2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Party's over. Go get a job, you lazy animals... on: April 15, 2018, 11:55:12 PM
Seriously ? , I mean you still think that people in this forum are stupid enough to quit their real jobs as you said and count on only this forum to get an income ? especially if they have a family to take care of ? a lot of people are working more than one job these days and this forum is really helping them to increase their financial situations, it is kinda a part time job but with a very flexible time, they can simply work by night and earn a few extra bucks.

4  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk in a mobile app. on: March 08, 2018, 10:31:29 PM
I was just thinking since most of the people nowadays are using smartphones in all sorts of activities and all sorts of apps are now being used in our daily routine such as for emails, social media and etc. Can we also develop a mobile app for bitcointalk in both platforms iOS and Android?  for a much better way of accessing this forum.

Please advise if there is already an app or a topic that has already been posted regarding this. I am new to bitcoin by the way.
not a bad idea since a lot of people nowadays are using bitcointalk daily and they need some app which easier to use better than the browsers but to make this idea real you have to get the access to the database of the forum means it is required to have the access to all personal information of every user in the forum such as passwords and emails, which impossible and the only person capable of this is Theymos.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if bitcoin crashes? on: March 05, 2018, 10:57:59 PM
What do you think would happen to the rest of the currencies if for some reason bitcoin were to crash and the price dropped to 0?
Bitcoin means cryptocurrency, if it wasn't for the famous and popular price jump that bitcoin made last year, the crypto market would not have reached the level that it is at right now, so in my opinion when and if bitcoin goes down for some reason the whole cryptocurrency will eventually go down with it, because most of the trades made in this market are all involved around bitcoin and the market will lose its profibality if such thing happens.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: encourage others to crypto on: March 05, 2018, 10:46:40 PM
For myself, I don't usually encourage or force anyone to invest in Cryptos.

I prefer to teach and advise people and they make their decisions on their own .
I agree with you, i wouldn't recommend anyone to invest in cryptos, it is better to work and earn them because it is risky and unsure way to count on them to gain money so better safe than sorry but a lot of people get quickly fascinated and they buy them often, i think they have to be smart when they invest in some cryptos, they should select carefully and be willing to lose.
7  Other / Meta / Re: Merits should be given for the lower ranks only. on: March 05, 2018, 08:50:29 PM
Sr. Member, Hero and Legendary do they need a merits? These rank should be exempted on merits systems instead they are the one who will judge the lower ranks by giving merits.

These could benefit the forum members as a whole;

1. Newbies that work as a spam will be controlled.
2. It will give an opportunity those newbies that really working hard to rank up in fair time.
(I saw a lot merits just given to the the higher ranks which a post is not really worthy of a merit. majority of the merits just dwell in their realm. Lower
    ranks just gets the crumbs)
3. Merits will be distributed fairly to the lower ranks because higher ranks will not think of their merits anymore.

'Hope this post can get crumbs.'
The merit system was brought to the forum to clean it up from spammers, only high qualified posts will be merited no matter what the rank is, still the high ranked people will be the first to judge the small ranks and give merits, but how exactly they judge posts ? on which scale they consider a post high qualified ?, what if you don't share them the same opinion and yet you are qualified, do you think they will still give you a merit ? or just impose their ideas and ignore you because you are a beginner, this is where the problem of the merit system lies, ranking up depends on what people think about you actually, it is a great move but not fair enough.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: What/who make the price of bitcoin on: March 05, 2018, 08:12:25 PM
Hello everybody, I am new to the bitcoin and bitcointalk forum. I just wonder what/who make the price of bitcoin, and what does it depend on?
The price of bitcoin depends on not only one factor but a lot, including the investments and the demand if it is a huge the price will go up, if there is less demand the price will go down. But the main factor in my opinion is the limited supply that has played a big part in it having such a high value, rare things have always a high price, gold is a great example.
9  Other / Meta / Re: Merit rewards for Signature Campaigns! on: March 05, 2018, 06:30:42 PM
I was wondering about the new system that has been implemented. We all know that it can be challenging to earn even a single merit, I mean not all the members of this forum are that familiar to what really is going on, especially to the new members.

So I will get to the point, so how about this, let's say we joined a Signature Campaign it lasts for four weeks. And every week you will be required a number of post, let's say 25 posts. So you've already met that requirement and has been confirmed by the Manager. We also know that the Manager reviews your posts if those are constructive, here's the thing why not reward Merits to those participants that have quality posts, by the Manager.

Then its not going be hard as before for the participants to earn Merits and eventually rank up.

Does this idea makes any sense? Let me know guys what are your opinion about this.

