1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Transaction stuck and "double spent" after increasing the fee on: December 09, 2017, 10:16:56 AM
Transaction processed now.
Although it's still "double spent" on blocktrail. I'd be happy to understand how this gets fixed
or whether it matters at all.

Ooooops.

After writing it occurred to me to look at the news and realized that I'm a cog in a giant party.
https://news.bitcoin.com/200000-unconfirmed-transactions-pile-another-crazy-day-bitcoin/

Still, it'll be appreciated if someone can let me know whether I did anything non-optimally.

Helen

PS: Originally I planned to ask the following philosophical question after/if I received answers.
I think I can ask it now since it's already old:
With bitcoin getting increasingly popular, is there any provision in place for future huge transaction flows?
people after all will need the thing for actual transactions if it is to be trusted as a tool.
3  Bitcoin / Electrum / Transaction stuck and "double spent" after increasing the fee on: December 08, 2017, 08:47:46 PM
Yesterday I sent this transaction with a fee of ~0.33mBTC:
https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/91e841994f648767a07ab8b19ceffd4fa7cdf3de727227c2707ff01d9489d970

This morning I saw it stuck. After reading a little, I raised the fee to ~0.41mBTC.
This fee was supposed to make the transaction proceed within 25 blocks maximum,
but it is still stuck with zero confirmations and also marked as double spent.
On Bitpanda, the receiver, both deposits appear as "processing".

Help, please? I'm very earnestly at a loss, since I believe I followed the nominal solution.

Thank you!
It was a small loss but I'd rather this doesn't happen to many more people.

Thank you both for the replies -

Unfortunately it seems that this was part of a scam, one a little more elaborate
than usual.
Well at least it's good to learn, even this way, that addresses can indeed be reused!...

In this case it'd be helpful if you people could point out where scam sites involving
crypto can be reported. With a quick search I didn't find anything community-based
but I expect there is some reference list out there. I've already reported the address
and what seems to be its "container" address at http://bitcoinwhoswho.com

Cheers
6  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re-used an old address to receive, no transaction is done on: October 20, 2017, 11:43:50 PM
Hi -
I'm sure people somewhere are reading the subject and chuckling, but this is what happened.

Almost three days ago I decided to try for the first time to reuse an old wallet address for receiving
some good old (fraction of a) bitcoin.
Note that I had used this address before to receive from the same sender. Also, I have both sent
and received several times with them without any trouble.

I initiated the transaction on their website, I got a usual message that it was initiated, and then
nothing happened. There is no transaction showing on the site and there's nothing new happening
in my wallet.

I'm in the dark, as I understand that this shouldn't have happened. If you have some suggestion
that can help please share it.
Cheers
