Which is the best way to earn BTC do you think?   Roll Eyes

1) Fauceting
2) Trading
3) Mining
4) Article writing (Forum)
5) Investing

I think Article writing is the best way.  Cool
Tell me your opinion.I want to know about this.Thank you.

 Grin

Hey skyland999, why do you think article writing is the best way to earn BTC? I'm curious.

To answer your question-- I think it depends on the skills and resources you have, and the amount of work you're willing to put out.

If you're starting out with nothing but only a computer and an internet connection, then offering services (like writing articles) or selling (digital) products in exchange for BTC might be the best option for you.

If you already have a few satoshis in your virtual pocket, then maybe you can start trading and investing them to generate more of them.

Finally, if you have the money, knowledge, and opportunity (that is, location + low-cost power-generating capacity) to build mining rigs and compete with the large-scale miners around the world, then certainly mining might be an option for you (especially if you just want to create a "passive bitcoin-generating machine" and would rather do something else throughout the day).
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: January 06, 2018, 10:51:12 PM
is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? anyhow this money sits in the bank and do nothing for!

Is this really a serious question, or is the poster just trolling, or just plain stupid? A lot of reasons have already been given above as to why converting all your money to bitcoin (or any altcoin, for that matter) is such as stupid idea, that this comment has almost become unnecessary.

Let me just leave here a popular saying, (which should be self-explanatory) -- "Don't put all your eggs in one basket."
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The primary idea of bitcoin on: November 01, 2017, 04:57:53 PM

I think primary and main idea of bitcoins was to make world a better place to live, to shorten gap between rich and poor, educated and non educated people...

Not sure where you got this notion. If you've read Satoshi Nakamoto's white paper on bitcoin, it's clear that what he wanted to accomplish was for money to be exchanged between two individuals without the need for a third party to confirm/uphold the transaction.

To quote Satoshi,

Quote
[Bitcoin is a] purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash [that] would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution...

... and then he goes about describing the solution he's come up for accomplishing just that.

Also, note that the proposal for bitcoin was released after the 2007-2009 financial crisis, so you can also see the context where Nakamoto is coming from.

Re: mining farms now holding most of the world's bitcoins -- if true, I sincerely doubt that Nakamoto foresaw the possible 'dangers' to bitcoin if ever there were just a few individuals/groups holding the world's supply of bitcoins. Truth be told, he only envisioned CPUs to be used for mining (and not the mining 'rigs' that are used today), as mentioned in the white paper.

Having just a few groups/individuals own much of the world's bitcoins do seem to pose an issue, as it defeats the purpose for which bitcoin was created-- decentralization.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons to Invest in Bitcoin, Possibility of $1 Trillion Market Cap on: November 01, 2017, 04:36:08 PM
Bitcoin is going to ‘Amazon’ the banks. Bitcoin is is a way to remove the third party from financial services. Just like Amazon to retail. Amazon comes in and they go direct to consumers. [This is going to be] the ‘bitcoining’ of the banks, said Brain Kelly.

This is new level of popularity of Bitcoin.

What Amazon did to brick-&-mortar bookstores = What email did to the post office = What Skype/messaging did to long-distance phone calling = What bitcoin will be doing to the banking sector and related industries. But as noted, bitcoin still has a lot of issues to be fixed; the same way it was with Paypal and Amazon during their 'infant' years.

Yes, everything is looking good. We just have to do our part in making bitcoin an essential part of our lives to effectively educate the public about it.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does Bitcoin work for online shopping? on: November 01, 2017, 02:21:13 PM
When you buy something on eBay or Amazon, you pay the seller, he ships the product and upload a tracking number.
If you haven't received the item, you can call eBay or Amazon and, basically, what happens is that if they have a tracking number that shows that the item has been delivered, then it is ok, otherwise eBay or Amazon reverses the transaction and you get your money back.
Is that possible with bitcoin? What if I buy a boat online for 2 bitcoins and I never receive it? Is bitcoin able to solve this problem?