EDIT:
I have noticed that few people are saying that the CMs don't have enough sMerits or Merits to provide for all the participants but as the suggestion of:
In my suggestion, the managers can just pick one suitable member to be given a Merit. Giving all of them are really a huge problem since there are a lot of members in a Signature Campaign.

OR,
As many as the CMs wants.
That's not a bad idea at all especially for the beginners like Jr member to rank up and it's hard for them to get the chance to have merits or even to see if they are eligible to have some for their work, Indeed managers should behave like every user in the forum, give merits and recieve as well, but do you think that a manager of a campaign includes 100 members for example to check every post of every individual , with 25 post required every week, that means 2500 posts to verify ? besides do they actually have enough merits to be fair with everyone ?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any chance for USA to ban bitcoin? on: March 05, 2018, 06:06:07 PM
Every country are starting to ban. What if USA ban? how will it go?
we cannot easily expect that USA will ban completely bitcoin because it won't be hard to be done, but i think trying to regulate it maybe, governments everywhere, not only usa will try hard to regulate anything that they can get profits from, if any government will regulate bitcoin it will get taxes paid by everyone who own some or for every transaction made between two users, so why close a door that can bring a harvest someday, who knows.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin affects students' performance in school on: March 05, 2018, 05:46:02 PM
As far as I can observe being a teacher, I am definitely happy that my students are involve in cryptocurrencies and they earn for themselves and help their families. But, their school perfomance is getting worse. Please give your thoughts how will you help students to earn and at the same time it won't affect their school works?
I think everyone will get distracted as soon as they start to involve into bitcoin especially young people, first, being surprised and impressed by its power and how it can be very helpful to improve financial situations easily, second, getting attached to uncertain thing, that will make anyone stressed, baffled and unsure especially if it becomes a job and the only income, people will wake up stressed in the morning and first thing to do is to check the bitcoin price, students will be distracted in schools thinking if the price or the fees are going up or down, and that can really affect their lives in a negative way, so i suggest you make a small presentation to show the positive and the negative sides of bitcoin, you have to show them how bitcoin is risky and we cannot count 100% on it, schools and education come first and bitcoin is just some coin and they cannot gain knowlegde with money.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting in bitcoin is legal or illegal? on: March 05, 2018, 01:16:06 AM
I don't think it will illegal.
In the most of the countries, betting with bitcoin is not illegal, as there are a lot of gambling sites in the internet was created from many countries around the world, most of people gamble with bitcoin through internet and i guess even it is illegal they will use it in betting anyway.
I think there some restriction rules in gambling in some arabic countries like Saudia Arabia, I think it's forbidden due to their religion because gambling is a sin.
13  Other / Meta / Re: Is it too late for newbies to rank up on Bitcointalk? on: March 04, 2018, 10:33:46 PM
I just saw the Merit system and it is new to me and I read some post about the new merit system and I am asking if it is true that it is hard for a newbie to reach a higher rank because of the newly added system on this forum.
It is not about ranks, you can have a newbie level in this forum and yet you post useful informations, it's all about knowlegde it seems to be hard in the beginning i know, I myself still struggling to get merits to rank up, but no worries, if you learn enough about cryptocurrencies and build a good knowlegde about this field, you can share constructive posts and get to earn some merits, posts must be high qualified and have a great contents.
14  Other / Meta / Re: 17 Merits to give to Quality Posters on: March 04, 2018, 09:43:42 PM
First of all, thanks to actmyname that inspired me making this thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3046992.0

I have sitting merits on my account for months now I'm not active enough to give my merits to good posters so I decided to make this thread to make things easier.
If you judge yourself a good poster please post below this thread,I will review your posts and decide if you deserve getting merits or not

There will be 2 winners, The first will get 12 merits second will get 5 merits.

Good luck!
This is a great move to be fair enough with everyone, a lot of small ranked people been working so hard and trying to improve their posts quality but they get a low chance to be seen and merited for their work, I'm glad you can review posts and give merits so i would like to try and give it a shot to see if i'm eligible to get merits , please feel free to check my posts.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction fee!!?? on: March 04, 2018, 09:25:49 PM
I just saw that the transaction fee for bitcoin is really dropped when compared with the earlier few months.
I just wanted to know what affects the bitcoin transaction fee, what makes the fee high or low? Does the demand increase the fee too or when bitcoins price is volatile and keeps increasing or decreasing real fast, does that affect the transaction fee? Does the amount being sent decide the fee?
If not then please state the factors affecting transaction fee!
The fees depend on the number of transactions being processed at the same time, if the network is crowded and a lot of transactions are invalid like what happened in the ealier few months, with over 150k unconfirmed transactions people started to pay offers to get their transactions confirmed and the one who pays more will be prefered and have the confirmation in less time, that's what mainly caused the increasement of the fees.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New to Crypto, Any Advice? on: March 04, 2018, 08:21:14 PM
Hello, Im new to the Crypto world and wanted to hear some advice from the pro's on where to start. i havnt purchased any coins yet, but i have been using coinpot and various faucets. I was wondering if i should keep going with this or is it a waste of my time. Also they say theres no fee for converting coins, but i dont get the same conversion rate as i do on the coinmarketcap calculator. Basically id like to hear from the professionals maybe a strategy for really small trades, or that this is a waste of time and buy some coins with my hard earned money and go from there lol. and if thats the case, where to go. im in Canada by the way, if that helps.

