@dstm

It seems to be there is a problem that might be related to the miner code. Sometimes the latency would just jump and the router hang:

This happens to me only when using ZMiner (using flypool to mine). It can happen 1-2 times per day and would stop router to work properly - making the whole LAN unusable.

I have called to ISP service and they said during this break, the router would spam their equipment with errors.

I am not 100% sure ZM causes this though. I can only say, that using other miners/scripts/pools doesn't create this kind of problem - only happens while using ZM and flypool.

--gpu-clock=1150  Set the gpu engine max clock (346.72+ driver)
--pstate=0[,2]    Set the gpu power state (352.21+ driver)
--plimit=100W     Set the gpu power limit (352.21+ driver)
Do those options will auto-overclock my GPU, or are they work as the max limit (making sure clock/temp/power doesn't go above set value)?

Have the same problem. Using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, nVidia 384 dirver, CUDA toolkit, using ccminer, mining on ASICPool:

- ZCash on flypool, DSTM ZCash Miner - quite accurate
- Feathercoin on Give-me-coins, ccminer - weird hashrate
- Monacoin on ASICPool, ccminer - weird hashrate
- NewScrypt on NiceHash, ccminer - quite accurate

I've noticed that chaning GPUGraphicsMemoryOffset changes Graphics precisely. Changing GPUMemoryTransferRateOffset affect Memory but a bit weird, e.g.:

Code:
 Attribute 'GPUMemoryTransferRateOffset' (ubuntu:0[gpu:0]) assigned value 400.

Will set Memory to 3999 (4000 is the max value??).

Can someone with more experience provide some explanation?

Ok, thank you for the input.

Going to try that in a while.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Powering x6 1070 properly on: December 01, 2017, 07:20:52 PM
My setup:
- x6 GTX 1070
- 1600 Watt PSU with x6 (6+2 and 6+2), x5 (stuff with bunch of molex and SATA adapters);
- x6 risers with 6pin
- So far tried to put one of x6 6+2 to power each GPU, use of of SATA adapter to power the 1 riser

Problem:
- It looks like SATA adapters would sometimes try to melt, because when I power on the PSU - it would shut down immediately (I even smelled burned plastic once).

Possible solution:
- Can I just use both 6+2 adapter of each cable, and just put 8pin to power GPU, while use the other 6pin with 6pin extender to power the riser? Will the 6+2, 6+2 cable handle this?

See this image for what I mean:

P.S. Just to be crystal clear: 1 SATA --> 1 riser seems to be fine. But once I try to use 2 SATA on the same cable to power 2 risers (1 SATA to each riser) - the rig power would sometimes not start, and auto halt. I have only 5 SATA/Molex cables vs 6 (6+2, 6+2) cables - so I am 1 cable short for powering 6th riser.

Can someone confirm which drivers work better for them on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS:
- 378 vs 384 vs (other versions) vs CUDA Toolkit?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] dstm's ZCash / Equihash Nvidia Miner v0.5.6 (Linux / Windows) on: November 29, 2017, 04:26:03 PM
So I think for most of us, we use MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision XOC.
What if I have a plain Ubuntu without the GUI? Just a terminal Cheesy

Since I want to control everything via SSH, without any GUI.

I am currently reading through all 73 pages of this thread. Does ZM have some tools for overclocking or do you all use some other tools (xorg.conf)?

Bios mod for 1070 ?
Also PCI 1.0 mean pci 1x it's usual to get that when you use a riser, do you have the other gpu connected to a riser or directly on the mobo ?
So far I have:
- MoBO Asus Z270P, BIOS 8010;
- x2 GeForce 1070, driver 384;
- Gen2 is set everywhere;
- Audio, SATA disabled;
- Primary display: PCIE, M.2: PCIE

Code:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation Device 1b81 (rev a1)
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation Device 1b81 (rev a1)

I am using Dynamode PCI-E x1 to 16x, 60 см USB 3.0 Cable SATA to 6Pin Power ver.006C - each of 2 GPUs are connected directly to the MOBO. I am about to add 2 more 1070, and then 2 more.

So far getting 440-450 Sol/W on each GPU, 60-65C - stock.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Unable to run more then 1 card on: November 27, 2017, 05:49:50 PM
There are some BIOS settings you should set:
1. Update BIOS to the latest version (or at least 06XX)
2. Disable PCIex power management
3. Set to Gen2 everywhere you find it (4 places)
4. Disable HD audio, serial port
5. Set primary display as PCIE
6. Set M.2 as PCIE
7. Enable Above 4G decoding

Thank you for the input.

1. Ok, BIOS was already at 8010
2. Never found an option to do it, only CPU Power Management
3. Only had 3 places (I have only 1 item under PEG Port Configuration)
4. Ok
5. Ok
6. Ok
7. Ok

After doing this, I was managed to run 450 Sol/W on both GPUs using DSTM's ZCash Miner. So, mission complete so far.

Still lots, to learn.

@dstm thank you for the great tool!

I have recently joined to the mining community. Setup Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, using x2 1070 (planning to extend), BIOS 8010 (tweaked).

Questions:
- Why GPU0 has PCI 1.0?
- Earlier this day, before some BIOS tweaks my GPU0 would have around 120 Sol/W. Curious whether this could be caused by PCI 1.0?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Unable to run more then 1 card on: November 27, 2017, 03:59:15 PM
Using:
- Asus Z270P
- Using GeForce GTX 1070 (all GPUs are the same)

Initially, when I've got the rig I tried to use Simpleminer. After 1 day of work and experiments it got this error.

Now I have installed a fresh Ubuntu 16.04 LTS myself and it gets the same error.

I have managed to fix it by updting grub with

Code:
pci=nomsi

But not sure whether it is a good idea. Pretty new to Linux, used this tutorial (https://blockoperations.com/build-6-gpu-zcash-headless-mining-rig-ubuntu-16-04-using-claymore/, I have skipped steps for AMD) to setup things. Still learning stuff.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Unable to run more then 1 card on: November 27, 2017, 03:40:55 PM
Trying to assemble and run a new rig. Have installed Ubuntu 16.04, GPU drivers, set up 1st card - works fine, mining fine.

Now whenever I add 2nd graphics card - unable to load Ubuntu, getting a screen with errors. It seems that only 1 pci slot works.

Assembled a new rig, Ubuntu 16.04, 1 GTX 1070 - works fine.

Now whenever I add 2nd 1070, unable to load Ubuntu - getting the screen with the messages running for eternity:

Those are the miners, that (looks like) are available to the SimpleMining users.

So my tasks is:
1) Pick the miner that can mine ZCash
2) Get proper config for picked miner
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Simplemining,1070, ZCash - config? on: November 22, 2017, 05:40:45 PM

getting:

Using https://simplemining.net/ to control the rig. Have a bunch fo GeForce 1070 GPUs. Would like to mine ZCash from one of descent pools (e.g. http://dwarfpool.com/zec).

How does the config should look like? Smth like:

Code:
-wd 1 -r 1 -epool stratum+tcp://zec-eu1.dwarfpool.com:3336 -ewal wallet_name.rig_name -esm 0 -epsw x -allpools 1 -mport -3333
