I know, at first I assumed as a musician he'd be fine but listening to the news story on the radio it didnt seem that this guy is a highly successful person that we often attribute with anyone doing things in public and at the end of the day is trying to make a living through his chosen medium.

We cant help everyone and I'll often walk past various charities without giving but I do try to help the little guys when I can, this is just one of those times.  The guy is making an effort in life and through a random act of violence may have his opportunity taken away from him.  Personally I'm only in the position to give two litecoins worth but I feel like I can contribute to his surgery so thats the point.  If today is not one of the few days of the year where you help someone just because you see that they need it then thats fine, but it is that day for me so I'm just trying to help this guy along.  Help if you can.

As I was leaving work earlier I heard a news bit on a local radio station that took my interest.  Seems this guy was the victim of a random attack and needs some surgery on his hand to keep making his living as a musician.

News story here http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/musicnews/s3937995.htm and funding page here http://www.gofundme.com/6nhi8w

I sent a message to the guy who's running the funding page because I'd like to send some money but can only do it in bitcoin/litecoin.  No idea if he's even heard of this sort of thing so wondering if anyone knows how to setup a trusted bitcoin address in case any of you are able to chip in a few dollars to help reach the target they've set.  I'd be happy to generate a new address in my wallet and then change to cash for him through my coinjar account but figured it isnt gonna be too successful as I'm not a trusted member of this board.  Any suggestions welcome, seems the guy has a day left before the surgery isnt as effective and they're quite a bit off the target.

Edit - I've just made a new address in the mean time if anyone wants to chip in for this guys recovery and no one has a trusted address solution (sounds funny because I say trust me though I know you have no reason to, am just doing this as a general good deed though) then please donate to MOD NOTE: ADDRESS REMOVED and I'll convert to dollars and ensure they get to the funding page

Seem to have fixed the issue, posting this in case it can help someone else down the track.

Took a guess and placed a plug with some resistors into the main GPU to trick windows into thinking there was a monitor there.  I didnt think the system needed to be tricked with the main GPU but after I inserted it the system automatically rebooted and seemed to work fine from there.  So far so good.

Another quick update, looking at the settings in cgminer I can see the card is severley underclocked.  I cant seem to change them either it just stays at what it wants to stay at.

Cgminer settings are as follows, with Afterburner settings matching these for overclocking.  Why isnt cgminer using these settings and instead reverting to its own??

timeout /t 30

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

cgminer --scrypt -I 20,20 -g 1 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 21712

--gpu-engine 1050,1050 --gpu-memclock 1400,1400 --gpu-vddc 1.087

Just a quick update, I thought that perhaps it was underclocked through afterburner but its listing both GPU's as the same settings.  The weird thing is that I cant actually change settings on the individual cards through afterburner, whatever I change on one changes on the other as well so they both end up with the same settings.  Is it meant to work that way?

Hi guys.

I dont know if this is the right place for this as I'm mining litecoin using cgminer but overnight it seems like perhaps one of my cards got too hot and this morning was listed as DEAD (two card setup 7950 frozr's).  I tried scaling back settings and while that particular GPU now does something it only goes as high as 82kh/s while the other reaches 600 kh/s.

I thought it was a problem with the GPU so I switched it with another 7950 (brand new, waiting for riser cables before I can use three at once) but the problem still persists.  So I was thinking it was software related so I uninstalled the graphics driver and reinstalled as before (setup as per cryptobadger http://www.cryptobadger.com/2013/04/build-a-litecoin-mining-rig-windows/ ), also I reinstalled cgminer on top of the existing version I had and the problem is still there!

I'm so confused.  Did I wreck something?  Could the heat have done something to the motherboard perhaps?  (the card that failed was only running at 82/83 degrees) It cant be a problem with the GPU as the one I replaced it with is doing the same, undoing the overclock to stock settings doesnt do anything, reinstalling the graphics driver doesnt do anything.  What am I missing???

Hi guys.

Just offering a quick update.

I took my mobo into the place I purchased it today, they got it working perfectly and after describing everything they suggested it could be a ram issue.  I purchased a new 4gb stick which was 1600mhz and it all worked fine after that.  Looks like the other stick I was using was only 1333mhz.  Im not knowledgeable enough to know the difference between what the two offer but it seems that with one GPU the 1333mhz stick was fine but with two GPU's it just fried.

Currently have two GPU's in and its running good, as soon as my risers come I'll put the third GPU in and hope for the best.

Having the same issue so I thought I'd sign up to add to his thread but seems the forum has limitations for newbs.

Cant even PM.

If someone could pass this onto the guy who started that thread it'd be appreciated.

I got a few 7950's as well, all came at different times so for a few days I was running on one card.  Second came so I powered down the rig, installed the GPU and when I powered it on again there was a burning plastic smell and no video output, no bios, nada.  Mobo was showing a 99 status code (super IO initialization - seems to be linked to the PCIe slots), all fans were working, even on the GPU's but nothing working.

I tried reseating, going back to one card, changing PCIe slots, even using an old GPU from our entertainment rig.  Without a GPU the mobo would put out a no video output code (no onboard) and with any GPU installed it still gave the 99 code.

I've contacted the guys I bought the mobo from to get an exchange which should happen in a few days as long as they dont try to give me the send it away for warranty spiel.  Happy to keep you updated if you send me a PM or something.  Maybe post this to your thread in case it can help anyone else out as well
