Steam should research some Alt Coins to use for their platform, BTC is way too expensive!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steam is no longer supporting Bitcoin
6 DECEMBER, 2017   - KURTIS
As of today, Steam will no longer support Bitcoin as a payment method on our platform due to high fees and volatility in the value of Bitcoin.

In the past few months we've seen an increase in the volatility in the value of Bitcoin and a significant increase in the fees to process transactions on the Bitcoin network. For example, transaction fees that are charged to the customer by the Bitcoin network have skyrocketed this year, topping out at close to $20 a transaction last week (compared to roughly $0.20 when we initially enabled Bitcoin). Unfortunately, Valve has no control over the amount of the fee. These fees result in unreasonably high costs for purchasing games when paying with Bitcoin. The high transaction fees cause even greater problems when the value of Bitcoin itself drops dramatically.

Historically, the value of Bitcoin has been volatile, but the degree of volatility has become extreme in the last few months, losing as much as 25% in value over a period of days. This creates a problem for customers trying to purchase games with Bitcoin. When checking out on Steam, a customer will transfer x amount of Bitcoin for the cost of the game, plus y amount of Bitcoin to cover the transaction fee charged by the Bitcoin network. The value of Bitcoin is only guaranteed for a certain period of time so if the transaction doesn’t complete within that window of time, then the amount of Bitcoin needed to cover the transaction can change. The amount it can change has been increasing recently to a point where it can be significantly different.

The normal resolution for this is to either refund the original payment to the user, or ask the user to transfer additional funds to cover the remaining balance. In both these cases, the user is hit with the Bitcoin network transaction fee again. This year, we’ve seen increasing number of customers get into this state. With the transaction fee being so high right now, it is not feasible to refund or ask the customer to transfer the missing balance (which itself runs the risk of underpayment again, depending on how much the value of Bitcoin changes while the Bitcoin network processes the additional transfer).

At this point, it has become untenable to support Bitcoin as a payment option. We may re-evaluate whether Bitcoin makes sense for us and for the Steam community at a later date.

We will continue working to resolve any pending issues for customers who are impacted by existing underpayments or transaction fees.

I mean, Cryptocurrency and gaming is probably the most obvious thing that was gonna happen. People using clickandbuy and paypal for decades for their ingame purchases. So paying with your cryptowallet would be the smallest step a gamer could make =)

I believe that some platforms are testing with cryptocurrencys. I believe that Steam already is.
But with stuff like https://webapp.tenx.tech/dashboard already coming you can use that for online gaming payments.

Hello and welcome to the world of cryptostuff! Cheesy

First of all the wallet, if you are actually planning to buy the Ledger Nano S once it's in stock again, you can always keep your XRP or other Altcoins on the exchange.
If you don't like the idea of your coins sitting on an exchange you can try multiple online wallets.
I believe that Electrum  wallet can hold XRP but im not sure.
Another good wallet is Coinomi, it does not hold XRP but it has a large amount of Alt coins that it supports.

Exchanges are a difficult one with all the signups closed indeed. I have been using HitBTC a long time and was pretty pleased with it. Had some issues with withdrawals and stuff but i never lost anything so that's good.
If you want to know what exchange has the coins you are looking for you should check out http://www.coinmarketcap.com . You search your coin/token there and then click on the "markets" tab. There you find a list of all the exchanges that support that coin.

And buying BTC and trading that to Alt coins is probably the expensive way with all the transaction fees going on for BTC. You should try and find a site where they sell the Alt Coins for your dollars/euros, saves you an extra transaction/exchange.

If my words make no sense to you, wich is possible because i sometimes make no sense, just send me an email at mariohocks1988@gmail.com or add me on Discord Novais#0536 .
Or don't and listen to other people's advice on the forum  Kiss

Cheers!

