Hello everybody,

It’s good to see you all so actively supporting Shadow and staying positive as we work towards the release of our decentralized market. As some of you may have noticed, we’ve been a bit quiet on these forums lately when it comes to actively reaching out to all of you with development updates. This doesn’t mean we’ve been sitting still though, because we have a fun week ahead of us. We'll come back to that later.

First of all we are very happy to announce that both Tecnovert and I will be working full-time on Shadow from now on! We're setting our main jobs aside for the upcoming months so that we can really focus on the job at hand. This will obviously result in quicker progress when it comes to releasing new features. Going forward we are also going to post a lot more in terms of development reports. Our team has been working with Shadow community members who are setting up a new website with a development blog to keep you all up to date. So expect regular updates from now on - this one being the first.

The weeks ahead of us are all about ShadowMarket so we are pleased to announce that we have started integrating it into Shadowcore’s back end. We're currently switching from scrypt to SHA-256 so that staking requires less cpu cycles, updating to PoS v2 to improve network stability and working on BIP32 and BIP44 support so that we can support hierarchical / tree categories for the market. Once we are finished with these enhancements, things should start moving significantly faster. We will be making radical changes to the Secure Messaging (ShadowChat), to support Pub/Sub messages, so that people could subscribe to certain categories for the market, where we will then move towards our first round of public alpha/beta testing. We’ve noticed there are lots of questions about how ShadowMarket will work so we have begun gathering them and will answer them in an overview later this week. So much about the upcoming Shadowmarket for now.

We are all still waiting for Isidor Zeuner’s review of our ShadowSend anonymity system in comparison to other anonymous cryptocurrencies. It is still ongoing and we are currently writing more documentation, which is currently our weakest point. We’ve been in contact with Isidor and are trying to give him a helping hand where needed. Please note that it’s quite a task seeing as he will not only study our system but also compare it to the alternatives out there.

As said earlier, we have a fun week ahead of us. We will try to give more specific details on that later this week.

Thank you all for your support!

Nice! Thanks for the update, shadow is doing great  Smiley

It will be interesting to see whether Bitcoin can adopt CN functionality. It would a win for privacy and freedom, but bad for my XMR investment: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2oh7vq/toward_unlinkable_bitcoin_transactions_andrew/

Can BTC dev team add ring signatures without having to fork?

my nose gets some really bad smell here

someone knows something we dont know

and we will be the last ones to learn about it when it is too late

they are dumping non-stop since 36k peak whenever they see buy wall or whenever they find the volume

sorry but i lost my trust to sdcdev and the core community....anyway like they say; they owe us nothing

and like i always say, price tells the truth....but normal people like we will learn that truth when it is too late

I think u are overthinking this and are mind-fucking yourself. Pump and dump happens with everycoin.
When ZK will be released there will be another pump, but in the future there will be another dump. It's just the way it goes with crypto. Chill out man
It is the way of economics in general. Not limited to cryptos.

I agree but for example a pump that shoots the price up with 80% in a day is a common sight in the crypto-market while in forex u will never see a move even close to that. Stocks is possible but pump and dumps are easily achieved in the crypto market because of the small market cap that a lot of altcoins have.

I get what you mean though Tongue

Interesting, where did you get this info from?

You guys are really bad with this thread moderation.
You criticize governments wanting to control everything and you do the same as them. When a person have not the same opinion as your, you fight them or remove his post. You are doing the opposite of what the cryptos represent!
You guys are really afraid of trolls or people with different opinion???
If you want fight them, you can do it with tech, new products and innovation. Trolls have no power if there is real work on background.

People can have different opinions and that's fine, but trolls that continue to bash SDC without showing any proof to back up there claims will be removed. That way people that are interested in the coin don't have to work there way through tons of posts made by trolls filled with BS.

How many MM are used during mixing?

Each round of mixing happens via one Masternode chosen at random from the total number, with (currently, IIRC)two other participant mixers. You may repeat this process between 2 and 8 times via the setting in the wallet, or as often as you like by taking coins already mixed through 8 rounds and repeating the process.

Thanks for the reply! I'm a noob when it comes to drk but I find it a very interesting coin Smiley

So it it using 3 MN's during a mixing process, or 1 like u said?

8 rounds of mixing would mean 8 rounds at the same mixer, or 8 different ones?

Thanks

Each round uses 1 masternode with 3 parties (you, and two other people wanting coins mixed). After the round, another, random masternode is used with two different people to mix your then mixed funds. Rinse and repeat.

Ah okay I get it thanks!

Reading the OP I really don't get how anonymity is achieved. Could someone explain it in a simple way?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW and Darksend | Instant TX on: December 01, 2014, 02:26:41 PM
DRK has some similarities to TOR with how the mixing works. While it's probably not perfect it's a huge gain in anonymity over using BTC.

How many MM are used during mixing?

Why is deleting those trolls stopped??

I don't have problems with them, or reading posts, but should be deleted for new members of SDC community, they can get them seriously.

How can something fails if is not started yet??

Probably they would like to devs release semi product, but like we all know, SDC brings only perfect things,
and products that nobody had before.

I overslept that dump rush, actually I would take first look after this post : )

So, be patient like Ryno wrote, or sell if you have no beliefs.

I agree this thread has to be moderated. There is nothing wrong with asking questions but obvious trolls should be deleted.
Just went trough 3 pages and it's filled with BS from trolls.

Edit:

Update from SDCdev: "Hi Everyone

Sorry we've been so quiet, we've been having mandatory power outages, or load schedding as they call it.

Now that the bad news is out the way, we've been making loads of progress with our anon transactions.

We have fully anonymous transactions, working on testnet at the moment, but we received quite a bit of input from people
testing, saying it was confusing / difficult to use, so we've been trying our best to make it as simple as possible.

We have made loads of progress, and will be releasing our next build for testnet very soon.

We've also decided that we need to start giving weekly updates, so Soepkip has offered to start getting on my case.

The testing has been going really well, and we've eliminated hopefully all of the bugs.
We're just putting the finishing touches on some of our latest enhancements, then we will be good to start testing again.

I just want to say thank you to everyone again for your patience.

Looking forward to the next round of testing, where hopefully do some big volume testing Smiley"
