In terms of xmr\usd price is holding well.

I'm just trying to understand what btc is going to do.

Do you guys think it will hold 17-18k, go for a correction to 11-13k or pass the 20k range towards 25k?

Thanks for the advice. Should I try and prune the chain on the old wallet and sync the old wallet or should I download directly the new wallet without taking care of which block height on the chain the old wallet has reached? I hope I have explained myself properly...

Sorry, someone else will have to answer this I'm not up on the particulars. You should pm @dEBRUYNE if he doesn't see this question.

I stopped running a node quite awhile ago.

Thanks for the help. @dEBRUYNE has helped me out and everything has ben solved. Basically for now I didn't download the new wallet but just moved the blockchain from the laptop's hard drive to an external hard drive and redirected the Blockchain in my wallet towards the external hard drive.

Hi guys I have a problem with downloading the new GUI wallet. I would like to update my GUI wallet which has not been updated for over a year but unfortunately my GB storage is full (120GB storage mostly used already by Monero Blockchain and around 30GB operating system). I don't know what to do since I would need more space on the disk. Do you have any suggestions? If i buy a new laptop and download the new GUI wallet and Monero blockchain is there a way I can open directly my wallet on there? Thanks a lot in advance

Prune the chain.

Next week the G20 is coming up and they will also talk about crypto. As stated in the public document of the G20(: https://back-g20.argentina.gob.ar/sites/default/files/media/finance_ministerial_highlights.pdf) they understand that crypto has the potential to promote financial inclusion but at the same time they will try to analyse implications to financial stability, tax evasion and financing illegal activities. These statements are nothing new and very similar to what was said previously at the US senate hearings.

Could this have implications on Monero?

The other day I asked about the impact that the G20 might have on Monero and didn't get much attention. I guess that the line of thought is that no one really cares about what the G20 has to say about BTC or XMR since they can't stop us from having and using XMR.

What scared me though is that BTC (XMR followed) went on a run on the news that there won't be any special regulations coming up soon. This is strong evidence that govs and central banks have a very strong impact on crypto and can do whatever they want(weren't BTC and XMR born to be out of this system?). The fact that XMR price is so dependent on regulations is scary and this is a fact shown by the price movements following the news. Having no tight regulations is of course positive but what will happen when a crackdown arrives?. BTC and XMR just showed that they are super dependent on what govs and central banks say.

In the hypothetical scenario of upcoming regulations for privacy coins (bans on exchanges for example) XMR will be strongly affected as shown by positive response to G20 news.

I thought that XMR was way more resilient to regulations. Unfortunately correlation works both ways, up and down

Maybe crypto is like PMs where gold is still king after thousands of years.

Bitcoin is more like aluminum than gold.  In order to transfer value it takes much longer and costs vastly more than any other crypto of comparable monetary function.

It remains to be seen whether a settlements network can be salvaged from the ashes of the house Satoshi built and the core team burned down.  I would not invest in bitcoin now, simply because it is not useful now, and I have no confidence in the salvage crew.

Bitcoin should and I hope, will survive.  Its robustness (anti-fragility) is legend and so it is and will be for some time the standard bearer for all crypto.

A blind, arthritic and demented standard bearer does not seem like a good thing to me. Lack of utility, if it persists, will surely bleed its value inexorably down. I hope I am proven wrong because the wake of a sinking titan can capsize numerous lesser vessels. Even a sound one will be tossed brutally in those swells.

Monero has a lead for being perceived as honest and unflashy.  And it has a use-case.   As long as the use case is required it will be hard for other coins to take over its place.  Optional privacy may be added to other coins, but Monero's privacy by default is the only way, so it has a good chance of being one of the 'few' to make it.

Not only does it have a use case, but it is actually fit for purpose.  At least one of ten ICOs has a plausible, or even a legitimate and viable use case and hence a niche. But far fewer are actually fit for that use, and all have much narrower niches than monero, save perhaps transparent liquidity and possibly even contracts.  What is the likely successor to BTC for liquidity?  Well, LTC transfers per unit of market cap are vastly higher than BitcoinCash, so it is looking remarkably and surprisingly useful, in addition to it's tenure.

I don't think ETH is a robust contracts platform.  All the larceny is sufficient to discredit ETH.  Usability is still at the squat toilet level.  But...It could be a long while before a 10x better platform emerges - and that is usually what it takes to displace an incumbent, a 10x ROI.

Shouldn't LN make BTC liquid?

hahahahaahahhahah that website hahahahhahah

I suggest that if you want to try doing a scam you should at least design a website which is in some way decent. The current one seems to be done by a 5 yrs old, perhaps you should aim at 8

Please put an effort even if you're doing a scam

that website hahhahahahahahaahahah

scammerssssssssssss

do you guys think that BTCP (co-fork of ZCL and BTC) could have any impact on Monero? By impact I mean BTC holders that want to invest in a privacy coin could potentially prefer BTCP to Monero due to its name

Would it be possible to list BTCH on some bigger exchange? Ok Bittrex might be a long shot but Cryptopia? From what I understand BarterDEX will be the first exchange to support BTCH..

Dear Aminorex,

I find your economic analysis around XMR really inspiring and detailed (i made a lot of research around the web but still can't find any better economic analysis). So first of all thank you for sharing. I will now dive into the subject:

Total market cap of crypto is now growing at around 20-30bn per day and I can't figure out how long this could last. At this rate we will reach 2T in no time. At some point this will probably burst and unfortunately affect also XMR since market risk cannot be avoided. From what I understand reading your posts is that these are normal cycles in crypto that repeat over time. My concern is that this time the dimensions are way bigger in relation to time, we went from total market cap of 200bn to 800bn in 3 months. I'm not saying that the market will crash at 2T as you can hear many people making comparisons with the market cap of Gold which is around 6T. What scares me is that all crypto shitty coins are growing 10x and people are buying into them without even knowing the name of the coin. I can't figure out for how long this game of hot potato will last. I am trying to understand who are the last people getting in that will get burnt, right now even average Joe is buying into crypto after hearing about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ripple and Tron spectacular returns. Average Joe is also greedy and stupid but not dumb so he buys into coins that have very low prices without looking at the market cap and circulating supply. He goes on Binance (slightly more sophisticated average Joe) and buys the low priced ones. He hopes that tomorrow another average Joe is willing to buy at a higher price. At some point the game ends since tomorrow there are no more buyers.
Is there any analysis that could be made to understand how many more average Joes are still left out that want to join?
How are institutional investors playing the game now? How is smart money playing the game?
From the rumours ETFs could come out soon so that could bring even more liquidity to the market and could possibly delay the bubble burst, is this the temporary solution to more liquidity?

Anyone can feel free to answer my questions.
