So I discovered the hidden -dedication parameter, and encoded a short message into block 86043 which I mined. I've verified the message is in the blockchain by grepping through the primecoin blockchain files on a few other machines. Is there any proper way to view these messages (such as to check for more in other blocks)? Or do I need to build my own blockchain parser for this?
(EDIT: I tried the linux strings utility. I only see the original block's message, and my own's message. Guess no one else has done this.)
(EDIT2: I tried the strings utility on Bitcoin's blockchain. Doesn't look like stuffing information into a blockchain is that unique of a prank, drat.)
Hahaha this is great, there's a couple there now, maybe a couple people picked up on your advice: Sunny King - dedicated to Satoshi Nakamoto and all who have fought for the freedom of mankind Mined by XertroV the dopefish lives SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE

I actually like the User Interface of BitFunder a lot more than BTCT, and the BitFunder name is easy to remember. The margin-left: -30px on the .row class annoys me the most, everything on the page below the header is shifted left - does nobody else see this? (Firefox/Aurora on OSX) The WeExchange requirement was just another hurdle for me. I opened BitFunder and BTCT at the same time, with the sole intention of getting some ASICMINER-PT - you wanted me to go sign up to another website just to get some money in, BTCT didn't, so I went with the one that gave me less work.

If you would want someone or some company to buy out MTGOX, which one would you choose? as an ideal candidate? In the Age of corporate buyouts and takeovers, you would think that someone would have bought out MTGOX already! The company's incompetence is staggering, with blunder after corporate blunder. I could not even make it all the way through the ridiculous press release here: https://www.facebook.com/MtGox/posts/484532824964463All they offer is excuse after excuse... Overload of your IT infrastructure and poor banking logistics is no excuse. It just means a lack of vision on your part. Anyone with half a brain could have seen where crypto was going. I have seen less complex deals take place on wall street in a shorter amount of time than that which you have had to fix all of these problems. I have also seen way more complex infrastructure implementation/provisioning in shorter amount of time. As for MTGOX; I beg with all my heart for someone on Wall Street to please BUY OUT THIS COMPANY!

So what is the conclusion of the story? The Doc is cool? and hands out prescriptions without hesitation? I went to Doctor Louis B. Kasunic in Castle Rock today because I have been throwing up for the past few months. When I got to the office all of the nurses treated me well. I even misplaced my phone, and all of the nurses helped me look for it and even learned my name, and were pleasantly asking "Did you find your phone yet?". Eventually one of the nurses found it so they brought it to me, and gave it to me.
I sat in the Doctors office for a short period and while I was waiting I moved his skeleton into a captain Morgan stance, using a radio in the room to prop up the leg, and propping one of the hands on the hip bone. The doctor entered and we started talking. He told me that he read I had been throwing up and asked how often. He put an emphasis on "when" the vomiting started. I told him it had been a long time, and there was no way I could really pin point a time. But he insisted that I gave him a specific time, but I told him I couldn't. He was almost angry with me for not picking a specific time and kept pushing sentences like "It was around the beginning of the year, correct?", even after I repeatedly told him there was no way I could know.
He asked if I had heart burn, and I told him I wasn't sure what that was, and he explained it. I had experienced it before, so I told him "yes". He started listing things that I would need to stop drinking like orange juice, soda, etc. And told me that he was going to write a prescription for oxycontin for pain. I told him I did not want a prescription, because I already had a prescription for marijuana because of hip pain I have been experiencing since I was a child. He seemed to get angered when I mentioned that, and it almost felt like he was trying to persuade me to choose oxycontin. He asked in an angry tone "Who prescribed you that?" and I can't remember my Doctors name, so I gave him the name of the place my doctor works. He told me that he had experience with a patient that had been hospitalized due to the vomiting brought on by marijuana smoking, and assured me that oxycontin was a much safer alternative. I told him that cannabis is actually known as an anti-nausea medication, then he literally put his hand in my face and said loudly "You don't tell me", as if to say "I'm the doctor here, you shut your fucking mouth". I replied saying calmly "You can't talk to me like that". And he yelled "We're done here." and opened the door and pointed for me to leave. Then called the police without telling me, and the nurses were nice enough to inform us of that (because they were polite the whole time), so we left.
I did not bring up the topic of marijuana, and it was in no way my goal to persuade him that marijuana was a better medication than anything else. He decided to ask me if I smoked cigarettes, knowing damn well that the chart in his hand said no I don't smoke cigarettes, but I smoke weed. He wanted to pick this fight. And I want to warn the world about his malpractice.
Physicians are not gods, their jobs are to speak with you to find out what is wrong, then work with you to decide how to fix it. I didn't even want to talk about Cannabis or any form of prescription with this Doctor and he not only refused me treatment, but treated me like less than a human being. I would expect someone with a doctors education to be able to handle small talk and discussion, but apparently not.
But I'm sure you can go there with a opiate addiction and some good insurance, and he'd treat you much better than he treated me.
I do not want anyone to do anything bad to this man, he probably makes life bad enough for himself, or else he wouldn't have to put his hands in his patients faces like an angry teenage girl.
But if you would like to leave a simple prank phone call, or send a fax, send me a PM and I will give you his information. I really want to waste a lot of this guys time over the next few months, unless he wants to apologize, or give me back my co-pay (that's not the whole point, it's just the principle of the matter. He owes me reparations of some kind after treating me that way).
The information I think I am allowed to give on Bitcointalk is this (please tell me if I am allowed to add phone number and address)
Dr. Louis B. Kasunic: Board Certified Family Physician (Not for long) Castle Rock, Colorado Castle Rock Family Physicians
If you are ever bored one day, look them up and send a fax, or set up an appointment, or just ask if his refrigerator is running. And I'm not positive, but from what I could tell he seemed like the kind of Doctor that hands out prescriptions like candy. That's not my cup of tea, so I'm not going to try to find out if he is. But if he wasn't coming down on some kind of drug, then I don't know what was making him treat me that way.