Thanks

As one forum member have already suggested, you can use BitPay for issues like these. But BitPay might not be the best option for you out there. Other BitPay alternatives you might want to consider are Adyen, BlueSnap, and Stripe. You can read a comparison of their services here, along with other alternatives to the three aforementioned services.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how to secure bitcoin wallet?? on: October 26, 2017, 11:27:26 AM
hacker are always trying to take money from wallet. I am very worried about the security of my wallet. what are the best way to secure wallet so that my bitcoin will always safe and secured. help me to find me the ways.

The answer to your question lies in how you posed your question-- if you are worried about the hackers, then don't give them a chance to have an access to your stuff! What I'm saying is, you need to keep things OFFLINE, so that there is no way that any hacker can reach you.

Online wallets have their use though-- keep a small amount of your bitcoins online for your personal use. But be sure that this amount is something you can afford to lose.. because, you never can tell what can happen whenever you go online.

Btw, keeping an offline wallet is also called "cold storage" in the bitcoin community. You can find more info here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Cold_storage

Pero marahil baka hindi ganun kadaling i-implement ito, because that would mean editing mismo yung code ng Simple Machines app, which this Bitcoin Forum is using.

Oh well...
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin ever be $5,000 again? on: October 23, 2017, 11:16:15 PM
Bitcoin was at its lowest in its recent history at around 17 September 2017, when it hit around $3000, after hitting $5000 just at the beginning of September. That's a $2K change in value within a month!

So there's probably no solid reason why bitcoin's value should NOT plunge even in a 30-day period (we still have around 68 days before the year ends). BUT.. starting around mid-2017 bitcoin's value has begun to rise and has never looked back.. so hopefully the prospects of it maintaining a value of between $4500 to $6500 before the year ends is good.
9  Other / Off-topic / Re: Rick and Morty on: October 23, 2017, 03:52:35 PM
I've never watched it! is it similar to any other programmes already out there?

Well, the characters were based on Doc & Marty of Back to the Future fame.. but other than the similarities in the characters' quirkiness, Rick & Morty is a totally different show. The plot is awesome, the way they pay homage to various previous sci-fi work is amazing, and the the writers' exploration of what-might-be's when we have a super-intelligent scientist (in the person of Rick) who have invented a way to traverse different dimensions in so short a time (through his portal gun) is downright astounding.

Note that there are a lot of swearing in the dialogue (if you're able to watch the uncensored version); in comparison, while the original BTTF was supposedly a family-friendly movie trilogy. Cheesy

("'Coz it's cool to pay with it.")

Kaya next time na magpagupit ka, manood ng sine, kumain sa restoran, o bumili ng pandesal, tanungin agad ang pinagbilhan mo -- "tumatanggap ba kayo ng bitcoin dito"?

Hi Cptdeniz,

I don't know about your programming background, but definitely you need to possess a lot of programming chops for you to be able to create your own cryptocurrency (that should be obvious, isn't it?). Depending on your 'mad coding skillz', this video might help: https[Suspicious link removed]HWTTiE-I
13  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Curse of open source on: October 23, 2017, 11:26:08 AM
The course of open source is obvious.
If you do not leave your code open source you gain no trust.
If you do you risk being forked with an one-liner, so what is the point?

OP, I believe you're just being paranoid. The problem you mentioned above is not yours, is it?

Part of the beauty of open source is the possibility of collaboration with other programmers, and it can only happen if they can work with and insert improvements to the code you've written.

The "risk" of being forked (if you can really call that a risk) is present only if you prove to be 'unworthy' in leading the direction of the progress of your software (i.e., you're not that good of a programmer, or your vision for your software sucks); and other, more-forward thinking programmers disagree with you and have better ideas as to the direction the software should go.

Otherwise, think of it as something you're doing to benefit the community, not something that will make you rich (since that is not a guarantee, but it sometimes does happen).
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Satoshi Nakamoto Matter? on: October 23, 2017, 09:56:23 AM
I thought Satoshi Nakamoto was a pseudonym that refered to 3 or so people who developed bitcoin together

That was one of the theory, but as some documentaries have already explored (The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin, Banking on Bitcoin, for example), he could be any one or some of the original cypherpunks (Hal Finney & Nick Szabo in particular), or Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto, or maybe even Craig Wright, as he's so adamant that he's Satoshi Nakamoto. 15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you believe in god? on: October 23, 2017, 09:42:48 AM
After much study for the lack of proof for the existence of a god who supposedly controls the universe, I've come to the belief that god was/is an invention of man, to cope with realities in the world that he cannot explain yet and questions that he doesn't have an answer yet (like where the hell did we come from?).

