1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 20, 2015, 07:12:30 AM
Wow, I just noticed the BTC-e dump. Wow, I'm really surprised that it didnt have a larger effect on the price (I have o idea how many Bitcoin were dumped). I really wish I could have gotten some BTC (or fraction of) for $150. Really, I'm optimistic. I hope we're not in for another week of boredom.

About 5000 coins I think.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1127306.msg11916788#msg11916788

Wow, and BTC-e is already back up at $270. Someone might have tried to start a crash (can that been done with 5000 coins?), but we're soldering through!

i'm not sure if it was to start a crash; it may have been just to profit from margin calls on MT4. i don't think the market pays that much attention to BTCE, although it did seem to react to the that crazy spike in April that preceded the rise past $300.

i'm a bit concerned at how few coins it took to get there, though. past cascades like this took a lot more. BTCE seems to be getting pretty illiquid, i guess.
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: Greeks Aren’t Necessarily Buying Bitcoin…Yet on: July 07, 2015, 07:58:43 PM
http://bitcointechie.com/greeks-arent-necessarily-buying-bitcoin-yet/

Still, give Greece time to learn about bitcoin, time to welcome new alternatives to purchase bitcoin and time for capital controls on banks to be lifted. Only then will we start to see the link between Greece and bitcoin strengthen. In the meantime watch the price continue to rise as the rest of the world learns about the risk involved when you trust a government with your life savings.

it's not about Greeks buying bitcoin. it's about the western world seeing what a depositor haircut/intensive capital controls looks like. it's about putting the fear of government default at the forefront. this is what could get people interested in bitcoin. and this will hopefully be much bigger than the population of Greece.
3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you use OkCoin futures? on: June 26, 2015, 12:13:19 AM
I used to. My primary trading was done at 10x futures. However, with all the rumors surrounding Okcoin (bad security protocols, front running their customers, making the market with un-backed accounts) I moved my funds elsewhere.

I have asked them to do a proof of reserves and publish balances managed by them - really hoping they are doing it.

the thing is, how much trust can you put into that? there was a reddit thread recently where the former CTO stated that Okcoin gamed the audit. here's the link:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/37tm1b/czs_statement_regarding_the_dispute_between/

Quote
I can confirm OKCoin removed a number of accounts (used by OKCoin bots) to pass the Proof-of-Reserve audit in Aug 2014. In essence, these bots trade on fractional (or fictional) reserves. Stephan Thomas was lied to during the audit. This is an unfortunate limitation of the proof-of-reserves method.
4  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Cost of Bitcointalk Accounts. on: June 26, 2015, 12:10:09 AM
well accounts market is just an amazing deal for sure be here for 1 week and buy a hero account even for 1btc will worth the cost ... can ROI IN around 3 months ,soo maybe better be active and keep posting on those 3 months

people have short attention spans, though. Cheesy i've been watching this market for a while, and it seems that people are focused on ROI within 4-6 weeks. can't comment on the fairness of that, but nonetheless, it seems most don't want to wait around for 3 months.
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 26, 2015, 12:08:15 AM
What will happen when the wall is gone?
Many would expect new lows, I'm not sure I see that happening, there seems to be a lot of accumulation going on behind the scenes.

behind the scenes -- what do you mean? in the OTC market, so supply isn't making its way to exchanges? or do you mean that buyers have formed somewhat of a support block that bears cannot penetrate?
6  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: June 26, 2015, 12:06:05 AM
SMA200 not broken, long term log trend not broken.

Just got emergency alert from my FX broker. 29 June greece will likely to default, extreme EURUSD and other pairs volatility and lack of liquidity expected.

I seat and think what it may mean to bitcoin. It is on verge of trendline. Will it break it up or will it collapse?

EUR will probably break up and DXY down... Bitcoin? I dont think much will happen.

interesting -- you think Grexit will cause Euro to break to the upside? or you think Grexit will not happen? i agree regarding bitcoin -- i don't think much will happen there. but this could have huge effects on FX and stocks. tough to call, really.
7  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way to turn 2BTC into 4BTC on: June 26, 2015, 12:04:48 AM
Easy.
Step 1. Go on a dice site
Step 2. Deposit 2 BTC
Step 3. Play on x2 multiplier settings
Step 4. Roll!

Hey, you asked for the best way... It wasn't going to be the safest way.  Those two just simply don't mix.

LOL.... pretty good. although i'd say that the "best" way probably means the "safest" way. to the OP's question (old as it is), it really depends on your skills. my best bet personally is to manage my risk in trading bitcoin and forex. it's worked out pretty well so far. Cheesy
8  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [Supersellers Shop]All Sites Premium Accounts on: June 26, 2015, 12:02:47 AM
still selling

i don't completely understand -- you are selling logins to these sites? or you are selling balances/tokens that can be loaded onto accounts? or both?

do you offer any warranty?
9  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Amazon gift cards on: June 26, 2015, 12:00:32 AM
well.... it seems the answer really is not clear. Huh

purse.io is really attractive, but i wonder if these claims of law enforcement involvement in these cases are really true. seems a bit over the top. is buying a gift card at a discount really grounds for criminal proceedings? i agree with the person who said, there doesn't seem to be any proof of any wrongdoing there.
Purse.io has a buyer purchase protection policy, they established it this year after law enforcement showed up at one of their buyer's house.

