2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Japan's biggest energy supplier in blockchain partnership!! (ELEC) on: April 16, 2018, 02:39:15 PM
Singapore’s ELECTRIFY has signed an MOU with TEPCO and hopes to make Japan a major market for its P2P electricity marketplace

ELECTRIFY, a Singaporean startup that is using the blockchain to allow people to trade electricity on a peer-to-peer marketplace, announced today the signing of an MOU with TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company), Japans largest utility company.

The deal will involve co-developing a proof-of-concept for Synergy — the name for marketplace — which is based in Singapore. If the partnership goes smoothly, ELECTRIFY will work to integrate the system in Japan’s electricity infrastructure.

Synergy is an ambitious project because if it works, the result would be leveraging the blockchain to radically change how electricity is consumed (and sold) within entire cities.

While not launched yet, Synergy hopes to allow anyone to source electricity directly from suppliers or to buy energy from a private producer (thus, creating an avenue for people to sell their electricity).

For example, if someone use uses solar power to power their startup office, they might generate more electricity than they use. ELECTRIFY wants to be the go-to source for sellers to find buyers via the marketplace. If adopted at a mass scale, it has the potential to significantly reduce waste and financially incentivise people to switch to renewable sources of energy.

selling now is the worst thing you can do, if you didn't sell when the price was high you've already missed your opportunity so now you just have to wait it out
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Red. red....RED...how bad is your portofolio affected? on: March 15, 2018, 10:00:07 AM
My Wife and I have been affected since January by a 90% decline in our portfolio value, hence all our little bag of wealth and savings has diminished rapidly, so our safety net we were hoping for has not materialized now. This means that the struggle for survival is on and we have to work more hours to earn less, because our living expenses, year in, year out, go up, but now our earnings are diminishing rapidly. I hope though that we can still pull it off to earn a living over the next few years, or at the age of 61,  will have to start looking for work and when you are as old as I am, no employer in the real world wants to take you on.  Sad

your way too over invested if it's going to affect your retirement and you have to work extra jobs.

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The real reason behind the decline of Bitcoin and all other Altcoins on: February 05, 2018, 03:48:35 PM
Are you looking for the real reason behind the massive declines we've seen recently?

The answer is 2 words = Interest Rate.

The US is going to keep on raising it and investors are looking for save haven that pays sure dividends ... so the US Dollar that everyone has buried in the last decade is outperforming all the Cryptos, and soon the EUR/USD will hit a parity (it's $1.25 now, it won't stay like this for a long time).

History always repeats itself, one way or another.

interest rates are nothing compared to staking returns on pos tokens, what were witnessing is the end of POW coins like bitcoin
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why aren't there more women in Bitcoin? on: January 22, 2018, 09:20:31 AM
it's because there's no leverage by being a woman in crypto, the market doesn't care if your a woman so complaining about inequality or the wage gap isn't going to improve your investments.

10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Steadfast Resolve on the fall on: January 17, 2018, 04:44:51 PM
because we go through this every few months and it recovers every. single. time.
And yes this would be the true except for the numbers that must tell lies.

Was you the one giving me abuse when I was warning people here that putting
a stop-loss on at $10,000 might be a god plan or was it you telling me to "Buy on the dip"
when BTC was last at $17,000

The only thing here that's been stable is the $30 Tx fees for about the past 6 weeks
and you wonder why people are getting out and won't be coming back or do you think
they didn't mind being mugged by miners who are desperate to continue playing
CPU-War with each other.

Tulips kept recovering until they didn't

No i was not the one giving you abuse?

i don't really care about bitcoin but if you think the market won't recover (especially eth) then you are mistaken

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No loyalty in the Crypto World on: January 10, 2018, 09:13:30 AM
Ripple was waaaaay over hyped, newbies buying in are going to sell when they start seeing losses. if you didn't see this coming then i don't know what to tell you.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will mining will ever stop ? on: January 09, 2018, 12:02:49 PM

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you been a victim of scams? on: January 04, 2018, 02:24:26 PM
I am really interested in this topic and am writing Bachelor thesis about types of frauds on the internet. I believe it is serious problem and it is important to share your stories so others would be aware of these issues.

Please share your experience, where you faced scams, what were your losses, do you know anyone else who faced same issues?

Examples of scams:
1.) Shady Exchanges
2.) Pyramids and Ponzi Schemes
3.) ICOs
4.) Mining software with malware
5.) Emails from scammers.

I will be really thankful for your stories!

P.S. Please specify scam websites, token names or projects in order to bring awareness.

The biggest scams currently are multi level marketing, they seem to be incredibly popular on social networks although not typically crypto
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is EMC2 tanking so much? on: December 21, 2017, 11:58:14 AM
They pumped the price with the tease of a huge announcement, turns out they just changed a bit of the mining algorithm. it stinks of scam.

Vitalik Buterin say

Right now my favorite token model is OMG-style staking tokens. Reasons:

* Not a medium-of-exchange token
* Clear valuation model (expected discounted future tx fees minus node operation cost)
* Requires running node to get returns, not passive income (so more legally defensible)

https://twitter.com/VitalikButerin/status/940429788673536000

This is new tweet wow  Shocked
Market also reacted this tweet so quickly as I see.

Yeah that certainly didn't take long! Unsure how long this hype will last tho, their next releases are still a while ahead

omg will be added to coinnest exchange in 1 hour, koreans are notorious for pumping new coins so it might be a sustained rise this time
