A few observations I had while implementing this:

By default they want you to essentially pay to IP addresses. This was stupid when Satoshi tried it 10 years ago, and it's stupid now. At the very least you should strongly encourage (ie. nearly force) people to give out public keys along with their IPs, since otherwise MITM attacks are trivial. Even then it sucks to require the recipient to run an open-to-the-Internet server at all. And for goodness' sake, don't use the broken/centralized HTTPS system; the Bitcoin Core devs have been going to a lot of trouble trying to remove that garbage from Core.

A better protocol for the copy/paste method is needed. For one, you shouldn't have to use intermediary files. I was annoyed when I did grin wallet send -m file -d - and it actually created a file called "-" instead of writing to stdout like it should.

grin needs to be much better at handling transactions that never continue beyond the first or second step in the three-way transaction process. They probably shouldn't even show up in the main transaction log.

Currently I think that there's no way for the recipient to get the modified slate after running receive the first time (eg. if it gets lost), which is nuts. And currently there appears to be no reasonable method for proving that you sent a transaction.

The community is working pretty hard on addressing these. Right now, it's all about getting the infrastructure going, and then hopefully soon we'll get a better user experience around it. Just a matter of time (and of course, everyone can help and speed things up).
2  Economy / Services / Coinpricetrend - Daily trend indicators for 2000+ cryptocurrencies on: January 16, 2019, 08:52:13 AM
Hi there. I just launched https://www.coinpricetrend.com, it's a pretty simple service that can help identify price trends for trading. It looks similar to sites like CoinMarketCap, but shows mathematically calculated indicators, like when a Golden Cross occurs, the current price relative to the 52-week price range, RSI, and more. This should help narrow down on potentially interesting trade setups much faster than individually analyzing price graphs. For example, a coin that is at the bottom of its 52-week price range and just had a Golden Cross or broke above its 200-day EMA, might be interesting to analyze further, and you can see those things very quickly on the site (Of course, it's always up to the user to then do more research and make good trading decisions).

I built this for myself and shared it with a few interested friends, which then led me to turn it into a proper service. I'd like to hear if you find the site useful, any improvements you can think of, and bugs you stumble across.

Thanks in advance.

Same observations and opinion on the site but its not really bad either but its too way simple and I don't really like too much the size either on the chart or on the size of the Text showing up the price.I do still appreciate the effort made by Op but there still lots of time to develop and make some changes to the site which would possibly make some popularity later on.  Goodluck

Thanks for the feedback. Can you please explain your comment about the site being simple? Is there specific information or a feature you would like to see?

Call me old-fashioned, but I liek it much better when there's a clear graph with everything on the X and Y axis defined.
I also just don't like the design of the graph you currently have, way too simplistic and bombastic for me.

Also, the design of all of the information under the graph is a bit too underwhelming, everything is just plain black, the text/title size and spacing seems a bit off to me.

It's a good start, but you really need to upgrade the overall look and feel.

I think you nailed my most difficult challenge - finding the right amount of visual playfulness. The two areas are on the extremes sides of this right now. Thanks for your helpful feedback, definitely something I will keep working on (this is the fun part for me).

It's very cool, overall the site looks pretty clean and contains all the information I need. I like having the ability to sign up and create my own personalized watchlist, gives another layer of engagement in a way (I'm not sure if this is a new concept or if competitors do this aswell). The only thing I don't really like is the big graph on the homepage. It's a little bit too big and the graph itself combined with a poorly chosen gradient look a bit off. But overall good stuff!

Thanks for the kind words. I do agree that the graph is a bit over the top when you use the site on a desktop or laptop. I was initially just planning to use it as a big dashboard to set up on a TV, in which case this works well. I'll have to see if I can find a middle ground, or just have it smaller by default and then have a "Big screen mode".

IMO it would be better to put the Global market cap and trading volume above or below the watch list pane. News and Ticker Pane should be in the same size, just add a scroll bar to the News list so that the list won't be long. The numbers are on the right side of the currency, won't bother others, I just prefer to see it on the left to avoid confusion in the first look.

Thanks for your input. How do you use the global market cap and trading volume? I would imagine they help you get an idea of how much activity there is in the market, is that right?

I think the numbers on the right vs. left side of the currency is a difference in style in the US vs. Europe. I'll have to see if I can automatically show that based on your timezone maybe...

your web site looking good but domain name is not a good select. it sounds like a garbage site. i really like your visualization of showing prices of coins.

Haha, thanks for the honesty, I do appreciate it. Few others said the same, so looks like I'll have to come up with something new.

The idea sounds good, I think that some more sites like this are indeed needed.
I don't like the domain name, imho sounds newbish. Even Coin5n or similar would be better. But this is me.
The news area was attempted here and there, but either abandoned, either not enough relevant news where I've checked. Something that I'd like to see would be RSS feed with the news. That would be something I'd surely use, but I don't know what would be your site's benefit. Maybe adding the tickers too to the RSS feed too?
However, it looks like a good project. Keep it up, good luck!

Thank your for that. Sounds like lots of people here dislike the domain name, I'll have to see if I can come up with something better.

News is definitely very tricky. As you also experienced, I was also a bit surprised how few good sources there are for crypto news. One idea could be to include the blogs of various projects, but then it might be too technical for the general audience. Alternatively, people could submit links they like, but there's no community yet to do that, and Reddit already does that well. I've also briefly looked into something like IBM Watson Discovery News (https://console.bluemix.net/docs/services/discovery/watson-discovery-news.html#watson-discovery-news), which aggregates hundreds of thousands of news articles every day and organizes them by topic. We'll see, sometimes it takes a few experiments to find something that works. I'll definitely set up the RSS feed, thanks for the tip.
9  Bitcoin / Project Development / Coinnnnn.com - Feedback please on: November 02, 2017, 04:36:18 PM
Hello. I would like to get your thoughts on http://www.coinnnnn.com, a side project I recently started. It is a watch list and price ticker for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. There are many similar sites, but I want to create something that is more playful and visual than what I’ve seen. I only started learning about Bitcoin 2 months ago and was super impressed with the community, both in what it has achieved and also the overall community feeling. So I hope my project contributes something useful as well. Showing is easier than telling, so here are a few screenshots for both desktop and mobile to show some of the pages and features:

So what you can do right now is catch up with prices (top 50 currencies only) and news. If you create an account (currently only via Google), you can pick the currencies you have and see all their price changes in one screen. I still think a lot of things are pretty rough and need more work. I'd like to especially focus more on making things easier to understand for people who are new to this topic, visualizing the data in interesting ways, and adding a few more community features (event, reviews, etc). But that's enough from me, now I'd be great to hear from you. Thanks in advance. Here's the link one more time: http://www.coinnnnn.com
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what is bubble? on: October 26, 2017, 04:14:18 AM
It's called a bubble when something is hugely overvalued. Usually this happens when lots of people are so excited about something that they put a lot more money into it than it is really worth. At some point, the market realizes that the actual worth of this thing is really a lot lower and people start selling it off. That's when the bubble pops. The financial crises of 2008 was also a bubble, caused by too many people buying into real estate (facilitated by shady practices of banks). Some people say Bitcoin is in a bubble because the excitement over it is huge and a lot of money is flowing into it. Hope that helps.

I recommend adding some more information (e.g. a teaser, whether it's for fun, commercial or open-source, etc) about your project. I think you'll get more replies that way.
