1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you want from an ICO? on: June 05, 2018, 11:13:19 AM
Having taken some time to look at a number of ICO's in depth, it looks to me that a large number of them may be marketers first and developers second. They all seem to be great at selling a vision or product but when you actually start to scratch beneath the surface, you start to notice that they promise the impossible, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. That's not to say that all ICOs are like that, there's a number of very well thought out and genuine ones.

So my question is, what do you want from an ICO with regards to its presentation and what they offer? Is having a working demo or MVP the most important? Is it all about the team or does that not matter if they've already demonstrated their competence? Do you want the ICO team to generate hype and "oversell" or would you rather a more honest and direct approach?
Have MVP can be considered as an additional value to the team and that means if the team is serious to developing the platform. But the majority of ico traders are aiming to get early hype of the ico itself.
Remember ONT gives every ico holders more than 70x from the ico price. Zill which around 65x from the ico price and that's they are looking for.

I Agree. MVP is important. beta launch within a shortish time frame also and a solid use for the token/coin in the real world. I guess you have to decide how you are going to operate with each ico. if it's hyped like crazy with no solid use / MVP then you can do what the 90% do and dump early at exchange. I've been holding my MVP tokens hoping for some big gains but I'm thinking the time of 50x is over or you have to be very lucky. 2018 has been a pretty poor show for most ico's
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is wrong with you people? on: June 05, 2018, 11:04:03 AM
Yes there are way too many altcoins on the market. bring on regulation I say. The altcoin market is just too diluted and it seems everyone these days is a quick dumper at exchange. you get to the point where there is little choice but to do the same or risk a below ico price...or waiting 12 months for some rebound / beta / mainnet etc to arrive and maybe boost the price.
Maybe he's talking about the altcoin forum and putting effort into the chat ( because there's a lot of unreadable low value posting)
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty KYC on: June 05, 2018, 10:58:15 AM
I don't see a problem with KYC for bounty as it reduces (not eliminates) multiple bounty accounts and bounty bots. Ideally ico's should have this requirement at bounty stage and not bring it in at a later date but often conditions change through the ico. I've only come across one bounty where the kyc has required payment ($9) and i was initially dubious of this. (Dfinity) but after looking into it it was legit and the payout was more than worth the $9.
Best to go into the telegram chat and see whats going on and if it's legit before sending any money. I hope it doesn't become a thing to pay for kyc / bounty.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Got my rewards for first successful bounty campaign I joined on: June 05, 2018, 10:49:12 AM
Hope you sold your token. I just had a look on idex and it's at 0.00002379 which makes it .285 ETH. still not too bad for free tokens. perhaps it got to an exchange as there is little volume on idex. maybe it's higher at an exchange at the moment. Anyway well done.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to ensure the safety of wallet? on: June 04, 2018, 10:46:35 AM
Personally I bought a hardware wallet and never looked back (ledger) It's been great for me and i feel much safer. I keep all my private keys as hardcopy and enable 2FA on all exchanges. Of the crypto I own which have their own wallets I tend to keep hardcopy seed words and sometimes for the smaller amounts on computer in a secure program like dashlane.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I invest only in ICOs on: June 04, 2018, 10:37:31 AM
Be careful! 2018 has seen most ico's drop below ico price and many don't make it to exchanges (not counting idex, etherdelta) I also invest in ico's but not exclusively. I've seen some of mine drop below ico price and some go 2 x...still hoping for some market recovery and some bigger gains. current ico's? suchapp, Kepler, One ledger (if you got in), Quarkchain (if you got in)
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth buying low-volume tokens? on: June 04, 2018, 10:26:49 AM
It's more risk to buy the low volume tokens as they can be much more volatile. prices can go up and down quickly and in large amounts so best to be sure of the token and it's long term value to reduce the risk in case you wind up sitting on a low price token. If you pick the good company then hopefully even if it sits low for some time it will eventually come back up. I wouldn't buy and trade a token purely based on the volume.
8  Other / Serious discussion / Re: If crypto in the future is the world currency, what about the government? on: May 31, 2018, 11:52:03 AM
I think at some point governments will have to embrace crypto and believe there will be nation or country coins spring up as an attempt to do this...Aussiecoin? USAcoin etc. wether the public get on board a nation coin is debatable but one could certainly transition a lot of government functionality and services to a nation coin which would reduce fees and complexity for the departments in question. Would this then devalue the dollar? maybe...
9  Other / Serious discussion / Re: My theory: the GAMING INDUSTRY will be BTC strongest ALLY in the upcoming years. on: May 31, 2018, 11:46:06 AM
The gaming industry will definitely boost some coins in the future. I don't think BTC will be part of that nor will mining while playing games be big as the amounts are too small. there are several projets which reward through playing games ( such as refereum ) so this crypto integration is already happening. One project which looks very interesting is open platform who are gaining partnerships with gaming. They create a bridge between the user and the game developer and make it easy to add a crypto function (payment or reward) to an app or a game.
10  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Why EOS is actually killing the market on: May 31, 2018, 11:41:06 AM
very interesting. I think most large ICO's have this ability to sell off as they require for financing. i'm not sure if the amounts are large enough to drive the market down but maybe.
11  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does holding long term can be worthy despite of unpredictable market? on: May 29, 2018, 11:00:29 AM
there are a lot of holders out there after the bear market of 2018, Myself being one. All we can do is stay positive and hope there is some recovery. This last week has been a challenge again. Id just got back to parity when the market tumbled 30-40%. I tend to keep buying crypto i think is worthwhile and spread the loss with the hope of better gains down the track. I find it very hard to book the losses and sell under what i paid so am still holding crypto with large losses. but...like you I stay positive on this. It will only take one of my investments to go boonty to cover these losses.
12  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Any knowledgable thoughts on how to create a healthy environment for ICOs? on: May 29, 2018, 10:33:27 AM
The way to fix this is through regulation (SEC) or otherwise. Which in the long term is a good thing for the crypto world. Possibly it would have a short term negative effect but in the long term would increase the quality of ico's and would help to eliminate the scams.
right now the only choice is your own due diligence in investigating the ico through research. I think you can eliminate a lot of ico's this way. After that you are taking a risk but at least it's an educated one. Reverse KYC is an interesting idea however you can also find out a lot in linkedin at the moment.
Yes i do agree with all of your points. But SEC should have a regulation in place right now for ICOs, don't ya think?

