Try to increase size of physical RAM, for 4 290 cards at least 4GB is necessary, 5 cards may require even more. You can also try to increase size of virtual memory.
I came home to the rig only showing 4 cards and the 5th's fan spinning at 100%. moved the 5th card in to a different pci slot, increased virtual mem to 18GB: 5x Sapphire R9 290 Tri X @ 1000/1250 Speed: 3731 h/s, TotalHashes: 503585K, DevHashes: 12588K Mining time: 38:14 10:07:25:440 99c GPU 0: HashCnt = 1280, time = 1698 ms, hashrate = 753 h/s 10:07:25:480 99c Round 10:07:25:880 594 GPU 4: HashCnt = 1280, time = 1702 ms, hashrate = 752 h/s 10:07:25:905 594 Round 10:07:26:035 eb0 GPU 1: HashCnt = 1280, time = 1697 ms, hashrate = 754 h/s 10:07:26:070 eb0 Round 10:07:26:100 890 GPU 3: HashCnt = 1280, time = 1696 ms, hashrate = 754 h/s 10:07:26:115 890 Round 10:07:26:705 77c GPU 2: HashCnt = 1280, time = 1746 ms, hashrate = 733 h/s 10:07:26:740 77c Round Looking good.

5x 290 rig, I have virtual memory set to 16GB, no overclock, I've actually set memory down to 1250 from stock 1300.
Thanks.

This miner app is pissing me right off, I cannot get any version past 3.4 to run stable without the OS hanging. I have tried a load of different settings, drivers, underclock's etc and all the same, app crashes and takes out the OS. My batch file looks like this:
:BEGIN start "CryptoNote" /low /wait NsGpuCNMiner.exe -o stratum+tcp://pool.minexmr.com:7777 -p x -u [XMR Address] -a 2 -wd 1 -ee 1 timeout /t 30 GOTO BEGIN exit
I have tried both 13.12 and 14.6 drivers, Windows 7 and 8.1, I currently have my tri-x cards underclocked to 947/1250 but it also happens with them at stock clocks, I have 6 cards in each rig and nothing I do seems to fix the hangs in OpenCL call, app crash and then OS hang.
Beyond frustrated.
Anyone running similar set-ups, what OS, drivers, miner version etc?
Please create a Linux version of this app, with the 5% fee you have made from everyone surely should fund a Linux version, or maybe even just open source it and let the community make this application better.
I tried your script, it starts the miner every 30s without closing the previous one. So there will be multiple miners running simultaneously. How do we stop the previous miner and start a new one? Is it possible to write a script to test if the miner is running smoothly, if not, then stop the miner and start and a new one? That's not what I get with that script, it starts the miner and then if the -wd 1 option kills the app and restarts is after 30 seconds, I've been using that since version 2 of the miner. I've now got 2 rigs that just will not stay running on windows 8.1 with either 13.12 or 14.6 drivers and any version of the miner app, I get watchdog: thread {some big number} hangs. exit.....but it doesn't exit and instead takes out the OS, absolute pain in the ass. Why are we paying a 5% fee if the app doesn't work with certain configurations and there have been no updates, feedback from the dev. It may work on your system, but is your system like many peoples out there, probably not, and if we are paying a fee then you should be asking questions from people who are having issues with your app. I have three 7950 rigs that have been hashing away for weeks with no issues yet I have nothing but problems with my tri-x 290 rigs. I'm about to give up and mine any old shit x1* coin as the only windows miner doesn't work yet I'm paying for the privilege, great....please sort it out.

At present, there is no competition, so Claymore can name its price.
We need another miner with higher or same efficiency.
I'm sure other miners exist, but no one is releasing them. There was a bounty to make an open source GPU miner for both Nvidia and AMD, but hardly any money went into the fund. So for the display driver hackers, they can either make thousands of dollars in profit a day, or give the miner to the community to win a weak bounty. For everyone in this thread complaining, put your money where your mouth is and make a massive bounty for a comparable open source miner. Tell me where to send some coin towards a bounty where someone isn't going to run off with it and I'll donate.

It's not worth going beyond 3.0 for the slim speed bump compared to the hellishly unstable environment it creates. I don't, and am content. The speed increase and the power reduction are nice though and I would like to be able to take advantage, but this app just crashes out. What are we paying 5% for if not for further production of the app?

