1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ROI] ROI Coin | CPU Only Solo Mining Hybrid | 15% POS | 593% Term Deposit on: January 08, 2019, 08:54:17 AM
Oh and can I ask please... All my coins are deposited now.  Do I have to leave the wallet running for 12 days?  Or can I close it from time to time when I need my PC to do other work?

Also as far is mining...  I mined for 4 hours and got nothing.  What is the difficulty now?
I mined at CPU speed of about 300H/s...  Nothing in 4 hours... Should I go back to pool mining again?
Or stick with it and try to nail a block? What are the odds of a block today?

Thanks,
Bob

OK back up and synced....

For those that are having this issue:
1) delete the blockchain and leave only your wallet file.
2) Start ROI coin wallet.
3) It may still say "No block source available" so do this> Help>Debug Window>Console and type addnode roi.suprnova.cc add
4) It should start working and will take about 30 minutes to download and sync the entire chain.

OK so can someone help me out?
What is the deposit thing all about?
What address do I use to deposit?  My own?
Any recommendations for how much and how long?

Thanks,
Bob

Bob thank you for your interest in the coin! So the deposit thing is the thing that makes this a triple hybrid. So the coin has POW CPU only mining, it has a standard POS % for coins just sitting in the wallet and then it has a term deposit option which allows you to lock coins for 2 days up to 1 year. The longer you lock them the higher % you will get. In order to do a deposit go to receive and create a address and copy it. Then click the deposit tab and send coins to that address (send to yourself basically) and just choose how many coins and for how long. Once you do the lock you will see a line item entry in the lower section of the wallet that will display all of your locked coin details.

If it might help you can watch a YouTube video that covers the entire process here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylG-6GiA-UQ&t=4s

Cool thanks!  I got it...  The video no longer matches the wallet software but it still made sense.  I get it now.
I just deposited all my coins for 12 days just to see what happens.

I mined these coins back in April when a pool was up and I felt these were worth mining.  As you know things have changed since then.  I decided to look at coins I was not following anymore and recently and decided to have a look again.  THIS seems like a fun coin and now I am more interested than I was last year!  It's an interesting coin....  So I am going to play again now...

Again thanks for the explanation and video...  Lets see what happens in 12 days as this is new to me vs. litecoin and others I have been playing with...

I have been getting this with one on my ML2 a lot lately:

[2019-01-06 09:09:30] FutureBit Write error: Input/output error

It will work after being re-plugged in but only for a day or so.
Anyone have any clues as to what is causing this?

That means device dropped out completely from hub/USB port, and it will not reconnect on it's own, you need to unplug it to have it back.

I would try different USB hub / different USB cable.

Maybe not your same problem but I am running 2 moonlanders off a 4 port hub for a year now with a 8A PSU.  Recently started getting the same thing.  Turned out the contacts in the hubs USB ports got "tarnished" or something. Possibly due to the high amp draw and the cheap port contacts used in it. A simple bump to the desk or cords would cause enough vibration to cause the same thing to happen.  My hub runs pretty hot right at the ports too...  The moonlanders seem to transfer some heat to the ports or due to amperage they just get hot.

Anyway I cleaned up the contacts on both the ports and the moonlanders. In the hub ports I used a X-acto knife to bend the contacts up (they flattened over time again possibly due to the heat) so when plugging back in the moonlanders made solid contact. Problem solved.....

Hope that helps,
Bob

Yes, I deleted the blockchain and restarted and now it is syncing pretty quickly.

I did addnode roi.suprnova.cc add
and I still get "No block source available"....

I guess the next thing is to start over and download the entire blockchain Sad

OK So I have the latest wallet 1.2.0 and I have 3.46 of coin in my wallet.  Have not mined or opened the wallet in about 5 months.
Now when I do it says I am 23 weeks behind and to the left it says "No Block Source Available".

What is wrong?

Bob

Did you leave it for a few minutes to see if it will connect?
Is there a firewall blocking it? Can you provide
a screenshot? In worst case I can upload the synced blockchain somewhere so you can
download it and replace the old one.

Yes I left it running for an hour.  Same thing.  I reinstalled the wallet and got the firewall pop up and I allowed it.  Same thing.
Seems you cannot post images here on this forum so I will post a screen shot somewhere else and provide a link here.

Sucks the difficulty of Litecoin has gone up so much.
When I started I January with 2 Moonlanders I was getting .00064 a day not it's down to .00044

 Sad

I just received my device, followed the instructions... No device found...   I'm seeing people with "no device found" on here so I checked my recent windows updates (running windows 7 x64) which one should I roll back ? the only ones I'm seeing are MSE security updates, and a "monthly quality rollup" ??

does the device need to be in a special powered USB hub or are the regular USB's on mobo and case good enough?

seems to be a solid chip, will be extremely happy to get it hashing and plan to buy a few more

Make sure you downloaded the UART driver from silicon labs. To check if that loaded correctly go to your devices panel and you should see it under a COM device...otherwise something is going on with the silicon labs driver.

