1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave ( PART 2 !!!!!!!!) on: January 01, 2018, 05:30:30 AM
Stumbled upon this too late, learnt a lot of lessons the hard way while building up a small tiny 160 GPU mini mini farm.

Wish I have the room/space to properly do it the right way!

Sometime to aspire to and I think I found my retirement job, mining!!

Thanks for the post! Every post, you learn something new!

价格是天天跟着BTC走。 还有不同卖家

询了价,一两个小时就会有变化, 您不如自己跑一趟自己询问吧
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PCIe Riser Version Differences? on: December 17, 2017, 11:15:55 AM
I am currently using mostly 007s,
have zero issues so far with all those claims of the SATA ports being fire hazard.

The 009s with 2 x PCI 6 pin seems weird? What is the extra PCI 6 pin slot for? And the pic from amazon shows them using the port on the middle of the board with a SATA connection?

Those prices though are also quite ex considering I buy risers by weight

There is always ready stock in Shenzhen,
the price flucs according to BTC pricing
Last I checked, it is around 15,000~ RMB thereabouts without PSU.

Its about 700-1,000 more expensive than from Bitmain itself.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best country on earth for altcoin mining - share suggestions on: November 02, 2017, 07:36:38 PM
Agree, 300 kWh is min that you shall consume to get cheap electricity in Georgia, but our goal is to built mega mining datacenter so we definitely will consume far above 300 kWh electricity  Grin  We are running now pilot project in Kakheti for altcoin mining and our electricity bill do not exceed $ 5 cent kWh.

We are actually preparing for ICO to raise funds for the mega mining datacenter (http://goldenfleece.co - do not comment about web-site  Cheesy we are in the process to upgrade it  Cheesy ). Our project is called Golden Fleece (first Georgian altcoin) and we plan to build the mining datacenter on the land of Colchis in West Georgia; and yes we use green energy as a source of electricity for altcoin mining. You are right there are lots of HPP opportunities in Georgia but we target to use solar and wind power as well (but not big portion of our consumption).

What do you thing about Singapore?

how does low government corruption help mining altcoins?  Huh
if there are zero regulations also?

I also consider Georgia (my home country) as a best place for not only alts but for mining.
You should mention that it's not as easy to get 5-6 Cents per KWh, unless you are consuming above 300KWh. But, there's a big but also, under proper management and under good connections you are able to get your own power plant, small or medium one, last couple years governmental structures are working and in fact supporting people to run power plants, there are some regulations of course, but it's relatively easy to do it. Also consider that there are  more than 25k (yeas! 25 fucking thousand) rivers in Georgia, not all of them are capable to handle power plants, but hey, 25.000+! So My voice goes to Georgia the country!

I am from Singapore.

It's very safe, great for business. However it's right in the tropics and you will not be getting dirt cheap electricity.

I'm not sure how much you will spend on power in datacenters but I doubt you can beat some of the rates quoted by folks here.

Hi guys, I am just, spent 9hours of installing 10x vegas 64 sapphire limited edition. I am was able to install only 9gpus, because of the asrock mobo 110 pro btc. 9 gpus just boot fine, but when 10gpus was installed the mobo just stop working, no booting no sign of anything. I am check everything, even the swapping of risers, gpus, slots was without succes...
But anyway 9gpus are in w10 and they are mining. 1350W on wall, but only 1150h for card. Even I did not saw the compute option in wattman! How it is possible? What about igpu as primary display?

Read the guide here:

and here:

Hope this help.

Personally, I have stopped trying for any Vega over 8. I find it is semi flaky and increasing it to 9 or even 10 is really more for bragging rights. I have now gone to 7 / 8 card configuration.

Ledipaa, Your calculator is wrong. Two rx on eth in dual with dcr currently gives ~$90/month. While unstable working Vega 56 on monero ~85.

power used for 2 rx on eth with dcr  vs power used for 1x 56 mining monero

I see claims with 140 watts for 2000 hash on vega's doing monero

I know 2x rx 470's 480's 570's or 580's will use more then 140 watts

so form factor a good board could do very well  with vega 56's

I have this board on order. comes on monday

seems really good to run 4 vega 56's with endless spacing for cooling

but right now I am almost all nvidia mostly because of a few more coin choices

The chinese board is actually quite interesting. If you see the few PCI E slots at the bottom, they are labelled 8 till 12, but the official specifications only list it as having 8 pci slots.

Why such on experiments with noname PSU? Why not take branded one?

I tried some on "named PSUs" / coolermaster / corsair / fsp / silverstone.

So far, the verdict is that I have no luck with Coolermaster / Silverstone. RMA them fast though it takes about 2-3 weeks for them to send me a replacement.

I'm also an idiot for running more than 4 vegas on a single mobo :-P
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: October 25, 2017, 05:51:06 AM
someone tried the new driver to solve the 4/x Vega HBCC problem?

It doesn't solve the 4x Vega HBCC problem.

though for some rig...porn. This goes up/down literally :-(

Test Rig

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: October 24, 2017, 02:42:49 PM
It would take a brave man to try 12x Vegas :-P

The Power draw would be insane!!
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: October 24, 2017, 08:42:18 AM
Someone have tested jet NEW AMD 17.40 drivers for vega? What about hasherate on eth?