Dunno if Dev follows this thread or not but I figured I would pass my findings along...
I have 2 6XR9-290 rigs. I downloaded CryptoNote Miner 5.1 beta a week or so ago and started mining XMR. I am running 13.12 modded drivers and have my rigs dialed back to 924/1250 @ powertune -15 (voltage and fans controlled by MSI Afterburner) to keep wattage and heat down. My temps and fans average in the 70C/70% with the reference style cards and 64C/63% with the 6 "Gigabyte Windstream OC" style cards at around 1500 watts per miner. With standard v5.1 files and these settings, I am pushing around 3690H/s with the reference cards and around 3740 with the Windstream OC cards.
So I thought I would download the latest v6.1 and see if there were any new optimizations that would increase hash. What I found was that the v6.1 lowered H/s by about 100H/s per unit. Thinking maybe I needed the 14.6 drivers, I tried the trick I learned from SGMiner v5 where instead of replacing the rock solid 13.12 video card drivers with the 14.6 drivers, I just unpacked the 14.6 open cl files and copied them into the CryptoNote directory where the mining executable was. I could tell a huge difference right off the bat with one rig pushing 3880Hh/s and the other 3790H/s. But within about 5 minutes the hash rate was back down to about 75-100 less H/s each than the older v5.1 averaged. I wasn't happy with that so I rebooted the machines again and went back with the v5.1 install. On a whim, I copied the 14.6 open cl files out of the v6.1 directory into the v5.1 directory to see what that would do... Wow! Nice little 50 H/s boost out of each unit! Now the miner with the reference cards is averaging 3740 and the Windstream unit is pushing 3790.
Not sure why it works so well like that, but there it is!
Appreciate your efforts!
I can test miner only on my rigs and v6.1 is the best for me. I get completely different feedbacks for every version - some people like v4, some people like v5, some people have problems with all versions except v6.1. Miner uses video memory a lot, it causes problems or unstability on some systems. I tried many different approaches in code in different versions so you can select the best version for your configuration. Unfortunately, it seems there is no way to build one version that will work on all configurations properly, AMD drivers often work strangely if miner has to use a lot of memory, especially on multi-GPU systems. I would like to see a Linux version so as when the app crashes it doesn't take out the whole OS. Windows is shit for mining, having a linux miner that could work with BAMT/PiMP would be a preferred solution. People who are running 5,6+ card rigs might want to take a look at lbr's application - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=712228.msg8045134 - works well with my setups, just wish the miner would be a bit more stable.

Could someone be kind enough to point me to the latest versions of the GPU mining software for Windows and Linux?
Thanks in advance.
There ain't no Linux miner available and please refer to page 1 of this thread for a link to the latest miner for AMD cards.

I checked the box for Modify Registry and ran the app, restarted the machine and still had one of the cards showing a 43 error code. I then checked the box for Modify Registry and Force, ran the app and also merged the reg file manually then restarted and all cards were working. I should have restarted first without merging the reg file to test properly but it had been a long day so sorry for the poor testing there.
Hm.. maybe I do have some bugs in 'Modify Registry'.. Or not.. Sadly I've not implemented reporting mod results back to me so I could find what exactly is going on.. Anyway, will check. Headless, I was running windows 7 x64 with 6x Sapphire Tri-x 290's and mining Monero but kept getting lockups with any of Claymore's miners past 3.4 so I decided to give windows 8.1 a try. I have four of these rigs but testing on two of them, if I remove the monitor and then teamviewer in, all I get is a black screen. This issue was present before the mod and I have read a few people stating the exact same thing - http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/1wdawz/headless_windows_81_290x/ - With windows 7 I was restricted to a 640x480 teamviewer window, but at least I could see the desktop and there was just enough space to use the machine, windows 8.1 I get nothing. I have ordered a few of these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00C9UB9OK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - as the cards only have dvi-d, hdmi and display port and all of the dvi converters I have are dvi-i > vga. Fingers crossed. Yeah.. 640x480 also pisses me off. I've solved it by plugging dummy display emulator - into one of the cards ; ) This restriction comes from some mess about display detection logic and unlikely to be fixed ever. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/8a9b5aa7-fe33-4e6d-b39b-8ac80a21fdc2/disable-monitor-off-detection-how?forum=w7itprogeneralLong and sad story how certain software and hardware manufacturers could not or didn't want to make things 'right'. Try - setx DISPLAY ":0" and reboot, without this my Windows Server rigs don't work headless and both TeamViewer and some VNC servers show black screen. Thanks for the link to the hdmi dummy plug, if these others that I have bought don't work I will try them and I'll give the setx command a go, will let you know how that works out.

Hasn't worked for me, win 8.1 x64, 14.6rc2, I still have one of the cards showing code 43 (5 out of 6 working) what am I doing wrong?
What did you do exactly? With default config(checkboxes) app won't anything - it will just create reg files for you to execute manually. If you check "Modify Registry" - then it will apply changes. Also, do you run your rig headless, every time I unplug the monitor my teamviewer session shows a black screen, I can't see anything.
Edit: Manually merged the reg file and it seems to have worked this time, now I just need to work out the headless side of it.
I'm running headless with 6x290. What GPUs are you using? And was the issue present before the mod? Thanks for replying to my questions. many rigs with 5 cards and 14.6 drivers. no problem. That's nice but I have 6 card rigs that all work mining x11/13 etc with no problems and getting 6 cards to run under windows 7 I have only seen the LBR mod allowing them all to work with 13.12 cats. Anyone using more than 5 cards, running windows 7 or 8, what drivers?

