I am pretty sure that this is the card that is making the trouble here. HBM2 on it is like 12-14C hotter than the core, unlike any other cards I have where the difference is smaller ...

Any idea how to fight it? Its already undervolted, and fans are running quite high. Current room temp is around 18C, so can't really improve much on that front.

Would any additional fans do any good? Like case fans from both sides blowing into it or something?
Any other ideas?

Are you 100% sure that the card is undervolted? Almost every time I quit xmr-stak-amd the driver glitches and resets one of my cards to the default voltages and also ramps the fan down to 400rpm. That is on both of my rigs (1 card on each rig resets, I think it is always the same one). I just restart, run mythic's driver reset bat, run hellae's registry file, restart, run mythic again, reset voltages to manual and fans to 3000 and then it is fixed.
I still do get some GPU COMPUTE ERRORS but it is more like 10 per week, mostly on one of the two rigs. Each rig is running 4 vega 64s.

I haven't be able to get up to speed with the thread lately.

I am running two XMR rigs, 4 Vega 64 each. Windows Fall Creator's, August 23 blockchain drivers.
Total hashrate is 16060H/s (~2007 per card)
Using hellae's 1100MHz regedit (1407/900, 1100/905 probably)
xmr-stak-amd with 1932/1932 threads on each card
~1525watts from the wall (220v) with Corsair RM1000is

Is there any benefit switching to xmr-stak or cast-xmr?
Can I get any more efficiency out of them?

Thanks in advance!

@rednow what miner are you using for the Nvidia cards?  I was using ethminer and it kept resetting the hbcc every so often. What scheduled tasks were there to disable?  Would love to get more cards up in this rig.  Also do you use afterburner to tune the Nvidia cards?
He will probably tell you to pay him .3 ETH for any advice...

I'm trying to build an 8 gpu single rig with vega 56 cards.

While waiting for the cards to arrive, do you think I will be able to enable HBCC on all of them ? Is it only a memory issue or a driver problem?

reading all the topic from the beggining, noone managed to make all hbcc enabled... i'm on progress with 2x rigs with 4x (each) 56's on tb-250 btc biostar mobos...maybe in the future if me or someone else find a solution i'll stick 2x more on each.. but so far it's a no brainer (not) cheap solution for very very good XMR hashrates
That was exactly my thought process when I built my 2 rigs running 4x64 Vega each. If you have some 2x8GB DDR3 RAM lying around in other computers like me, it turns out much cheaper. I can live with 8GB on my main PC until my mining machines can finance an upgrade and my summer home PC can live with a pair of 2GB sticks until summer. I am using ASRock H81 BTC R 2.0s. This way, the increased hashrate will pay for the second system in 2-4 months, less if you already own some components.

Is it normal to have some Invalid Shares? Pool shows 10 Invalid after 8070 valid and 33 hours.

just buy un sonoff pow to monitor power remotly !

That looks great! Although I was looking for something more plug and play and with an Ethernet port because I don't have wifi reception near the rigs. Why are there no "smart" power strips??

I just want to thank everyone for being so helpful in this thread. Special thanks to Hellae for his reddit guide and Oldcomer's hardware for his YouTube guide. Just set up my two rigs today running 8 Vega 64s. I am at a combined 15300-15600 hashrate (pool just shows random numbers but calculated total hashes over 7 hours turn out around these numbers).

Running fine for 7 hours. Each system is consuming around 700watts from the wall, one has a killawatt and the other the Corsair RM1000i with Corsair link showing 700W and 93% efficiency on 230v. Hashrate seems a tad low but I had to leave shortly after putting them to work so I had no time to tinker.

One has a running monitor plugged in but I started the second one through TeamViewer (had disconnected the monitor while off) and seems to be running as well as the one with the monitor, maybe HDMI dummies aren't required after all!. I still ordered two and I am waiting for them. Both have onboard gpus as primary. I got two i3-4170s just because I might use them for other projects in the future (AES-NI support). 1000watt PSUS seem just fine so my advice is buy them if they are cheap instead of 1300+.

Have fun, I am!

would love to know how you are managing to run 8 Vegas on 1 x PSU. an only 1 Corsair RM1000 even..   Most of my rigs with 7/8 Vegas 56 are suffering from PSU issues and I have to power them with 2 x 1200/1000 or 1200/1600 etc etc.

sure you can tweak the cards to lower voltage but i think the initial bump at the start makes them a tad bit unstable.

Cheers

That is two rigs, 4 Vegas each, I meant 8 in total, one with a Corsair RM1000i and the other one with a Corsair RM1000x. Sorry for my bad grammar. I regret not buying two 1000is because you can monitor them through TeamViewer with Corsair link. That is important for me because if softpowerplay doesn't work, 1000watts is not enough for 4 Vegas running at the higher power consumptions. My rigs are 60 miles away from my home due to lower electricity costs and lack of space. It is 700W from the wall with a 93% efficiency which means about 650 watts coming out of the PSU. It is not as efficienct as it can be at the moment (about 1950 H/s for each card) but I had to leave yesterday and had no time to play around.

Does HBCC run on cards connected to 1xPCIe 2.0 ports with risers or do you need PCIe 3.0 and/or 8x? Does it matter if they are going through the chipset or directly to the CPU?

Hello guys, building a 6xVega XMR mining rig, need some advice.
Parts:
Asrock H81 Pro BTC R2.0
Intel Celeron G1840 (can't get cheaper CPU)
16GB DDR3 RAM, I already have this
250GB SSD

My problem is Vega 64 and 56 are the same price (600 euros). Should I buy 64s or 56s?
Is there any point in buying a Ryzen CPU instead and have it mine as well?
Thanks in advance.
I wouldn't go with 6 Vega now, to many problems can be. 4 Vega+something else (Nvidia for example) should be fine

What kind of problems?
