Hi -
I'm sure people somewhere are reading the subject and chuckling, but this is what happened.

Almost three days ago I decided to try for the first time to reuse an old wallet address for receiving
some good old (fraction of a) bitcoin.
Note that I had used this address before to receive from the same sender. Also, I have both sent
and received several times with them without any trouble.

I initiated the transaction on their website, I got a usual message that it was initiated, and then
nothing happened. There is no transaction showing on the site and there's nothing new happening
in my wallet.

I'm in the dark, as I understand that this shouldn't have happened. If you have some suggestion
that can help please share it.
Cheers

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

To help you I need two pieces of information:
1. What site did you use?
2. What is the address?

Do you still deinitely have contol over this address, is it on your computer in a wallet or is it on another service?

If you still have any questions you can post the TX (transaction) here and we can look at it for you.

Thank you both for the replies -

Unfortunately it seems that this was part of a scam, one a little more elaborate
than usual.
Well at least it's good to learn, even this way, that addresses can indeed be reused!...

In this case it'd be helpful if you people could point out where scam sites involving
crypto can be reported. With a quick search I didn't find anything community-based
but I expect there is some reference list out there. I've already reported the address
and what seems to be its "container" address at http://bitcoinwhoswho.com

Firstly, sorry to hear it was a scam Sad

Secondly, if you wish to report a website as being a scam to try and help the rest of the community avoid falling into the same trap... I would suggest you go here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

It is the "Scam Accusations" sub forum here at BitcoinTalk... be sure to read the "sticky" post that explains how to properly format your post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260073.0

Thank you!
It was a small loss but I'd rather this doesn't happen to many more people.