But once he's able to answer these questions (e.g. why does the sun rise in the east and set in the west?), his need for a god vanishes away, little by little, according to the answers he's able to form for the big questions that he's got.

Of course a lot of people would give their reasons for why god exists; so if you are one of them, it might be helpful for you to read this: http://www.atheistrepublic.com/blog/arminnavabi/why-there-no-god-quick-responses-10-common-theist-arguments

Take care and have a good day.
16  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Free eBook: Bitcoin Beginner: A Step By Step Guide To Buying, Selling &Investing on: October 23, 2017, 09:34:16 AM
Thanks for sharing this! I actually got a hold of the book through a friend. Here's what I think of the book:

PROS: very short, concise discussions on the topics listed above, so it will give you all the information you need in no time at all! (ebook is about 68 pages) Author writes in a very clear manner; no jargons or confusing sentences whatsoever.

CONS: a bit outdated, as some of the websites and services listed are no longer in existence (e.g. Mt.Gox, BitInstant, etc.) (Or maybe what I was given is an earlier of the book, not the 2017 (updated, I presume) version listed above.)

Would still be a worthy read and buy for anyone new to Bitcoin! I learned a lot from the 3-4 or so hours I spent reading the book from cover to cover.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best Bitcoin film? on: October 21, 2017, 03:35:48 PM
I've only watched three bitcoin films to date, and I think each one of them is a must-watch for any bitcoin fanatic. Here is the ranking I'd give to the three (from best to good):

1. The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin (IMDB)
2. Bitcoin: The End of Money as We Know It (IMDB)
3. Banking on Bitcoin (IMDB)

Enjoy!  Wink Grin Grin
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kickstarter: Bitcoin - The End of Money As We Know It on: October 21, 2017, 03:20:48 PM
I've just recently watched this documentary and I would like to take my hat off to its creator. The documentary's discussion on the history of money was solid-- it will really challenge your understanding of what and how money should be, and society's role and power in having a say in how it's created and regulated.

It gave a good intro and rationale for why we should have and use bitcoin (and the other crypto-currencies), although IMO it fell short in showing how bitcoin would really end money as we know it. (The story of how the Silk Road story 'tarnished' bitcoin's reputation should've been discussed extensively, as it shows some of the pitfalls of the 'budding' crypto-currency industry.)

Overall, still a good watch; I'd give it an 8/10 rating if this is IMDB.  Grin Grin
19  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-1-12] ‘Banking on Bitcoin’ is the latest Bitcoin documentary on: October 21, 2017, 03:08:53 PM
I have watched this film recently and I must say, it's an interesting docu to watch. I'd give it a rating of 7/10. The shots and editing were professionally done, the interviews were solid, even the outro scene (featuring Craig Wright desperately claiming that he's Satoshi Nakamoto) was somewhat funny.

The only thing I have with the film-- it seems its title is not really connected to its content. With the title "Banking on Bitcoin," I hoped to see stories of recent 'converts' who are amassing or mining bitcoin (and probably other crypto-currencies), how they're doing it, and how it's affecting their lives.

The film did not tackle this (given its title), so I'm quite disappointed.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Banking on Bitcoin" - A new bitcoin documentary on: October 21, 2017, 03:01:29 PM
Just finished watching this documentary a few minutes ago. I'd give it a score of 7/10 (not really that much different from its IMDB rating). It touches on some of the early history of Bitcoin, the early players in the crypto-currency industry, the search for the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, etc. It's a good docu to watch if you want a simple 'backgrounder' on bitcoin's history and the controversies that surrounded it since its inception.

However, it fails to live up to its title (IMO)-- "Banking on Bitcoin" (or maybe the documentary's authors were just playing with words). With that title, and since the docu was created just recently, I was expecting a bit more exploration on how bitcoin has penetrated the mainstream and how it's affecting it, how it is changing the current practices in the trade of money/goods, and how the lives of the early adopters have been changed because of it (for better or worse).

It would've been more satisfying if it tackled those topics (for me at least), but alas, it didn't.

(Generally still a good watch though.)
