Ok so it seems I'm a bit behind on the latest news. I read the e-mail update
Am I to understand that.. every single board has a hardware fault? And because I don't wish to tinker with it myself (haven't even opened them), I should return to sender? Any forms to fill out or emails to send?
Everyone who in the US wants a pre-paid label to send their boards to be fixed. It seems as tho there's a number that don't want labels... sigh this is a mess.
Ok guys if you want/need a prepaid label with UPS to send the boards back to be fixed, please send me an email @ mininghosting@ gmail.com with your from address, and from the email you want me to respond with a label. All you will need to do is pack everything back up in the box, and slap the label on it and drop it off at UPS.
Send him an email and he'll get you the label to send it back to be fixed.

In that case I'll check this gift card I've had lying around. It supposedly was a $10 starbucks card lol, awesome man It's a good thing I've spent my life in IT and use to weeks of no sleep more than often. I ripped of the scratchy part to check it but it still has the original $10 on it lol. I'm glad these cards don't expire. I've had this one since my HS graduation... So over 3 yrs now lol. Never once touched it because I lost it until August and I have yet to ever go near Starbucks since its 30 min away.

Hey Guys.
The repairs are being done by one of the members of our group buy. His forum name is tk1337. I have spoken with him for an extensive time and i trust him. He has a lot of experience with this sort of thing as well as all the equipment required to do the job. By all means, if you feel up for doing the fix yourself please do, otherwise, send your boards to the address on the labels and it will happen nice and quick.
In terms of security, you all have this persons name and address on the mailing label too so we can go lynch mob him if things go wrong, though they won't. :-) I believe this is the best and fastest way for all our U.S. members to get their boards sorted out. Feel free to write to me if you have further concerns.
Cheers
Barntech
I live in Florida, across the coast, but I could drive over in case of an "emergency" Thanks Barntech for your follow thru & bobsag3 for helping as much as he has & thanks too tk1337 for helping pull our butts outta the fire Looking forward to the "Return of the Drillbits" As I told jml25 in PM, anyone in Florida that is near and wants to drive over, feel free to, just contact me, as I'm going to be pretty busy and I'd like to keep things orderly with a queue and what not. (& if you come over, Starbucks would be awesome! I'm not really a coffee person (more of a tea person), but I'm a sucker for peppermint mocha's from Starbucks around this time of year... and I'm definitely going to need the caffeine, haha) In that case I'll check this gift card I've had lying around. It supposedly was a $10 starbucks card

I need everyone to make sure that the email that you gave Barntech for shipping is correct, I will be sending all the labels to the provided addresses later on today.
Since my board is coming in today do I need to fill out the form or are you just sending to anyone who purchased the board? Its sad that this has happened but thanks for everything you are doing to help out. Assuming I can get to the store before I go to work (we have a UPS dropoff at my workplace) I'll throw in some coffee or something as a small token of gratitude since I'm a poor man. Just name the type and I'll try to get some

Ok, so we have someone lined up to do the parts replacement for the U.S. Bobsag will be sending out prepaid shipping labels to everyone. Send your boards as soon as you can and we will get them sorted out. Can you please put a post it note or something on all the 'no green light' boards so it is easy to identify them on the other end.
Europe and other parts of the world, i'm still working on a plan for you guys. We have someone in Norway willing to help out, so once i get a bit more info from everyone, we can get that moving also. All Australian orders, please send back to me.
I'm not publishing replacements psrts for DIY until we try and test them. As soon as we get results i'll let you all know.
Thank you so much for all your patience.
Cheers
Barntech
Sounds like you and Bobsag need a round of thanks and for rounds 2 and 3 of dealing with everyones boards. Oh and possibly a couple rounds of coffee too

LP1 looks like a fun job with my iron .-. I nearly if not already ruined it by tooooo much heat trying to solder 0603's and a 48-TQFP with shoddy 0.022in silver solder that took assloads of heat to melt. I shall see if its possible or if i need to ship it once it arrives tomorrow

Well look at it this way... If someone doesn't destroy bitcoin before we get a chance to run these miners you should have a lot more than that coming soon. Its not a terahash but it will kick some ass.
That it will :3 I'd be awesome to one day own a petahash system but for now the 8 board will get me all the extra i need

Every single US board has been dropped off via UPS Overnight (there were 2-3 people who that didnt work for, and had to use 2nd day air instead). Almost everyone should have it on friday or monday at the latest. I will have some more pictures and stuff soon... But im taking a break to eat and take some asprin. That was alot of boxes.

Just posting a little note for others here. I have made a guide on how to compile the Drillbit CGMiner for Raspbian on the Drillbit forums found here: http://drillbitsystem.com/forum/index.php?topic=191.0This guide is just for those that are running Raspbian on their Raspberry PI who wish to do it themselves. If it is wanted I can actually attempt to make a .DEB file to simplify it. If anyone wants me to post it on that post and I'll get to work on it as soon as I can.

We need Atmel brains!
And MOAR COWBELL!!!! Just kidding. But yeah we need them.. If only the one chip I have was the ATMega32U4 instead of ATMega328P, I'd donate my chip...

Geez... I go awol for a couple days to work on my video game and come back answer ONE question that was posted here based on what I've read catching up and people go all apeshit over it .-.
BTW I'm posting a basic 12V to 5V 6A converter schematic on the forum in a minute for those who want a simple board.

While it would be easy to install about 5 smd 7805's on the board to convert 12v to 5v, it would also require a huge redesign to place them as well as heatsinking them. And as the blank pcb's are either most likely being made or are on their way to the assembler it's too late to change that without upping the price for everyone and starting over scrapping well over 100 boards.

Hey all.
Yes let's keep discussions on specific things over on the forum at drillbitsystem.net/forum. I'll try to jump in there when i can to answer questions. I'll also try to do up a specs sheet thingy which will hopefully address most of the questions being asked.
As for USB cables, i have decided that because i love you all so much, i'll send USB cables free with the miners when we send them out, so you don't need to worry about those.
Barntech
That's a relief. I was searching for one of my old mini USB cables but all 6 of mine either disappeared, rusted ( absolutely nooo idea how that happened o.O ), or are in use on my USB hub...

So i was looking through my old pc parts bin looking for Power Supplies I could use for 4x Boards and a Miniplane when i found this: Good News: 40A on 5v (Potential) Bad News: old style 20pin ATX connector. Can we get confirmation that 20 pin can be used in the 24 pin slot or not for the drillbit miniplane? I know you can do this in some circumstances, bit since one of the missing pins is 5v, would this cause issues since the drillbit boards rely on 5v power? I was looking at the photos of the boards and the missing 5V and Ground might put a strain on the 5V lines from the psu but should still be possible. However You should be able to use the 4 pin Molex connectors on each board and then the ATX connector on the miniplane for power control. Or if you don't mind the strain you could get one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812201001
