1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What can you say about Robinhood crypto? on: January 26, 2018, 02:49:14 AM
I'm really excited about this. I love the Robinhood app! I think this is great news for all cryptocurrencies. Coinbase will be dead soon.
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: January 06, 2018, 06:51:23 PM
Damn it, I missed the last batch because I was only following Twitter. How much did Bitmain charge for the last batch of S9? Is it still only BCH? thx
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What GPUs did you use in your most recent mining rig build? January 2018 on: January 06, 2018, 06:32:25 PM
Hi, I want to build my first mining rig but my head is completely spinning with all of the options or should I say lack of options. GPUs seem to be very difficult to find nowadays and the ones that I can find are limited in quantity at most places to one or two per purchase. So I'm just curious what GPUs have you guys used most recently and why? Where'd you get them from?

Would it really make a difference if I had several different GPUs from different manufacturers in the same mining rig? Also, I saw one video on YouTube where a guy said that most people only build 6 or 8 GPU mining rigs because anything more than that just becomes a pain in the ass with bios updates and crashes. Is it really that much more difficult to have a 12 GPU or 19 GPU mining rig?

5  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: app or signal that let you know when a miner model is available on bitmain on: December 30, 2017, 12:32:44 AM
They announc it on Twitter. The last batch sold out within 24 hours of the first announcement.
6  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Starting mining operation on: December 30, 2017, 12:14:42 AM
We will be ordering 200 S9 miners

Damn bro, that's awesome! You're going to have a very large operation. To be a devil's advocate, I must ask why are you putting all your eggs in one basket? Why not mine other coins or do some GPU mining? Diversify your portfolio!?! You are putting all your risk into one coin and that may not be a good idea. There's no telling which altcoin might be the Breakaway coin for next year and as you may know etherium and litecoin have increased much more than Bitcoin this year.
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: December 24, 2017, 07:10:52 PM
Okay so it seems like it's official Halongmining is an absolute scam with all the false promises of doing demos and reviews we still have not seen one and they missed the latest trade show There is zero evidence that they have one single working unit. So I think it might make sense to change the title of this thread to "Halongmining Dragonmint is a scam."
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we in a Bitcoin Bubble on: December 24, 2017, 03:49:08 PM
The bubble has popped several times over the past few days. It went from $20,000 to nearly $10,000 and then to $16,000. Now it is back to $13,000. This was guaranteed to happen because there are so many new people in the market and the price rose so quickly. This is a good thing. This is just market correction. The the price will stabilize soon. I think we will see $20,000 and above within the next month or two.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Belarus President Signed A Decree That Legalizes Mining And Cryptocurrencies on: December 23, 2017, 03:40:34 PM
"Thus, the decree establishes conditions for using of cryptocurrency and tokens, and also introduces tax credits for cryptocurrency transactions."

Wow! They are giving tax credits for cryptocurrency transactions while other countries are trying to ban cryptocurrencies. Good for them
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: December 21, 2017, 01:41:46 AM
It's never a good idea to buy a company's stock when that company's CEO and other executives are selling the stock. Generally that means they know something the public doesn't know and they're taking profits before the stock tanks. This whole business about Lee selling all his Litecoin is got me worried that something bad is coming
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you draw on a line of credit to buy altcoins? on: December 21, 2017, 01:26:50 AM
All the financial advisors that I've seen are saying that no one should put money into cryptocurrency unless you can stand to lose it all. In other words, treat it like gambling in a casino. Matter of fact, most casinos offer lines of credit but the only people that gamble with credit in a casino are people with an addiction problem.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hard Times for a Hodler!! on: December 21, 2017, 01:19:09 AM
I just bought some bitcoin at the 19,500 level but I'm not worried. I think it will hit $100,000 in 2018.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 21, 2017, 12:30:03 AM
Damn, I can't believe they sold out of S9 in less than a day. I was going to buy some but I didn't have enough time to get bch.

Was this unusual to sell out so fast? How long do Bitmain's batches of S9 usually last before selling out?
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Real Casino or Digital Casino. Whats is your Poison? on: December 17, 2017, 04:25:52 PM
I would never trust an online casino. All the real casinos in the USA have state gaming police that verify that all the slot machines and video poker machine are really paying out at the odds that they were reportedly set to. The gaming police also investigate cases of cheating at table games. I worked in a casino many years ago and I have seen all the regulation and government oversight that goes into the casino industry. I can only imagine how crooked a casino would be with no regulation.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins for illegal activity on: December 16, 2017, 02:27:11 PM
Yes, Bitcoin is used for drug trafficking, illegal gambling, money laundering and other criminal activity but I don't see how that is a bad thing for the average Bitcoin investor. The modern world has tried to stop all of these illegal activities for a very long time and they have had no success. Drugs are cheaper, more potent and more readily available than ever before. Illegal online gambling grows every year. Matter of fact, I don't believe they will ever stop the drug trade or illegal gambling. It is just a fact of life. I do not support or participate in any way with the illegal drug trade, gambling ,or money laundering but I think they provide a certain valuable level of support for cryptocurrencies. They allow that cryprocurrencies will never be completely devalued because they have the decentralized anonymous features that support such illegal activities.

I don't think that pornography is one of humanity's greatest achievements and I can't say that it contributes much to society as a whole. However, during the 1990s, the pornography industry was the number one industry that led to research and development in the internet and because of the support of the pornography industry, the internet grew by leaps and bounds. Pornography eventually alowed for the massive worldwide adoption of the internet. I think that without pornography the world would not have the internet as it is today.

Today the internet is not solely associated with the pornography industry. As such, I believe that in the near future cryptocurrencies will no longer be so strongly associated with illegal activities.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: December 12, 2017, 05:06:25 PM
I bought 1 litecoin less than two weeks ago for $70. Now it's at $369.

19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: December 11, 2017, 05:29:10 PM
I would like to thank all of the more senior members for posting in this thread and relaying the fact that there has been a number of ASIC mining hardware scams in the past. Thank you for setting for the criteria that this company must meet in order to prove that they are not a scam.

Promojo we're all waiting with bated breath for your review Wink
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 10, 2017, 05:00:51 PM

I think it's funny that they name this thing "Antminer airflow noise reducer." This is just a duct muffler that's made for the hydroponics industry. This particular one is made for a 4in duct which may be a little bit undersized for any real performance. You may be better off getting a 6 inch or 8 inch duct reducer to connect to the 4in ducts on the antminer and then use a 6 or 8 inch muffler. Of course for maximum silence, you would need to build a wooden box around antminer and also use insulated flexible duct. Then you should be able to get the noise level down to next to nothing.the Hydroponics industry has been doing this for decades. They have had to utilize massive fans to cool the extremely hot metal halide or high pressure sodium lights that they use and do so in an extremely quiet way so as not to raise suspension of law enforcement.
