I'm not a fan of forks, but airdrops are cool. Looking forward to seeing Bitcoin Rhodium on exchanges.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Did I lose my Bitcoin? on: March 03, 2018, 05:18:27 PM
I stored 0.3 BTC on a Ledger Nano S (SegWit address). Then Zclassic said they would fork BTC (non-Segwit addresses) and ZCL into BTCP, and I created a non-SegWit address on my Ledger and sent the money to this address. I can see that the transaction has been verified on Blockchain.info, but the balance is not visible in the account on my Ledger interface. I am able to sign a message and prove that I own the address, but neither the address nor the balance shows up on the main interface.

Is this a bug, or have I lost my funds?

Bitcoin Rhodium (BTR) airdrop in January.

Get 10 BTR for each BTC you have. There will only be 2.1 million BTR, whereof 840 000 will be airdropped, so don't wait until the last minute.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zclassic, Zcash Fork No Premine, No 20% Founders Tax on: January 01, 2018, 10:05:22 PM
The price now again started to increase with a fastest speed. I know it will increase much more as right now not much people know that they will also get bitcoin private for zclassic. If they will know then they will also start to buy. I think you have to advertise this news so that more people also get benefit as with one bitcoin they will only get one coin while if they will buy zclassic then they will get much more.

Is there a snapshot date yet?

If the fork happens I think it should be worth at least as much as Bitcoin Gold, my estimate would be 300-500. But is there also a chance that the fork won't happen and that it's an exit scam? I want to buy, but can we know that the people behind are reliable?

$ZCL going 10 x in a few weeks?

Could be..

I understood that the founders of Zclassic (Rhett and Joshua) are teaming up and are planning a Bitcoin hardfork with zk-SNARK tech by dec 25th. The hard fork will be called ''Bitcoin Private - (BTCP)''. I am following the Zclassic telegram and according to the discussion there, the hard fork will produce a coin with elements of bitcoin gold/cash and Zcash/classic combined (correct me if I am wrong). If this is really the case this hard fork can be super HUGE!!

This is definitely very interesting and possibly a brilliant move. Privacy coins actually have a use case (as opposed to the thousands of shitcoins on the market), so I wouldn't be surprised if Bitcoin Private gets a higher market cap than Bitcoin Gold (which most people think is a joke) over the next couple of months. Maybe it can even compete with Monero and Dash?
6  Bitcoin / Legal / Countries with best BTC taxes & regulations for individuals (not companies) on: November 07, 2017, 11:51:35 AM
With ever increasing BTC prices, where can BTC holders move to minimize taxes? I'm confused by many of the tax laws that I'm reading about. It seems like clear rules have yet to emerge in many countries. Some countries have a wealth tax, which means that you must sell a certain amount of your BTC every year, which is regrettable. I think one should try to avoid these countries at least. But other than that, it is only the capital gains tax that is relevant?

Hi all,

With ever increasing BTC prices, where can BTC holders move to minimize taxes? I'm confused by many of the tax laws that I'm reading about. It seems like clear rules have yet to emerge in many countries. Some countries have a wealth tax, which means that you must sell a certain amount of your BTC every year, which is regrettable. Edit: Maybe this thread suits better in the Bitcoin Discussion section?

Problem is, you never now what governments decide to do there, on a short notice or no notice at all.
9  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Money can buy happiness? on: October 25, 2017, 09:30:50 PM
not at all. Happiness does not depend on money. It is more like a psychological thing which is more connected to the human minds. Don't you think so?

Money can't buy happiness if you don't have the prerequisites for being happy (honesty, integrity, etc.), but it is a tool that virtuous people can use to become even happier.

I'm currenty living in Norway. Here we have to pay 24 percent taxes on cryptocurrency profits, and in addition ca 1 percent each year in wealth taxes (i.e., if you own 50 BTC you have to sell 0.5 BTC each year to pay the wealth tax). Because of the tax burden I'm seriously considering moving to another country. Any suggestions?

I also looked into this since I have a lot of BTC to convert to fiat.

This is the shit list. I wouldn't live in any of these countries. Either they are 3rd world or their laws are too strict. They all seem to have problems...

Algeria
UAE
Bahrain
Jordan
Israel
Iran
Egypt
Saudi Arabia

Then I found out that the Caymen Islands also has zero percent tax on capital gains. I'm considering moving there into a nice beach house.

All these countries have zero taxes on Bitcoin profits? If I had to pick one of these, it would have to be Israel. But I'd much prefer living in a non-shithole country with moderate taxes (maximum 20% capital gains and no wealth tax).

(I don't think Israel is a shithole, but all of their neighbours are)

Cayman is very isolated and very expensive. Especially if you want to go back and visit your family and friends now and then.

Do you believe all Muslims are bad? How do they differ from the terrorists?

All islamic terrorists are muslims, but not all muslims are terrorists. So no, not all muslims are bad.

I don't mind paying a small amount in capital gains taxes when I cash out, it's the wealth tax that is really annoying. 1 percent may sound little, but it adds up. After 25 years one quarter of your BTC will be taxed away even if you just hodl.

I'm very curious how did you report income from bitcoin?
For example, in my country, I couldn't report income from cryptocurrency, only ''second income'' from abroad since cryptocurrency or internet income is not recognized by tax office Smiley
I had to pay 25 % tax on my income but couldn't report it as internet income plus I had to pay some additional contributions.

We just write down our profits in the tax return under a post called "Other taxable income".
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Countries with low taxes on Bitcoin profits on: October 25, 2017, 07:34:31 PM
I think the wealth tax is worse than the capital gains tax. I could live with 16-24% capital gains as long as I don't have to pay taxes for hodling my own coins.
