1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 on: November 09, 2017, 12:44:30 PM
thx claymore 390x made 1200 h/s

Those things need a nuclear power plant to run.

Notabatman, i follow up your posts and i like how you think. i tried GG and Sgminer because of you (however wasn't in this forum) Now, i mostly have some Hawaii GPUs of which two i destroyed, but anyway, i have been obsessed with the fact that these are really power houses because of thier massive memory bandwidth. yet with LOADS of intensity/work size tweaks i can never get more than 860 h/s with those on 1040 mhz Undervolted.
I have a 290x with Stilt's this thing is really optimum, in GPU-Z consuming ~90 watts (probably 110 w in reality) but anyway, with Cryptonight, consumption is way less so i do raise the core clock but still.
What do you reckon a good build is?

I have some questions for Pros and i do hexedit a lot but i'm really clueless on what to do on Hawaii Elpida BBBG (i overclock the stilt one) and on 390 Nitro i leave it to stock 1500 (Hynix AJR) but i would really be happy if i can get on hold of a build (timings/thread/intensity)
thanks in advance.
BTW 10.2 works for me now, glitchy with my 270x 4gb (which is massive performer for its price and age) 390s,blockchain, Nicehash xmr gives me steady 840 h/s+

I haven't bothered to mod any of my old HD or R9 cards, it's too much trouble to mess with old cards. Get some RX570/580s you'll find they run relatively trouble free, are easy to mod and cheap to buy. This miner is also beta so I wouldn't be too hard on claymore regarding bugs and problematic default settings on old cards.

Clay should probably remove the dev fee until a polished version is available IMO.
I second that Devfee comment
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Samsung galaxy s5 mining bitcoin? on: November 09, 2017, 12:13:41 PM
I just saw this on a blog. Indian based blog. How possible really is mining bitcoin through your mobile phone(samsung galaxy s5 to be specific).

From what i saw. It seems that the samsung company set the phones like those hardware miners. Theyve also stated that a 7 samsung galaxy s5 can mine faster than the i7 core gpu. If this is really a success it could really be a big help for us. We can easily buy some of this 2ndhand samsung phones and can easily be in the business

They haven't stated what generation was the i7. If it's the first generation then yes, the 7 Samsung Galaxy S5 phones packed with Cortex A15 and Cortex-A7 is quite faster but not that much of a difference. It wouldn't be that much of a help for those wanting to mine with these phones. You will need to completely wipe the OS first on the phones and get their own software specifically for mining before you can even start. Not to mention that you need to spend at least $1050 to get those S5 secondhand without any assurance of it to work all throughout your mining session. An Antminer S9 is around $3000 today, so you just need to find $2000 to get yourself an ample hardware perfect for the job and not waste money on used hardware that doesn't have any guarantee that would last long.
In terms of durability. We know how good samsung phones are in that fields alone specially those old samsung phones(Most of those phone that are created by samsung 2 years 3 years or 4 years ago are still in good condition right now). So i could really say that its durability   equates the durability of your PC. In fact there is no need for you to spend $2000 just to have a 7 galaxy s5.

Galaxy S5 has a 4-core 2,5 GHz processor, i7 is powered by a 4-core 3,4GHz processor, more recent. So a single phone isn't more powerful as the I7. OP was mentioning 7 S5, combined with a good usage of the processors, it may be more powerful. But it's certainly not cheaper in energy.
You can mine with any phone that can be programmed to mine, but it's often not worth the energy spent.

If you are going to think the processor type being used in galaxy s5 a snapdragon is a way more energy efficient than the intel core i7
I agree, much more energy efficient! And why mine btc? the networks too big, mine some KRB sitting .49cents a piece!

Also, as android is linux, theres plenty of mining ports and software available for alot of alt coins, my friend dropped off about 7 ss the other day all with some sort of nuance (dead battery, broken screen etc etc). shouldve kept them hehe
3  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam alert : Do NOT INVEST in Genesis Mining on: November 09, 2017, 12:04:57 PM
Still. Genesis did not break there contract or did wierd calculations. I have 3 contracts now. First one was more then a year ago. Because of network increase BTC did recieve lower BTC payouts, but BTC price increase, did give me higher FIAT payout  Cool first it was a dollar per day, now 2 dollars of that same contract (life time).

I also joined presale BTC contract in september. Now i recieve the payouts as promised in november. Me so happy.

Txs Genesis.

Sorry for all ponzi trolls here from other cloudmining  Tongue

That's not too bad if you get a lifetime membership! It would be alright then...But now, their prices are riddiculous....i could build a miner for half of what they charge in alts.

How much were the original contracts?

You need indeed little insight about ROI. Alt coin contracts now are not the best (beside the first Dash and LTC contracts). But if i recalculate contract and fees, then its exactomento. BTC contract are the best i think. Last offer was better pricing then the old BTC contract i did, but also logic because hardware was cheaper to buy by Bitmain and they expanded facilities on iceland (cheap energy).