Yes I do. i think regulation of ico's would cut the launch rate in half at least. Of course regulation would have to come from multiple individual countries for this to have a dramatic effect. I believe the US is slowly moving closer to regulation and we can see them chasing fraudulent ico's already however this is only in the US and there are a lot of other countries in the world launching ico's.
13  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Do you think it is fair to save merits for high-quality, low-ranked members? on: May 27, 2018, 12:58:08 PM
I, unsurprisingly, think this is a great idea. The higher ranked members have a lot of excess merit and do not need more. Can someone tell me where the merit came from originally and what the criteria was for it's original distribution? Was it a reward for higher ranked members at the outset? I've been here since December last year and granted am not on here all the time, didn't hear about how to receive merits when they were introduced.

I think encouraging newer members is a good policy to decide on gifting your merit.

15  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Seriously, why would anyone want $20 Billion Dollars? on: May 26, 2018, 08:04:42 AM
For the mega wealthy I would guess it's not really about the lifestyle but rather the power and influence. At a certain point the money is just numbers because in reality 20 billion is too much for anyone. So then it comes down to power, influence and Ego. I think a lot of billionaires lose touch with the real world and also lose a lot of empathy in the process. Murdoch can go to a casino and drop 5 million on one hand of poker or roulette wheel (yes it happens)...thats just disgusting considering what good that money could do.

For many that kind of money or the path of getting to the point of having that kind of money turns you into an Ass@#le.
16  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Getting access to BTC in event of death on: May 26, 2018, 07:55:56 AM
I guess the first option is to involve your wife in the crypto world to an extent where she understands the basics and how to navigate wallets, exchanges and 2FA. Then if the worst were to happen she could follow (see below)
instructions: instructions are a good idea. do you have a safe place to store all your private keys and 2FA reset codes? Maybe you can legally file certain information with your lawyer or get a safe deposit box for this. (I still have my private keys in hardcopy at home but I don't have enough to worry about a safe deposit box)
As far as I can see it thats the only way while still staying safe from others and also from giving your wife access to everything now. Also forgive me but you never know when a relationship can go south ( and in my case completely out of the blue ) so the instructions in a safe deposit box seems the best way.
17  Other / Meta / Re: Merit where for art thou on: May 26, 2018, 07:31:52 AM
You're posting on the wrong boards. I looked at your post list, and only 12 are listed. That means the others are on boards that I've got on ignore. I had a quick look at the posts I could see, and half of them seemed to be about the fact that you hadn't picked up any Bitcoin or merit. I suspect you are chasing the free handouts here, and I don't think that is the best way to prioritise your posting.