7  Other / Beginners & Help / Cryptonator support anyone? on: January 14, 2018, 10:02:45 AM
Was wondering if anyone has had contact with Cryptonator support in the past month or so.
At the end of last year i sent a Doge transaction to my Doge wallet wich then automatically exchanges for XMR. The transaction is confirmed in the blockchain and is also spent, probably to the exchange.
https://dogechain.info/tx/88647d2d6cd396a8c7aeec362c67b36a093f9eb59364d84dc51b723f5a79f046
The 9002 coin transfer that is

On my cryptonator account i see nothing. Not in my Dogecoin wallet, nor in my XMR wallet. Not even any activity in the activity log.

If anyone got some other way to get in touch with this support, since they haven't responded to any support tickets or anything on facebook, twitter etc.

Would appreciate the advice thanks!

12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you know about Crypto? on: January 13, 2018, 03:51:27 PM
My first introduction with cryptocurrency is actually a bad story to tell as a "Newbie" on this forum. In my defense, it was a long time ago and i was still irresponsible!  Roll Eyes
So i wanted to buy some drugs from the internet (yeap here we go). Buying on this specific website was only possible trough Bitcoin (like the well known SilkRoad). So i learned how to buy Bitcoins and spend them, using Blockchain wallet. After a very long time i logged into Blockchain again for some reason and when looking at my transaction history i could see the value of the Bitcoins then and now. Seeing this massive increase caught my attention and from that point i started reading about bitcoin, learning about hardforks that were going on at that moment, understanding altcoins and ICO's.
And now i am here, hooked to my computer, crypto everywhere  Cheesy

And by the way, not buying drugs with my coins!! I SWEAR!! Cool

Genesis did not confirm that Omnia have a partnership with them...I could't send you any PM because you are a newbie.

Oh damn, i really need to read these forum rules before posting. I am really an inpatient person these days  Roll Eyes

And you are right ineed.
Source https://bitcoinexchangeguide.com/omnia-tech/
"The company has “partnered” with Genesis Mining (although basically, it seems Omnia Tech just uses your money to purchase Genesis Mining contracts; there’s no evidence that Genesis Mining knows Omnia Tech exists)."

And Genisis Mining wrote this:
We received a few inquiries about Omnia recently. We hear that they are still using our brand name in presentations, however, they have never purchased equipment from us after their launch. Omnia has been asked to delete all references to GM. Thank you.

So this makes things a little shady.
And i can not deny the other replies in this post, it's way better to invest in trading since cloud mining gives very little profit.
Altough i have some mining contracts running on Minergate and i think the profit is starting soon.
I invested about 200 dollars in XMR contracts, and have been reinvesting all income in more contracts.
Right now making 3 dollars a day. Once i go above 5 dollars a day i start to withdraw a little part of the income every week.

I find the Telegram app to be very usefull. Find a subject/platform/coin you are interrested in and see if they have a Telegram group going on. Join in and get in touch with the community there.

When u use the word "Bitcoin", do you just mean Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency too?
Because earning the real Bitcoin can be a rough start while investing in some small altcoins can give much more profit when starting with small investments.
Take a look at http://www.coinmarketcap.com, here you can find all altcoins and tokens that are registered. You can find a link to their website and see what exchange they can be traded on.
You can go and buy some cheap altcoins and just let them sit in a wallet while hopefully they increase in value  Grin
You can search for platforms to invest in lending contracts like Bitconnect, Octoin, Lendconnect. Can make you some good profit.
And you can invest a few thousand hard earn dollars/euros to get a mining computer and mine your own bitcoins/altcoins.

Need some more advice just gimme a PM =)

Good luck in making Bitcoins!

Hmm as far as i can see there isn't anything wrong with this companie. And then they are partners with Genesis Mining, wich is a good sign in my eyes.
But depending on how much you wanna invest and if you are new to this, there are plenty of other platforms where you can try and test some cloud mining contracts. Some even for short term contracts.
If you want more info send me a PM and i'll try and give you some advice.

+1 voor MyEtherWallet.
Als je chrome gebruikt kun je ook nog MetaMask extension downloaden voor MEW.

Instucties vind je hier:
https://myetherwallet.github.io/knowledge-base/migration/moving-from-private-key-to-metamask.html