Not quite sure what you meant? Yes i need no info on ROI. i know how ROI and indeed, business in general works. And, in general, i can build an alt coin miner, for sub 500$. An antminer still costs less than $3k us with power for the year. will cost 2000usd for the same hashpower as a miner....not inclusive of fees of course...from genesis.Top that with the fact your stuck with the contract for two years... I know crypto, and i know business, i KNOW a good scam is 'renting hashpower' ala genesis. The only reason i see for cloud...is if you have spare xmr or zcash
or eth you want washed into btc. My miners run ala sun! close to free power....they at least pay for their panels...we should be upto 3.5kw in another year (assuming price doesn't rise...in which case yay!
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v10.2 on: November 09, 2017, 06:36:05 AM
Hi there cataloging experiences with Cryptonote Miner and HD 7850 & 7870 rig. I had a hell of a time troubleshooting etc.

Firstly rig specs
Core i7 875k @ 4.3mhz cpu
GA-P55A-UD5 mobo
8GB dr3 1833mhz @ cl8 or 1600mhzcl7 ram
1SSD + 5xHDD
3x HD7850 2gb 1x7870 2gb,
Hashrate =1900h/s-2100h/s GPU only.
Miner used - 9.7
PSU 600w Bronze for cpu and hdd and cooling fans. + 12v 18a 180w PSU for 2 7850 (from my idle 3d printer Wink
Windows 10

On stock settings.....cards quickly reach tdp limit. 69c will kill these cards, as apparent by the burning metal & epoxy smell. so really need to monitor temps.

Pros
Relatively easy and intuitive? Theres a large user base.

Issues,
sometimes command line options don't work. Sometimes, it's better to leave the rig in tune mode, as this stops freezing issues with displays.
DevFee causes big drop off from pools after the 1hr mark. I checked logs and the pool switching is the problem. If you turn off the display, the miner has a spaz and the pc freaks out causing low hash rate and expired shares. Logical differences and physical differences haven't been accounted for.. i.e reporting that the miner is going to use 2140mb of ram when physically, there is only 2048 addressable. Status displays only the first 2 miners, wheres stats for the others? GPU gives new name eveytime the system is rebooted, difficult when overclocking. Overclocking inside of the app caused bsods and crashing. Irrelevant feature. Remote management is good in theory, but should be turned off for security reasons. Also, disabling devfee did no appreciable decrease in hash, when active it produced 5 Dev Fee shares over 7 minutes....what's this shit? Screwing my shares expiring them and hashing your own pools? btw, as everyone said, don't try to connect to my pool and kick me out while you mine, of course the app will error out. Overclocking from catalyst, (Crimson is ruuuuubish) is now made more difficcult due to Claymores "Driver recomendations") If overclocking pump out the memory first, then when adding memory goes backwards, and some juice 1-2% when it evens out hash rate again, pump up the cooling, when its stable increase Core Processor clock, this allow more headroom to increase ram speeds some more. Also, when using older hardware(like my mobo) You need to add poweer to the units in ascending order (Furthest from cpu to closest) to smooth out ripple and prevent line level load drop (and also staggered hash counts)
Claymore 10.2 doesn't even run half descent. 323h/s as opposed to 440h/s? gummon maite (c'mon mate)

But, i am gratefull i can mine at full hash without your fee! i find it highly unreasonable how much you ask of people for your product...capitalism at it's worst...Anyone using these cards, nofee 1  is the way to go. otherwise mining wasted shares.

Also, low reported hash rates were due to windows system processes chewing up grunt for some wastey rubbish NSA spying...i mean windows updating *cough

i am a business owner, have been for the last 5 years. I had a few friends trying to convince me, respectable people, military personnel, nurses fellow business men all respectable....all getting duped into these silly ponzi scheme sites. I am of the opinion that most, if not all are merely scams, paying you with btc they receive from punters who've lucked out (via difficulty increases, contract price increases etc etc.)

Having looked at Genesis, seems to be a very nicely done investment "pretend" site. The fact that the Australians (who seem to love these types of marketing scams (you seen their "forex" cfd sites or Avon or even goddamn betting software?)) push it, tells me it's a scam...or t the very least a get rich quick scheme...Which, any real investor knows, that you have to play big (10k+) range, and that off of that 10g you will make (on a very very good year) 3g. And no its not sustainable...But any company worth it's salt knows the only real way, sustain-ably, in the world of crypto is to mine big, have an exchange, enforce usage of a token or new coin, collect negative returns( i.e be a negative geared company)in power or generate their own low cost power (Utilizing asset depreciation as another leverage point) pump and dump, then restructure....but THESE Mofo, they're big promises and big dreams. Here for the log run...big time scammers they would be in any other industry..

And half of the people here rallying to support the machines....are really just cogs in the system. It's naive to think that the systems immune response won't be initiated when you prod the bug....Good on ya OP, go hard!

If you had a botnet full of factory or seconded phones, with available power supply, they would do well. The samsung S4 19505, 2nd gen not the snapdragon octa, pulls 23-35h/s. if mining cryptonite..the phone uses about 2amps at 5v. nothing a battery and solar panel wouldn't fill....all for less than a monero cloud contract.....You think, if you were an e-recycle company, 50 bricked phones is nothing...