Which boards Jet Cash? I've only posted maybe 3 or 4 posts about merit out of about 80 or 90 posts...so... not chasing merit through posts about merit. just posting hopefully helpful replies to others posts / questions.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN] [ICO] Suchapp review. ICO just opened on: May 25, 2018, 04:22:24 PM
Suchapp ICO just opened.
Here's one I've been bullish about since the Feb pre-sale. same marketing team as Open platform.
They had a brief moment when 20000 users were on the investor portal but they have got it up and running again with very little delay. With Eth at it's current price SPS is cheap at $0.03 To streamline the crowdsale there is no KYC before purchase for amounts under $10000 (KYC will be after crowdsale)

help a brother out if you are going in on suchapp and use Referral code Ku944Y once inside the investor portal.

"Why I'm going to invest in Suchapp".

There has been some buzz recently as Suchapp gears up to their ICO on the 25th of May. After a rotten Q1 in the crypto market the ico was delayed. Now with the market somewhat recovered the ICO is going to happen and excitement is building. I discovered suchapp in early January and invested in the presale at the end of February after doing some research. What I discovered has convinced me the ICO launch and the App has a lot of promise. In fact, it’s a social media game changer…It’s likely I’ll drop a bit more in at the ICO.

So what do I like about it…quite a lot. Let’s take a quick snapshot of the main features:
• Best-of-Class Messaging with the privacy of the blockchain (take note Facebook)
• live 4-way video conferencing/ group chat with voip
• 4K photo, video, video editing and live filters
• can easily create private or open (public) groups of any size with powerful management capabilities
• location based GPS radar – you can search in your local area, join nearby groups, use when you travel to find activities or like minded individuals or groups nearby. Find B&B’s, hiking trails etc. Or use for marketing your business to promote to people nearby.
• Integrated digital wallet – the first social media app to integrate crypto and the blockchain. Store, shop and transact with Suchapp tokens and any Ethereum based currency
• Powerful Marketing Functionality - reward your fans with customisable loyalty programs using SPS coin.

The best thing is these vast array of functions are being targeted both for business and also personal use. Yes, it doubles as personal social media and a business marketing tool. This is great because along with the personal use cases business’ can easily market themselves and integrate digital currency functions without a lot of technical know how or budget. I see this as a big thing for small to medium sized business and could be huge in the less developed nations of the world.

So how does Suchapp stack up against other social media Apps: It’s really a no brainer. Suchapp buries the competition.
Check out the comparison table image from the suchapp whitepaper.

I can see a lot of users coming to the Party after the Beta App is publically released in July. Some examples might include;
As a social media tool. Families /Friends creating private groups and 4-way chat, 4K Pictures and Video to keep in touch.
Travellers using Suchapp as they roam the world to find out what’s nearby to eat, to do, to see.
Social influencers using groups to market themselves and SPS to create loyalty programs.
Artists creating groups to market their Art /photography /music and selling using the crypto functionality.
Restaurants or other business’ using ‘Radar’ to promote and SPS to create loyalty programs.
Taxi drivers in underdeveloped nations using Suchapp to book fares and get paid through the app in crypto.

Suchapp has all the ingredients to grow huge…All the functionality will likely entice new users and the viral marketing aspect of social media will do the rest. The Suchapp marketing team will also be offering competitions and strategies in the initial stages of release to grow the user base. And as it grows the use and value of the SPS token should grow as well.

ICO Data and useful stuff:
Token name: SP coin (SPS)

Hard cap: $40,000,000.00

Total Supply of SPS Tokens: 2,500,000,000

Projected SPS Tokens for Sale: 1,250,000,000

Projected SPS Tokens for Distribution:1,250,000,000

Accepted Currencies: ETH, BTC, BCH and LTC
The ICO price of each token will be $0.05 (note with the contract and ETH price right now this is $0.03)
19  Other / Meta / Merit where for art thou on: May 25, 2018, 04:03:24 PM
Ive been in the forum for a long time now. I spent a long time just browsing around, reading etc just to see what's happening in the Bitcointalk world while I bought crypto and invested in ico's. I only really started posting on forums in the last few months and have discovered the merit system. I agree it's necessary and a good way to promote good posts however I am still no merit...zero...zilltch...nada.
mmmm I thought, am I doing something wrong? so I read this post :
guide about getting merit by TMAN https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3182178.0
ok I think I tend to come close 'ish' to what he's talking about.
where is the merit? who has this elusive merit? Can someone introduce me to the merit fairy?
I think I'll post more articles.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is going on actually?? on: May 25, 2018, 12:12:16 PM
yeah it's been crazy. My portfolio dropped 30% and as far as I can see there really hasn't been a reason. we are in the wild west and the big players are doing what they will...we just are along for the ride really. I think futures is to blame for a lot of this years bad market. the whales have found in the futures market a way to make even more  money by dropping the market ( for their futures contracts) making a ton and then buying back in over time. then repeating this. What this means is the market is not gaining like it did last year and for me I'm yet to get back to my total $ investment amounts.
merit me if you agree
