1  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 on: August 22, 2013, 09:58:28 PM
Unfortunately it has already been removed from the system and is packaged for shipping.  I assume the card must be installed to determine the firmware version, but if it helps, just above the PCIe connector the model number is printed as "GV-R795WF3-3GD REV2.0".  Does this help?

Edit: After some searching, I think you might actually be asking about the hardware version, which is indeed 2.0, rather than the firmware version.  Correct me if I'm wrong.  As I understand it, some of the earlier versions of this card were voltage unlocked, but this one appears to be one of the voltage locked versions.

I mined with this card for about three months in a cool room.  Conservatively used, kept temperature at or below 70 C.  I easily got 625 Mh/s using the following cgminer flags:

Code:
--auto-gpu --auto-fan --temp-target 70 --gpu-fan 40-90 --gpu-engine 600-1100 --gpu-memdiff -150 -I 9

Includes the following accessories:
  • 6-pin PCI Express power adapter.
  • 8-pin PCI Express power adapter.
  • AMD Crossfire cable.
  • Mini-Displayport to Displayport adapter.

Selling on eBay, 30 minutes left, will ship quickly tomorrow!

Purchased new on June 6, 2013.  I'm now using an AX-850 instead, which is plenty sufficient for my needs.  I ran it with 3x7950's for a little over two months, so it was never over taxed.  7 year warranty from Corsair!

Many thanks for this very useful guide!  I wouldn't have attempted it otherwise, but I ended up with two working (1x to 16x) cables on the first try.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dual Sapphire 6970 config setup for cgminer on: June 09, 2013, 09:26:36 PM
Do I have to add an argument in the config file specifying I am using 2 GPUs?

--gpu 0,1 ??

Not unless you want to use different settings for each card.  cgminer will use the same settings for all cards unless you separate the options with commas, in which case it will interpret them as per-card settings.

Do you have sufficient power for both cards?  You could also test the new card by itself to rule out a problem with the card itself.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: PCI Express X1 to x16 risers - powered or not on: June 08, 2013, 06:08:38 AM
Is it feasible to take a non powered cable and solder on a molex line with a 12V connection? ...

Has anyone tried this? How did it work out?

I made two powered cables following this guide and they work perfectly:

9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Debian - what do i need for cgminer? on: June 08, 2013, 01:46:27 AM
I'm using nodm with automatic login and an .xinitrc file which just runs cgminer inside a screen session.  I'm not running a window manager at all.  To set up automatic login with nodm, see /etc/default/nodm.  My .xinitrc looks something like this:

Code:
#!/bin/bash
$HOME/bin/screen-cgm.sh &
exec xterm

The exec xterm is just there to keep the X session running.  The script screen-cgm.sh starts a (detached) screen session running cgminer.
