How about just setting virtual memory to the max. Works like a charm for me.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 4x 1660 super or RTX3090 on: February 12, 2021, 03:48:24 PM
Both are good, if you are going for RTX3090 make sure you buy better brands with three fans and good thermal pads tweaks, you can watch youtube videos about best RTX3090 cards available on the market, I just find the 1660 Ti and super to be extremely quiet and cool

LOL if you pack 1660ti together they ain't cool no more and you can add the trouble of managing 4 pieces of them.

go for 3090..what is this bull market for?
It's not hard to manage 4 GPUs at all, I have 6x 1660 supers and they mine at 31mh each at 54°C per one, they are all Zotac brand with just two fans, try getting that temp on a RTX3090 and you will be the difference

if 4 GPUs (1 rig) is all you have then i agree that they are not hard to manage, if you have 10 rigs (or more) of then you will understand why. hehe

Managing 10rigs of 12gpus is not hard at all. Just make sure you standardize the motherboards, and label the gpus with its pci bus number.

Hello,

If I build 8 pcs 1660S Rig, how much Watt of Power supply I needed to buy?
I can buy 1 big Power Supply / 2 small Power Supplies.

Moreover, my country's 1660S price is about $320 per card.  Is it good to buy them building a Rig?

my 8x1660s is drawing under 700W. It would run very comfortably on a 1kw psu, so 2x 550w would work

Just want to share something here phil

I was using windows 10 for mining, since ever, only tried mining os for a few times, but always got back to windows
But last week my system started to crash without any reason, it was working 24/7 without any issue

Rig with: 5600xt, 5700, 5700xt, 3070 and 1660super
I made everything i recommend to people  Cheesy - drivers, card position on mobo, risers, cables etc

But now I decided to gave a chance to HiveOS, put on an SSD, configured on website and voila, my system are now stable for some days, without any issue, it's just hard to undestand the overclock on linux coming from windows, but it's really good to have everything stable again

Maybe I'll try simplemining on my secondary rig

I suspect windows 10 updates messed with my miners, and this is annoying because I blocked everything, but windows always find his ways to update  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

hiveos (and probably other linux based os) is hands down better than windows at running amd rigs. My amd rigs go down maybe once a week but hiveos always reboots and recovers. Sometimes on windows, the whole system freezes at the bsod and you have to manually reset it

Unless i have misunderstood you, and that the board powers a couple of slots off of the atx connector, you just plug in cables from your server psu. You dont use the pico to power any pcie. Infact it doesnt have a pcie output. The one in the pic is for 12v input - not an output.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rejected shares rising in number on: February 12, 2021, 10:42:50 AM
my rejected shares with nicehash was always around 2-3% regardless of the server location. It is now <0.5% after switching over to hiveon.
Hiveon only runs on OS I believe, there is no windows software version, I can't use any mining OS because of internet connection, I use my phone wifi hotspot and I'm sure hiveOS or other won't detect it unless I drive the drivers which isn't possible on these mining OS

hiveon is a pool - it does not matter what os/software you are using

hiveos allows you to run 4 rigs for free if you mine to hiveon pool

These pico psu are powered by server power supplies. So they can be use for riserless motherboards.

i use these pico atx with pcie inputs

but the parallelminer ones will make it look much cleaner.

I would get whichever one is available. If both are available, i would get the 1660supers.
With a motherboard like this:
you could pack 8 of them, remove the fans on the gpu and use 3 120mm fans to push through the heatsink
Just because this motherboard have 8x pcie slots doesn't mean its good for 8 graphic cards

1. Graphic cards are of different sizes, they might not sit well side by side, some are giant and some are bulky and fat

2. The space between the slots are not enough, even if you insert slim gpus the heat will be much, the highest I can put on that motherboard is just 4 pieces of graphics card for better air flow and less heat

This motherboard has 8x pcie slots, and it's good for 8 gpus. With these type of motherboards you need to be selective with the gpus you get. The fins of the heatsink needs to be horizontal, and you need to have very small spacing between the cards. Yes small spacing, so ideal cards will be 2.5 slot gpus with horizontal fins and you must remove the stock fans. Check out red panda's recent video of server case builds.

Managed to get my hands on a few 3090FE only to realise the cooling, while interesting looking, is not as good as the cheapest aib i have.
So i decided to mod it  Cheesy
https://i.imgur.com/fq0TNAK.jpg

dropped temps from 110C to 84C. I'm now able to drop fan speed to 50% and removed the fan on the backplate. The heatsink still gets burning hot, so i might need to create a shroud on the rear fan and channel it through the heatsink.

fwiw, heatsink used is an led/amplifier aluminium heatsink, 200mmx86x22. I used cheap arctic 1.5mm thermal pads to clear the hump on the backplate

it will be interesting to see how much of the hashrate were from asics once eth goes POS. There is a chance GPU mining might still be viable, but i wouldn't bet on it.

did you check whether your ram is compatible with the motherboard?

When setting up my asus b250 mining expert, there were a couple of dimms (i can't remember what the model was, but one was a gskill and another was a crucial 2400) that refused to work with it, but worked fine with other motherboards.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RTX 3070 - overclock parameters and results. on: January 20, 2021, 11:54:40 PM
By using voltage, you get the lowest PL limit before throttling. You would be able to achieve this using PL, however you'd have to change the value bit by bit to get to the same point. Also, different cards will require different PL limit.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RTX 3070 - overclock parameters and results. on: January 20, 2021, 09:37:45 PM
Limit power by using voltage - reduce it until the memory drops to 5000mhz, then bump it back up
My 3070s are doing 750mV, -500 core +1450 mem for 63.5MH/s @ 135W atw

Hi Patrike,

Could you please add the new excavator? It is pretty decent
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining using the mechanical power to produce electricity on: January 17, 2021, 09:33:49 PM
Then there's the power to food ratio,

1 hamster costs about $50/year to feed so .14 per day. Multiply that by 1000 and you will be paying $140 per day in food.

What's the ROI on that?

I train on a bike at home everyday for a couple of hours. If i could get the bike to feed into the grid, it should be enough to power a 3080  Grin

I've stopped deceiving myself, I don't think the POS will ever happen because majority of miners out there are mining Ethereum, just imagine what could happen if that stops, Vitalik don't know what he is doing I bet, maybe he already realize that Ethereum truly belongs to POW algo

me too, i have a feeling POS is a step in the WRONG direction !!....
Don't mind that vitalik buterin, this isn't the first time they will rant about POS on Ethereum network, it's been years already and nothing happened, if truly Ethereum is going to POS algo why are they planning to implement EIP-1559 again? These guys are a joke

The purpose of eip1559 is a stop hap measure to deal with the high gas fees. It isnt that bad for simple transactions, but it is very high when interacting with smart contracts.

IMO if eip 1559 or pos does bring down gas fees, i completely support it even though i am a miner myself. If you havent already, try out defi - it is a game changer
