of bricking your card.

Also, make sure you are using the AMD blockchain drivers. They make a huge difference for the 400/500 series cards.