Thanks for any help you can offer me. I hope to get more active in the forums and meet great/smart people along the way Smiley

                                                                                                                            Matt
Faucets are not profitable at all and they are just a waste of time, they give a small amount of money comparing to what they earn from you opening their sites, the best ways to earn cryptos especially bitcoin is to simple use your skills if you have ones such as designing or writing to get hired and paid with bitcoin, or buy and hold which i don't recommend it because it is a way risky, otherwise you can work in signature campaign then you will be able to gain bitcoin and knowledge as well.
18  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the most influential factor that triggers bitcoin prices to fall down? on: March 03, 2018, 09:06:53 PM
Bitcoin is very volatile. It goes up and down at no time. But I started to think what causes its values to go down. These past few days, its prices are notably lower that last year's values. Last year, I believe, during the first few months, its prices are likewise low. Do bitcoin prices go down every January to February? Does it have a logical association?
As you said bitcoin is unsteady we cannot easily expect if its price is going up or down, but we kinda know the factors why its value dcreased the last few months, mostly it's because of the fees, a lot of people stopped the exchange between them because it is obviously illogical to pay 40 dollars fee for a 5 dollars transaction, however the governments have been lately trying to regulate and ban bitcoin due to its high price because a lot of people making in it an income of millions of dollars without even paying taxes.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In Germany, bitcoin was recognized as legal tender on: March 03, 2018, 08:24:32 PM

51
The Federal Ministry of Finance of Germany stated that purchases for bitcoins will not be taxed, since the crypto currency is a legitimate means of payment.

The Office published its decision on February 27. In the document, the regulator refers to the European Court's ruling of 2015, which sets a precedent for all EU member states.

The court ruling says that crypto-currencies are considered a legitimate means of payment and that therefore the transactions for the payment of goods and services with their help should not be taxed:

"So-called virtual currencies (crypto-currencies such as bitcoin) are considered equal to legal means of payment if these so-called virtual currencies have been accepted as alternative and contractual means of payment by the parties involved in the transaction and have no other purpose than to use as a method payment ».

Conversion of crypto-currencies to fiat and vice versa in the decision of the European Court is classified as "other taxable services". Thus, the party that acts as an intermediary in this exchange will not be taxed. It follows that the operators of crypto-exchange exchanges can receive exemption from taxes "if they complete the purchase and sale of bitcoin as an intermediary on their behalf".

Commissions to miners should also not be taxed, since they are paid on a voluntary basis.

We note that earlier this year the head of the Bundesbank Joachim Wuermeling (Joachim Wuermeling) said that the regulation of crypto-currency should be carried out on a global scale. And the head of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, believes that the ECB does not have such authority at all.

Currently, the European Commission is preparing an action plan to prevent financial crimes using crypto currency.

Wonderful news, Germany actually took a great step in the cryptocurrency world by making a bitcoin a legit payment method, this achievement should be spread worldwide because bitcoin is becoming very famous and people are getting to know it, millions are using bitcoin nowadays as income, they work and get paid with bitcoin and they even take of families and cover almost of their bills with it, besides everything is becoming digital including method payment so let it be secure and use bitcoin.
20  Other / Meta / Re: Serbian local board application on: March 03, 2018, 07:51:05 PM
Due to increased Bitcoin popularity, we have a huge amount of members joining our forums, including on our Serbian topic as well.
With a huge number of members joining every day, our local topic is getting bigger and bigger each day. With a lot of active and new members, it is getting hard to follow all the topics that are currently being discussed there.

From new people asking general noob questions, up to the dumb and healthy discussions, everything is under one topic, and it is becoming impossible to follow all questions/answers and follow what is going on.

To my understanding, all the sections on bitcointalk are moderated, if someone posts something that is off topic, the post will surely get deleted, so if the Serbian local section is getting spammed by new users who are posting things that are non topic related then the mods should be deleting them.