I got mine running on the new Windows update using the older generic silicon labs drivers.
Uninstall the drivers and re-install these from the web site  v6.7.5.
They will no longer be listed in device manager under COM ports and "moonlander2".
They will be listed as Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COMx)

I just installed the Windows 10 update 1803 and after install the Moonlander2 drivers did not work.
In device manager it listed the Moonlanders but had a triangle.
BFGMiner when run says "No devices found".
I tried reinstalling them, removing them and reinstalling but to no avail. The driver Preinstaller program fails with an error.
When I try to manually install the drivers, the error says INF file invalid.

I downloaded the v6.7.5 version from the driver page and they worked!
In device manager under COM ports it no longer lists them as Moonlander2 and instead lists them as Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COMx).
BFGimner now sees them Smiley

Just a tip should you run into this.

New to this coin.  I have mined about 10 coins with my Moonlander 2.
How do you stake your coins?  Just leave the wallet running?
Not interested right now in a staking pool as I just want to know how it works?
Again n00b here Smiley

Hi there J,
So is there any way to return one of my MLD2's for repair? The raised black thing next to the heatsink labeled "L1" on the circuit board just under the "der" of Moonlander on the board.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Huh Huh Embarrassed Embarrassed

And the heatsink is damaged....just noticed that upon closer inspection and it appears that my dog may have gotten to it, which answers a few questions for me.  If at all possible to fix please let me know...and if it is even worth it...

My dog ate it....  LOL....
Sorry this is too funny!

Edit 2:
With some messing around i think i've found the culprit. One of the sticks was drawing 3.7 amps at 5v!! Even while running at 600mhz for a test it went over 3.58amps. Guessing this one is defected Sad Core voltage and memory both are at 0.8-0.82. This stick won't hash above 2.6-2.68MHash, so i'm hoping bitshopper.de has some sort of warranty for DOA sticks...

You can put a command in the command line that turns on the log.  In the log it will state how many cores are good.  63 is the correct number.  Check that stick and see how many cores are working.

Per the boss Smiley

Put "-D 2>log.txt" at the end of the bat command. Start it up and it will spit out the log.txt file in same directory. In there you will see startup sequence and it checks for number of active cores. Should say 64.

It is 0-63 so it should say 63 not 64.

Your welcome! Have you tweaked memory voltage as well? And what hub are you using? As you've probably noticed by now, these MLD's are at the top of what most hubs can deliver. Especially if using multiple MLD's. If the hub is not powerfull enough, you can get these errors. That's what i don't get at the moment with my updated mine, the 2 slow ones are just, SLOW... But not to many errors! Still, gonna swap the 120watt powersupply for a 150watt powersupply and see if that fixes it all. Or if i need to use a 2nd hub and that the DC-DC converters in my hub, in the end, just are not strong enough.

I have a 6 amp brick PS running 2 MLD's.  It's handling it fine as the voltage on the buss of the hub holds at 5.1v.
It's possible the 5V has ripple or noise since it's just a cheap brick PS.
The error rate is related to clock speed as at 832 I am below 1% error rate.  at 852 it's over 20% error rate.
Even if I try this with one stick same thing. Core set to 8.2V doesn't help.

Yes I set mem voltage as low as I could go per the info on page one until it would not hash.  Then went up till it did.  Running .76 memory as I recall.

I might get a more solid clean PS and see.

Got these in just in time today Smiley

2 are running slower than the others. Will check tomorrow with a different power supply and or an extra hub to see if that is the issue.

WOA!  Getting serious now aren't you....

ps; damn it took me long enough to put 1+1 together haha, Finless Bob Smiley Pleasure discussing these things with an android mod legend Cheesy

LOL....  Not many know that Smiley

FYI, I am mining coins using some Android boxes moded to do so.  Smiley

Bob

Lol, that was actually my next question! If you were mining on android hehe Smiley which boxes are you using?

Im still using your modded android on a mk908ii stick Smiley

FYI, thanks for the voltage... unfortunately mine are not so lucky.  I stopped at .82V and still get too many errors running above 832.

I have 5 boxes all mining.  The Rockchip boxes do better because they have more cores and faster clocks.  The AMLogic boxes are not so good at it. I stripped the ROMs to nothing (apps and services) and I get about 40 H/s per box mining XMR.  It's not much really but as you know these are super low on power and I just leave them running non-stop.  They add to my PC's hashrate in the end.  The old boxes would basically be sitting collecting dust till now Smiley

Got in a multimeter todat, will try to get some readings tomorrow! My guesstimate would be around .85-.87

Thanks!  Will be interesting to compare notes....  I have just been too timid to go up in voltage much more.  But now that I have some nice brushless USB fans, I am ready to try Smiley

Bob

Can you link your fans?

You bet!