I have researched bitcoinstarter, they seem to have added pretty good value to crowdfunding for the bitcoin industry. I hope it works out for them as I don't see many projects going up. The Trouble With Kickstarterhttp://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324021104578551313657138252.htmlI thought this was an interesting read. Seems many are being frequently bugged by friends and relatives to help fund their Kickstarter projects and they're getting tired of it. For aspiring artists, crowdfunding sites that raise cash from the masses can make a dream project come true. For contributors like Annabelle Gurwitch, they're a potential minefield.
The Los Angeles actress and comedian is worried she'll create personal or professional bad blood if she ignores the constant requests for money. So she funds nearly every one she gets—from a show by a director friend (she might want a role one day) to a web series by a fellow actress (they shared a dressing room at the time). An old classmate she hadn't seen in 30 years asked her for "quite a bit of money" while another campaigner complained that she didn't offer enough. Ms. Gurwitch, who gives up to $1,000 a year, considers this the art-world equivalent of paying protection money to the mob. "I'm terrified not to contribute," she says. At least with BitcoinStarter contributions are anonymous. I imagine one day instead of saying "I gave at the office" we'll be saying "I've already contributed with bitcoins."

Interesting.. will try this later on. You got a great thread started here. ~ For information about the Daily Newbie Lotto see here. From the New to BitCoin? Start here! sticky in the Bitcoin Forum > Bitcoin > Bitcoin Discussion forum: Where do I get free bitcoins? Discussion thread hereIf you have a site that gives out free bitcoins, or know of one, then please submit a link to it in that thread, or this one if you are still on newbie restrictions. Any input is welcome including a quick "thanks" or "hello". Thanks And I suppose I can just list them here below as well: Be sure to bookmark this page so you don't miss anything new.Beware of sites/threads which just copy the entries from this official thread and hides the links behind url redirectors, making them untrustworthy or a spam-filled inconvenience at best. Also beware of faucet rotator-timer things that claim to make it easy for you to submit your address to each site at the proper times, especially ones you have to download to your own computer. It is hard to know what is going on behind the curtain. Also even some of the sites listed here will have their own list of free Bitcoin sites but hide them behind coinurl and/or adfly links, and other dubious and spammy things like that. For your convenience and safety it best to just use their faucet, and avoid the other links there, and then come back to use the verified and maintained list of links here. If you find this list has been helpful to you in getting your first BTC and you appreciate the time put in to verify these sites, and to compile and maintain this list, please consider a small donation: 1A2tWrHSnc4eoRJCgcDx8BwPAATmtxMTye You can use this address in one of your daily checks of these sites for example, or a test of sending BTC after you have used these sites to test the receiving of BTC. Thank you. Note: Many of these sites only payout once a day, or even less often, to save on transaction fees, so don't get too worried if you don't see a payment for several hours. If after more than a day or two you still don't get anything, or you have any other problems, post in this thread. Some of the operators of these various sites follow this thread. What is this? It would be great if we could provide each other with watch scripts that can be used to modify mining intensity in response to popular programs. For instance, if you are a madVR user: <watch condition="RunningApplication" action="Stop"> <conditionParams> <process>madHcCtrl</process> </conditionParams> </watch>
or a bf3/origin game player: <watch condition="RunningApplication" action="Stop"> <conditionParams> <process>GameOverlayUI</process> </conditionParams> </watch>
In essence, what processes correspond with common programs that require modifying mining intensity?

BitInstant has been fair in solving issues. I would be more patient with them to get your issue resolved.
You'll be more than happy once you get this working.
+1 for Bitinstant.

Thanks for that info. I do like the trust system. +1 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.0I would suggest reading up on the trust system. The above link goes to the announcement topic from the Meta section. I'm going to leave this thread unlocked for newbies to ask questions and help each other understand. Useless replies and off-topic remarks will be deleted. Edit - This is a useless reply: +1 for trust

Also, you should always use escrow if you don't know who you are doing business with.
John K's service is recommended. +1 to b!z for the idea.

Alt coins are mostly useless. That is why they are not listed there.
There are exceptions... but only a few such as LTC. Please let me know what definitive advantage LTC has over BTC, apart the fact that it was quite good to everybody that has speculated with it so far. The confirmations are faster. +1 to Teka.

Where did you download bitcoin-qt from? I hope it was from this forum. I installed Bitcoin-Qt on my iMac, put some bitcoins in it, and locked the wallet. When I wanted to make a new address to send some bitcoins to an exchange, it asked me to unlock my wallet. I entered the key, and the wallet application locked up. I had to kill the task. When I started it up, it said my wallet was corrupted. I restored my wallet from a backup, and discovered that all of my bitcoins (over 3 coins ) had been transferred. They had been transferred to an address I've never used before. In fact, I've never transferred any bitcoins out of my wallet. Well, the fact that I lost over $USD300 in coins is bad, but I'll chalk that up to experience. What I'd like to know is how it was done. I can only guess that my computer has been infected with malware that was waiting for me to unlock my wallet so it could do a transfer. Is this a known hack? Thanks, Random8, bitcoin n00b
