1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bounty for a crypto Virtual Summit on: February 13, 2018, 07:32:10 PM
Hi Everyone,

I want to start off with apologizing for not being an extremely active member on the site and offering a bounty program. This one is a little different as it is for an event. The crypto thought leaders speaking at this summit and I are putting together a bounty program and we wanted to gauge some initial interest in it.

The summit is virtual and will have around 15 speakers at it. Gil Penchina, Miko Matsumura, Cindicator, and many more will be speaking. The business model is a free live ticket for anyone interested with an upgraded $67 All Access Pass for those who want to keep all of the recorded sessions forever. It's a two day virtual event.

http://icovirtualsummit.com/

If you are interested in a bounty campaign for this, please reply as such in response to this thread. We are organizing this virtual summit from San Francisco, California and wanted to do it to welcome the international community and give people a place to hear about how the industry leaders want to shape the future of the ICO industry. We want to teach and network around how to make the entire industry better. Topics that will be covered are:

LEARNING FROM THE PAST:
Tons Of Money or Survival Bias

TOKEN ECONOMY PANEL:
Is It The Evolved Stock Market?

LEAN ICOS EXPLAINED:
Learning From Traditional Investor Wisdom

ESCROW:
Technology & Principles

ICO & Legal Compliance

KEYNOTE:
A Startup’s Secret Guide To ICO Success

BLOCKCHAIN STRUCTURED:
Maslow’s Heirarchy For Blockchain

PANEL:
Industries Most Likely To Become Blockchained

BLOCKCHAIN IN THE MEDIA:
Make or Break

PROFESSIONAL ICO INVESTOR PANEL:
Inside Investor’s Minds

CRYPTO COMMUNITY EVOLUTION:
A Look Into The (Realistic) Future

KEYNOTE:
Blockchain Without Borders: A Global Scope

Please let me know if you are interested in a bounty campaign and I'll post the details if enough people are.

3  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic effects of bitcoins on: November 06, 2017, 06:30:07 PM
I totally agree with Lieldoryn. This is a sad but true fact - the decentralized nature of bitcoin still allows for richer users to influence more. The wealthy ones buy out more bitcoins and have more voting power. So nothing hinders big players and corporations to establish their rules. Something has to change, it will change, but for now that's the sad truth.
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - time to buy or sell? on: November 06, 2017, 06:22:53 PM
No, no, I think it is not yet time to sell, as Bitcoin price is skyrocketing and this tendency will preserve till the whole bubble blows.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Amazon and Bitcoin on: November 06, 2017, 06:05:17 PM
I agree with you, it would be a revolution in online sales when (not if) Amazon starts accepting crypto. But the recent statement of one of its executives makes it clear that they are in no rush to implement this.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Amazon and Bitcoin on: November 05, 2017, 10:21:44 PM
Well, the rumor is already there.Amazon may have no plan to accept cryptocurrency now, but Amazon’s attitude matters greatly. It’s reasonable to assume that if Amazon eventually accepts cryptocurrency, the entire market could be lifted.

Note, on October 31, Amazon registered three domains related to cryptocurrency, sparking speculation that Amazon may soon begin accepting cryptocurrency. The domains are amazonethereum.com, amazoncryptocurrency.com, and amazoncryptocurrencies.com. Amazon already owns the “amazonbitcoin.com” domain name.

This is not the first time a rumor has circulated that Amazon will accept digital currency. A few weeks ago, there was news based on sources in Silicon Valley reporting that Amazon could soon integrate Bitcoin as a payment option.
7  Economy / Economics / Re: what will happen to banks? on: November 05, 2017, 12:11:33 AM
The banking system is open to manipulation while bitcoin is pretty much tamper proof and allows the control of no one individual or corporation.
The chances are the adoption of bitcoin or other decentralized currencies will increase due to its ease of use and being tamper proof. bitcoin has the potential to change commerce, and the financial system as we know it. Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages which have been discussed. Both will co-exist for the foreseeable future for the time being, although the world of finances and commerce has the potential for a revolution in how it operates due to the invention of bitcoin and other currencies derived from it and the blockchain has other uses, such as smart contracts, as used in the Ethereum platform.

Still, the risk is significant and we don't know yet its scope. Even though the AI is programmed to do something beneficial, it may develop a destructive method for achieving its goal: This can happen whenever we fail to fully align the AI’s goals with ours, which is strikingly difficult. If you ask an obedient intelligent car to take you to the airport as fast as possible, it might get you there chased by helicopters and covered in vomit, doing not what you wanted but literally what you asked for. If a superintelligent system is tasked with a ambitious geoengineering project, it might wreak havoc with our ecosystem as a side effect, and view human attempts to stop it as a threat to be met.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New user bitcoin !? on: November 01, 2017, 08:04:05 PM
You can hire IT specialists to implement the technical part, for that you don't need to be an expert in this area. So if you have a good business idea, don't worry about the technical knowledge at first. There are people who can do it for you.
If you are just interested in buying, there many consultants to train you up a bit on that matter. I wouldn't recommend starting on your own if you are new to this.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If people stop buying bitcoin on: November 01, 2017, 07:34:48 PM
If they stop buying bitcoin they will buy something else. Other cryptocurrency. This process is unstoppable, it will proceed, with or without bitcoin.
11  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you still believe in bitcoin on: October 30, 2017, 07:10:26 PM
I would agree, today I believe in bitcoin more then ever. Yesterday it just hit 6300 mark, and this is only the beginning!
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how to secure bitcoin wallet?? on: October 29, 2017, 05:53:16 PM
A Bitcoin wallet is like a wallet with cash. If you wouldn't keep a thousand dollars in your pocket, you might want to have the same consideration for your Bitcoin wallet. In general, it is a good practice to keep only small amounts of bitcoins on your computer, mobile, or server for everyday uses and to keep the remaining part of your funds in a safer environment.

Also, a backup of your wallet can protect you against computer failures and many human mistakes. It can also allow you to recover your wallet after your mobile or computer was stolen if you keep your wallet encrypted. If your backup is not dependent of a single location, it is less likely that any bad event will prevent you to recover your wallet. You might also want to consider using different medias like USB keys, papers and CDs.

You may also want to research this: paper wallets are a very secure way of storing bitcoin. A paper wallet is not connected to the Internet, can’t be hacked, and is not a third party you rely on.

Totally agree, we are to do everything possible to save the planet. And we all here, being pioneers in a new field, can make a real difference. Blockchain technology is very promising when it goes about saving the planet: https://www.wired.com/2017/05/curious-plan-save-environment-blockchain/

19  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is the common cause of poverty? on: October 16, 2017, 12:10:27 AM
The common cause of poverty is selfishness and egocentrism. We don't care that other people suffer. Or we don't care enough to stop kids dying from hunger in Africa, though we are building spaceships to Mars. If all of us were to care for our neighbors, relatives, friends, those in need, we could have built a better society.

Globally, the mean rate of sea level rise increased 50% in the last two decades. In 2017, temperatures have already reached their highest levels in history in some areas, from California to Vietnam. And the past three years were the hottest on record. It may be now not about to save or not to save the planet, but do we have any choice yet?
