why is chinese so dominating huh ?? from global games to crypto, they seem to be the benchmark for all the major products.
Is it because they have a lot of players Huh

High IQ population.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: February 06, 2018, 02:10:45 AM
Wait a moment - am i supposed to reflash my USB drives with the latest SMOS release? I thought it updates itself.

No you're not supposed to have do that, it should update itself. But re-flashing my drive has fixed my problems in the past. And using latest os image insures less things to go wrong with updates and such.
(you really shouldn't pay to much attention to me, I'm just a noob with some crude ideas :p  )

Anyways to the people with rigs suddenly switching to XMR mining, I will quote here someone who actually knows how this thing works, the dev  Grin (from a few pages back)

Hi, Do you see where exactly is the rig mining ?
Is it meaby here ?
https://xmr.nanopool.org/account/43jBkwkiwumbpVPRxB8pTVif58yaKj5745Ub1P9aKWTcZjgivCTdjp9WbwaVe4vUMveKAzAiA4j8xgUi29TpKXpm42kTTCW
Then it would explain this becasue if rig cant connect to simplemining then it will start using default last downloaded config which is XMR.

Also can you check something for me ?
This behavior would be ok if this is new flashed rig and it cant connect to simplemining.net and download new config.
Then it would be using default one which is the account i wrote above.

Can you guys send me email to admin@simplemining.net and answer feq questions ?
Please write from the same email that you are using in simplemining.net
Email subject: Rig XMR config problem
1. Is it new flashed rig and first connection to simplemining ?
2. Was it mining before using your config and then it switched back to default one ?
3. If yes then how this happened ? Did it happened after reboot or while working it just switched to this xmr ?
4. While it is mining into this XMR pool can you login via ssh to this rig and send me output of those commands ?
cat /home/miner/config.json
ls -l /home/miner/config.json
uptime
5. Also please tell me what is this rig name.
6. What motherboard are you using ?
7. Do your rig has assigned public ip address or did you forwarded 22 port to your rig on your router ?

Few users already told me about that issue but it just fixed itself after rig succesfully connected to simplemining.net servers.
When it is new flashed rig and cant connect to simplemining then it will be mining using already written default config which is in deed nanopool xmr mining.
I just want to know if this is the same address and if this happens on only new rigs or on rigs that were mining ok and then just switched to default config ?
It is in deed strange so please send me those information as soon as possible.

Hey,

I´m having this weird problem:

My rig will mine without problems for like 2-3 days and then it just reboots and starts a different miner. In this case Claymore Cryptonote AMD GPU Miner v11.2. It wont change the miner from the SMOS website and not even rebooting the rig manually will change it back to normal. I mine ether and havent used XMR mining at all so it isnt mining for me.

The only way to fix this is to reflash the USB stick. I´m pretty new to this so can someone give me some pointers what could be going on and how to fix this.

Thanks in advance.

I have same problem too i was reflash my ssd, change to pendrive and still just on 1 of my rigs ! can any help us plz !

I thought the dev fixed that problem. I had that issue a few weeks ago, but it has been working fine since the dev patched it.

Have you guys downloaded the latest release before re-flashing your drives?

Uhmm I know people are nagging you about including new miners all the time, but, *cough* any plans of including bminer in smos?   Roll Eyes Grin
I have great results using this miner in win 10.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1060 getting only 15 MH/s on Ethereum?!? on: February 02, 2018, 05:47:07 PM
Mine ZCash with BMiner and tell us your hashrate  Grin

I am waiting for  a few 1060 3gbs to arrive in the mail you see..  Wink
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: February 02, 2018, 12:35:23 AM
My rigs restarted 76 times in the last 24 hours. other 2 rigs are working fine but the one with 12 GPU keeps restarting on alt east 10 minutes interval. what seems to be the issues? i was running it without errors in the last 10 days.

Could be a power/clocking issue?
You could try this. Turn off rig. Then delete that  rig from the rigs list. It will then default to a very low power and clock settings when you start it up. See if it runs stable at that setting. Then adjust clock settings to what you want again.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining earnings are terrible, I'm shutting down for a while on: January 31, 2018, 04:12:31 PM
Instead of shutting down maybe you should sell your cards. The price is very good now.
Maybe keep the 1080ti for gaming?

Then you can come back when prices are better and buy Volta.