Almost as good as BC driver. 0.5-0.8MH/s slower than with BC. But you can adjust clocks and voltages in the wattman.

yup i tried these as well since with blockchain drivers i could not turn off crossfire which was throttiling the other vega card.

I plan to update all my AMD rigs to this new driver

Wow, time to go check on all those Vega rigs :-)
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: October 23, 2017, 10:57:22 AM
Locks like only units were able to launch 4+ card in one rig and this rigs are working and not failed. Very strange that too much description about 150W per card, but all use 2x1200WATT psu for 4x cards.
Or I'm wrong ?

I'm running 2 x 1200 Watt for 8 cards. Not 4.

I have underclock the cards but they were not stable in any case. The only variable I changed to make them stable was giving a lot of headroom for the Vega to spike in terms of PSU
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: October 23, 2017, 02:27:56 AM
hey, I have 6 vega 64's and a 56 since their launch date, been travelling round the world for btc events and my dad has been going nuts restarting the rigs every hour...

wattman settings I can never get to save after reset - so my usb watchdogs are useless

Is there somthing Im missing?

It seems in this thread people say no more then 4 vegas, so tried taking 3 out (rig was 4 1070s and 6 vega 64 1 vega 56), still extremely unstable, asrock 110 board...

Should I take the 7 vegas and put them 4 and 3 in dedicated rigs? I have some extra mobos..

Any idea how to get wattman settings to hard save?

Cheers Smiley

This is my experience running on some rigs

Windows 10 (no Nix yet though I will switch soon)
Asrock 110
7 Vega / 1-2 Nvidia 1060

PSU is your stumbling block
You will need to have enough juice for the Vegas. Power draw from the wall will show way lesser usage but I have not have anything that is stable besides having an overkill in terms of PSU.
Stable rigs are running
2 x FSP 1200watt / 1x 1600watt (chinese OEM brandS) + 1x FSP 1200 watt / 1 x FSP 1200 + 1 x Corsair 1000watt

YMMV

Seems like there is new drivers for Nix.

Hoping for new version to come out so I can move on from Windows to RxOC. Those vegas are waiting :-P

https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMDGPU-Pro-Beta-Mining-Driver-for-Linux-Release-Notes.aspx

I can cleanup and upload the stopgap version I am using now sometime soon if you want / but it is very beta.

Well, I will be very happy for anything though I might not be the best beta tester as my rigs are running 5-8 vegas each.

I just want to thank everyone for being so helpful in this thread. Special thanks to Hellae for his reddit guide and Oldcomer's hardware for his YouTube guide. Just set up my two rigs today running 8 Vega 64s. I am at a combined 15300-15600 hashrate (pool just shows random numbers but calculated total hashes over 7 hours turn out around these numbers).

Running fine for 7 hours. Each system is consuming around 700watts from the wall, one has a killawatt and the other the Corsair RM1000i with Corsair link showing 700W and 93% efficiency on 230v. Hashrate seems a tad low but I had to leave shortly after putting them to work so I had no time to tinker.

One has a running monitor plugged in but I started the second one through TeamViewer (had disconnected the monitor while off) and seems to be running as well as the one with the monitor, maybe HDMI dummies aren't required after all!. I still ordered two and I am waiting for them. Both have onboard gpus as primary. I got two i3-4170s just because I might use them for other projects in the future (AES-NI support). 1000watt PSUS seem just fine so my advice is buy them if they are cheap instead of 1300+.

Have fun, I am!

would love to know how you are managing to run 8 Vegas on 1 x PSU. an only 1 Corsair RM1000 even..   Most of my rigs with 7/8 Vegas 56 are suffering from PSU issues and I have to power them with 2 x 1200/1000 or 1200/1600 etc etc.

sure you can tweak the cards to lower voltage but i think the initial bump at the start makes them a tad bit unstable.

Cheers

Vega 64 bios mod. The best i can get with stock bios is 39MH/s.
[/quote]

39 x 6 does not equal 262mh

But all kudos to you, I would love to be doing 39 with all my vegas but as said I am in a crunch to get more machines up rather than tweaking for now.

Still hoping to switch from Windows to Nix soon
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: October 19, 2017, 02:32:03 PM
I have a few rigs with more than 4 Vega 56 in them

No neighbours have died though.. sad..

What are you mining with those?

Currently these are the stats for the 6 vega 56 card rig:  ETH: 262MH/s @ 1150W, XMR: 10000H/s @ 1100W (probably I can go down to 1000W)

These stats into whattomine --> ETH: $10.25/day, XMR: $11.67/day  ($12.01/day @ 1000W)  If 6 card HBCC were supported then $13.56/day @ 1000W

Currently I'm staying on ETH, but considering change to XMR

Eth + Dcr

I don't know how you can get 262mh, my cards don't hit 40mh each, most hover around low 30s with default bios/settings. Though i have to profess I haven't had time to tweak much. More concerned about getting more machines up.

Haven't look at XMR, but might explore once I clear my backlog and start tweaking.

I'm more interested if we can migrate out from Windows to Linux as I can't get the nix drivers working after the 4th card, boots into Windows with 8 just fine
