4  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you give bitcoin as a wedding gift? on: October 03, 2017, 09:02:18 AM
Most bitcointalk users would be very happy about such a gift but if it is appropriate for bride and groom really depends on your relationship to them and if they are tech savvy enough to appreciate such a present.
Even they are not tech savvy they will appreciate it because a real person is not depending on the gift, if they are really not that materialistic kind of person then they will appreciate each and every gift that you will give to them. Bitcoin is a good gift for everyone because it will help them to change their lives.

Thats right of course. However the impact is another when you first of all have to explain to your new daughter in law what bitcoin is, how she can use it and how many days of honeymooning in paris she can fund with it Cheesy

100% justified to think you have read something wrong. I read the original post yesterday and searched with a search engine before i posted my last post today. Could not find an animalcoin and there is no petcoin. There is only dogecoin and potcoin. Have a nice day.

Guns for nobody! Not long ago the police used clubs and differences has been smoothed down with a fist fight. Yes i know for some countries this train has left the station but to arm the people even more makes no sense at all.

Needless to say. I talked about "beginners" and not about the user rank "newbie". Many here are producing an outstanding amount of low level posts just to get in a higher position fast.

11  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: is electrum 1.9.8 still usable... on: October 02, 2017, 10:43:28 PM
You should backup your seed if you haven't done so already, uninstall electrum using apt-get or whatever and then install python-setuptools, pyqt4 and python-pip. then download and install the latest electrum as per the installation instructions on electrum.org/#download . Unlike most software on linux electrum has to be installed manually from source tarball because it updates very often and distro vendors don't keep up with the latest.

apt-get purge electrum
apt-get autoremove
apt-get autoclean

Distro vendors really don't need to keep up with the latest electrum version but the should offer a working version and security updates.
Better write an email an ask for a new version!
12  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum MacOSX on Electrum page is outdated on: October 02, 2017, 10:35:30 PM
The developers have hidden the installer because it is not working. Any chance of a fix?
13  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: is electrum 1.9.8 still usable... on: October 02, 2017, 06:55:20 AM
Which linux distro do you use? If it doesn't work anymore why don't you write a mail to electrum's handler at your repository. We could really need more frequent updates.
14  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum MacOSX on Electrum page is outdated on: October 02, 2017, 06:44:03 AM
The build for MacOSX has not been updated. The search has been without results and the developer ThomasV hasn't been online at bitcointalk quite some time so i started a new thread. Is there any reason. Have i missed something?
15  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum TOR server list is down on: October 02, 2017, 06:25:17 AM
The TOR server list that is linked on the Electrum page is down. Is somebody able to continue the job? Does somebody have a backup and can share it here?

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Miners and antivirus on: October 02, 2017, 03:06:46 AM
I run my miners using systemd on Linux. In my systemd service file I have

ProtectSystem=strict
ProtectHome=yes

You could use selinux, apparmor, firejail and enforce even stricter rules.

use VM

Try with a benchmark if you can get the same GPU power in your VM than on your real OS. Extremely unlikely.

Too many beginners without knowledge lower the bar. Most stupid questions can be anwered with google. In every field pros look down on the lazy beginners. This is completely normal. Try harder.