Or you can just continue mining and HODL.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining crash coming soon? on: January 30, 2018, 07:39:08 PM
GPU mining crash - Only if crypto prices collapse, or some company manages to create a profitable eth/equi ASIC.
Other than that I don't think there is enough GPU production to cause a collapse. Also if the crypto prices continue to fall, then more and more miners will sell their GPUs to gamers and invest directly in crypto instead.

ASIC mining however may collapse, unless coin values rise. More and more ASICs are sold and miners will continue to mine all the way till they starting losing money on power, and still the people with free electricty will continue to mine until their asic breaks. The Real mining DOOM  Grin
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Samsung going to manufacture ASICs on: January 30, 2018, 07:18:26 PM
I don't like ASICs
-They gobble up electricity(yes I know they are more efficient pr watt but that doesn't help when they skyrocket the difficulty).
-Creates allot of noise and heat making them less attractive for regular people to mine with at home, thereby causing the blockchain to be less de-centralized.
-If mining on their algo becomes unprofitable then they are basically bricks that will be discarded(GPUs are still useful for mining other algos, or for gaming, and other applications).
-Shitty quality(or so I've read)
-One company basically have monopoly and can threaten security on blockchain.
-Insane price gouging.

Always power GPU and its riser from same PSU.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How often do your Rigs restart or crash? on: January 30, 2018, 03:40:07 PM
Restarts once every hour on average on my only dedicated rig Grin

It's been pulling 650-660 watts from wall on a 750 gold PSU, so maybe that could be the culprit. I reduced power target after reading the posts above. Now pulling 610 watts, we'll see how that works out.

13,5 hours and still no crash yet.. Wow could it be that simple. I was certain it was the risers, and was going to change and test every riser to see if that was the problem.

This thread can have saved me allot of headache  Cheesy

My gaming/mining rig is very stable though, but that's only two GPU's and no risers ..
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Gold : Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again on: January 29, 2018, 03:20:05 PM
Due to demand from our community we have added BTG back to MinerTopia under the new name Dpool

You can mine BTG with us for 0.2% Pool fee only

https://btg.dpool.io

Come mine with us.

Why is nobody mining here  Huh
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 750W PSU use How many 1070 GpU on: January 29, 2018, 02:58:41 PM
4-5 on reduced power target(recommended).
3 on full power.

Amazing miner so far. Got a 5.5% increase in sol/s on 1080TI, and temp dropped by 1C  Shocked
Big thumbs up  Cheesy

No I don't use 2fa, didn't know that was possible..  Roll Eyes

Anyways after reflashing my pendrive the rig is up and running again.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: January 26, 2018, 01:43:59 PM
So my rig stopped mining, and it seemed to have nothing to do with the server being down.

I decided to hook a monitor to my rig to see if could find out anything. And after booting the SMOS displays this message over and over "There is no screen attached matching miner".
Any ideas what this really means?
Mostly it means that system cant find any GPU or process didnt started.
IF you have one gpu then check if it is connected, meaby something unplugged ?
Or it could be problem with riser.
You can enter command: lspci
that will list your devices. Check if you will see AMD or NVIDIA there.

Thx for answer.
I tried different risers/cards, and tried running only 1 card to, with the same result.
I also booted on an Ubuntu pendrive and checked lspci command, and GPU shows up. Monitor is connected through GPU to, all works fine.

It's strange. The rig had been working fine for weeks, until I decided to reduce power limit to the same as my Win 10 rig with similar Nvidia 1070TI gpus, then it started acting strange with sudden adjustments to core clocks causing the rig to sometimes freeze(I posted about this a page or two back). It could be running perfectly fine for a few hours, then it suddenly clocked up by itself and froze.

Could it be something wrong with the SMOS config causing it to not start up properly? Perhaps I should do a fresh install on pendrive again.

edit: Re installing/flashing OS to pendrive fixed it. Woohoo.

Ok this is getting weird. Am I getting hacked or what is going on  Huh

After reflashing SMOS my miner was perfectly stable for 2 days mining zCash.
But suddenly I saw it stop reporting to pool again and I check simplemining.net to see what's going on.
There it says it's mining cryptonight algo  Huh in the console, and the core clocks have been adjusted up a bit.
Changing rig group settings and overclocking settings have no effect now and rebooting(cold boot) does not help.

I'm reflashing OS to pendrive again to see if it helps again  Tongue