On a few of my rigs using any miner after 3.4, I get constant crashes and machine hangs which is a PITA as I have to drive to my location to restart them. I've ran a lot of tests, clocks set to stock, over and underclocked and I get constant machine lockups after a few hours. The worst rigs are my 6x tri-x 290'with the machine hang issue, I have a few 4x 7950 rigs as well and get a lockup on a couple of those. Logs on all are similar to the following: 18:59:33:839 5c8 watchdog - thread 0, hb time 1965 18:59:33:839 c68 Round 18:59:33:849 5c8 WATCHDOG: Thread 0 hangs in OpenCL call, exit 18:59:33:859 5c8 watchdog - thread 1, hb time 671 18:59:33:859 5c8 watchdog - thread 2, hb time 1950 18:59:33:859 5c8 watchdog - thread 3, hb time 0 18:59:33:859 5c8 watchdog - thread 4, hb time 234 18:59:33:859 5c8 watchdog - thread 5, hb time 0 18:59:33:849 f00 Time gpu (2): 1950563 18:59:33:869 5c8 Restarting OK, exit... It looks like the miner app restarts a couple of times as there are a couple of additional logs files that are just 1kb in size with only the following in: 19:01:34:659 b2c 19:01:34:739 b2c ÉÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ» 19:01:34:739 b2c º Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v6.1 Beta º 19:01:34:739 b2c ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍͼ It then hangs the system but there is very little info in the event viewer as to why. Once this happens the machine drops off the network and I have to reset it to get it going again. Something a bit odd with my 290 rigs, if I actually downclock the core/mem to 947/1250, I get a faster hashrate...? at stock and any overclock I get under 3900, but down clocking the cards results in a higher hashrate. Bit odd. I see no hashrate increases by adjusting mem, only changes to the core appear to have an effect on hashrate. It doesn't work with my 7950 rigs, but I'll take lower power usage from the 6 card rigs any day. I'm running 13.12 drivers with LBR's mod from https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=11761.msg85946#msg85946 to get 6+ cards running under windows 7. I'll stick with 3.4 for now but anyone else having similar issues?

I've tried 4.2 and 5.0 on my rigs, either the OS hangs or the application hangs and I have to physically restart them. Going back to 3.4 as I had zero trouble with that.

I have a few rigs running 4x7950 (msi) and get around 1900h/s, 475h/s per card with 1120/1250. I also have a few rigs running 6x290 (sapphire) with 1100/1300 getting around 3900h/s, 650h/s per card.
I have tried upping memory but see very little changes in speed compared to say scrypt mining so performance/power suits myself best with those clocks.
How do you get 650 h/s per card. I've got only 385 h/s for 290... 4x7950 @ 1120/1250 6x290 @ 1100/1300 3.1 miner was very stable for myself, have updated them to 3.4 miner and it looks as stable but with the added bonus of going back to main pool. All rigs are running windows 7x64, 13.12 cats, 8GB RAM and 16GB pagefile. For the 6 card rigs I'm using the 13.12 mod https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=11761.0, that trick has also worked on one of my rigs with 4x7950 and 1x 280x. I was running one of my rigs with an 8GB pagefile for a while without realising, changed it to 16GB and got the same hashrate, so not sure what that was about.

is it normal that I have 493 h/s on 7950 with 14.6 driver?..
No thats not normal Thats too good to be true... Nvidia performace is still crap compared to AMD yes, I saw others results and I understood that my hashrate is to big, but... I have only Asus 7950 (1150/1600) - I assure you guys And as I can see in pool stats - that is real speed 1150/1600 - That's a cause. So nothing special... Btw i got 458 h/s on 7950 (1000/1250). 7950 have 1536 SP,similar speed compare to 280X (470H/s,2048 SP ,1000/1500). I have a few rigs running 4x7950 (msi) and get around 1900h/s, 475h/s per card with 1120/1250. I also have a few rigs running 6x290 (sapphire) with 1100/1300 getting around 3900h/s, 650h/s per card. v2.2 is available:
- Fixed bugs.
Thanks for the updated miner, is there a way to swap back to the primary pool once it becomes active again? I can add option to disconnect from current pool and try to connect to first pool in the list every hour. Something like that, similar to cg/sgminer and check to see if it is primary pool is alive and auto switch back without dropping any hashes.