Quote
Starting January 7th, when a spender purchases items from Purse, their purchases will be covered for any damages or costs resulting form the purchase up to $10,000 with our Purse Guarantee. This program will apply retroactively to any spenders who may report any damages related to Purse.

ouch.... so that means that buying gift cards on Purse.io may result in police coming to my house. that doesn't seem ideal. do you have a link to this occurrence? even though i imagine it could be sorted out, this is the type of hassle i am trying to avoid.
10  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: June 25, 2015, 11:57:53 PM
We simply don't believe anything that is not logical.

the funny thing is that logically, we shouldn't believe anything. the entire scope of human knowledge is tainted by subjective human perception -- meaning that we cannot obtain truth. we can only obtain what we perceive to be true. there can be no objective knowledge.

the answer? nihilism, of course. Cheesy
11  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: June 25, 2015, 11:56:04 PM
In my country, to own a gun, you need:

- a membership from a shooting range
- you need to be active in the shooting range (at least a dozen times a year)
- you need to take an exam every 5 years
- you need to pay extra tax every 5 years
- your doctor needs to sign a weaver that you are capable of owning a gun
- you need a special cage to store your gun
- you need a signature of every person over 18 years old, living in your house
- certain calibers are just illegal, no normal civillian can own them... Period (it's pretty hard to own a firearm other than caliber 6 and 9 mm)
- the amount of ammunition you can own is limited (i think you can have 10.000 cartridges as a private citizen)

So it's basically almost impossible to own a gun legally (many people own guns illegally tough). However, gun related deaths are pretty low.

EDIT: even after all these thing, the government can change gun controll laws whenever they want. If you stop complying to the new laws, you have to turn in your firearm with the police for free, even when you bought it legally... (this actually happened on  two occasions the last couple of years)

this seems overkill. but tbh, i'm torn on the subject. on one hand, i'm generally for minimal government control. on the other hand, i think the pro-gun culture where i live (u.s.a.) is very destructive and contributes to the significantly higher gun violence here than other places.

i don't have a problem with guns, per se. my problem is with the mass of idiots that worship them and believe they are part of their own identity.

The image of the redneck with his confederate flag in the back of his F150 being the biggest gun buyer is not flying anymore...

Women fastest growing demographic for gun buyers

i'm not sure what point you are trying to make. the fact that women might increasingly be becoming gun owners doesn't really have anything to do with what i said.

CHEESE yum yum Grin

oh yes! cheese is a very special one. it's actually (from my understanding) an odd phenotype of Skunk #1 that was especially cheesy. trip out!

blue cheese is an old favorite, though i haven't seen it in a long time. blueberry x cheese. Cool
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: June 25, 2015, 11:40:50 PM
not even a bitcent! Angry

it's been an incredibly slow 24 hours in all markets -- bitcoin, forex, commodities. i'm dying of boredom here. the worst part is i've been staring at the charts, waiting for a move.....
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Frexit & Brexit on: June 25, 2015, 11:39:12 PM
I think that Greece is a potential catalyst for another stock market colapse.  The market is massively overvalued, and at the point in one of the longest bull runs in history, investors will pull their money at the drop of a hat.  And don't forget that interest rates will be rising soon, so get ready for another bungee jump.

a US stock market collapse? my thinking is that Grexit could cause a massive drop in the Euro, and accordingly, strength in the Dollar. that indeed could catalyze a nice drop in the stock market, as money flows back into less risky assets, like treasuries.
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sex behind bars. Conjugal Visits. Good or Bad? on: June 25, 2015, 11:25:44 PM
Wondering what the general consensus is regarding conjugal visits in prison. The way I see it, these criminals broke the law and it's been determined by a judge or jury that their freedom is to be taken away.

So why let criminals have sex in prison?

Do they let inmates on death row have them? If not. Why not?

What do you guys think?

i'm pretty much against imprisonment in most forms, so yes, i'd prefer to allow those in captivity the maximum conveniences to better their lives.

i'm not sure they would have much effect on prison rape rates. that subject goes a lot deeper than conjugal visits.
16  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Frexit & Brexit on: June 25, 2015, 11:23:13 PM
the whole Grexit issue if really interesting, in that it may (or may not be) a pandora's box for other countries to exit the union. on one hand, kicking out Greece may bolster the EU economy and the strength of the Euro by increasing confidence and removing the weakest link. on the other, it will empower anti-austerity parties and suggest to other governments that there may be viable alternatives to the EU.
17  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: June 25, 2015, 11:20:48 PM
Well there might not be a marked improvement immediately, but it would help in the long run. It certainly can't hurt. No matter how small a margin of shootings are prevented, it'd be worth it.

it's more about the aggregate of violent crime. switching shootings for stabbings isn't really better, is it? so, the question is will it actually prevent violent crime, or simply shootings?

19  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Boston Marathon Bombers on: June 25, 2015, 11:15:20 PM
One of the men behind the marathond bombing, Tsarnaev, has apologized for his behaviour.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/24/us/tsarnaev-boston-marathon-bombing-death-sentencing/

well, i suppose a death sentence after two years of waiting may do that. on one hand, he's had quite a lot of time to reflect on the deed. on the other, he might have a hopeless dream of future leniency.

The flame has been changed three times. Bartholdi's original design of the flame was for it to be constructed of copper and clad in gold. Hoping to make it more of a navigational beacon, it was first changed so that portholes could be added and it could appear to be lit from within. When that idea failed, Gutzon Borglum, who later went on to design and create Mount Rushmore, made the second change by adding glass panels and copper framing. This design leaked terribly and caused further deterioration within the statue. Finally, as part of the 1986 restoration project, Bartholdi's original flame design was recreated and installed and is visible today.
