6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] | Introducing ELASTOS | Future of Decentralized Internet on: July 01, 2018, 06:32:37 PM
Elastos DID will go live on July 1st

Quote
Dear Elastos Community,

The Elastos development team plans to upgrade the Elastos main chain on July 1, 2018, from 1:00 to 6:00am UTC Time. During the upgrade, Elastos wallets and blockchain browsers will not work properly.

This upgrade mainly includes the following:

  • Support assets transfers from the main chain to sidechains
  • Support assets transfers from the sidechains to the main chain
  • Support sidechains to merge mine through the main chain

After the main chain is upgraded, the arbitrator nodes and the ID chain nodes that exist as a sidechain will be implemented immediately. Through these newly deployed nodes, the following can be done:

  • Support assets transfer from main chain to ID sidechain
  • Create ID and store ID related information on ID sidechain
  • Transfer assets from ID sidechain back to the main chain
  • Support ID chain to merge mine with main chain.

9  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin project. Can someone point me in the right direction? on: May 18, 2017, 05:18:41 AM
Hello, I am seeking some advice. I am searching for some funding on one of my apps. React Native app with a Blockchain and crypto focus. Any ideas on some good BTC lending companies to get some community funding? Or anyone here have the desire to aid with the development? Currently in need of a backend engineer for some integration help. Thanks!

Its not going to be easy to get funding especially for a new user like yourself. There are some threads of people who are loaning BTC out but I would suggest you check out http://btcjam.com. I spent quite a bit of time on that website loaning people money and getting the interest back. I wish you the best of luck with your new project.  Smiley

unfortunately they won't accept my region Sad

Are you still in the lending business?

I never knew BTCJam had region restrictions. I am in Africa and it works in my area (probably not in Nigeria lol). Anyway, there are users who loan BTC here on this forum. Just keep a look out for them but I think you need to use something as collateral in order to get a loan. Worth a try though, I think?
10  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New design needed for a new era! on: May 18, 2017, 05:16:12 AM
Are you planning to charge people for your services? Also, what are your rates? Do you take bitcoin payments or how does it work? Sorry for so many questions, Im just looking for more information about this.

Yes, I'd take bitcoin payments, or shares in other coins that I see potential.

Since I am new around here - not very convenient to post my full working portfolio - I'd start with very reasonable rates. Yesterday had my first customer for a logo and charged him $10 in btc despite making multiple versions and changes.

I believe I am most qualified in branding, which is something most coins lack and I'd love to put my work into it.

Thanks for all the information. I would like to see your portfolio. It seems like your prices are really decent so if your work is good then I will definitely bookmark this post for future use.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ZNG - ZenGold on: May 18, 2017, 05:13:31 AM
Do you have a website or more information possibly? Is this an Altcoin or what is it? I will be following the progress of this.

Hello,
Thank you for getting interested!
We will make our webpage available to public with whitepaper and keep you updated

Awesome I am looking forward to seeing what it's all about. Do you know when the website will be available and what the initial cost of the currency will be?
12  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to find an investor for my project? on: May 17, 2017, 03:18:46 PM
My apologies but I have no idea what this website / project is about. I went onto the website but there is hardly any information and I cant read the text that is written in another language. I would love to learn more about this project so I can provide a more informed reply to your request.

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why is taking so long the confirmations? on: May 17, 2017, 10:56:08 AM
The default fee that the blockchain recommends is usually too low to make the transaction instant. I am sitting with the same problem. I have 3 transactions that have been pending for the last few days now. Its annoying but the fees are getting so high now that its not worth raising the fee if you are only transferring a small amount. This is one of the big weaknesses of Bitcoin right now.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This could be big: US Government considering accepting bitcoin payment on: May 17, 2017, 06:04:13 AM
Homeland Security's US Citizenship and Immigration is now considering accepting bitcoin payment for US Visa application/payment fees

the documents from USCIS.gov website reads:
"USCIS is currently considering issues involving virtual currency such as Bitcoin." related to "the use of bitcoin to transfer investment funds to the new commercial enterprise".

http://www.coindesk.com/us-officials-weigh-bitcoin-payments-eb-5-visa-program/

This could be huge for Bitcoin if they actually start doing it. I just have 1 question though. Is it viable for the US Government? It seems that with the volatility of Bitcoin it won't actually be a viable option to use as a form of payment. Correct me if I am wrong here guys.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Coin Cap on: May 17, 2017, 05:56:49 AM
Hello everyone. I am quite new to Bitcoin, yet I do understand the basics.

Welcome to the world of Bitcoin. This is an exciting place and there is potential to make a lot of money. Please be careful though there are a lot of scammers out there and if they get their hands on your coins there is no way to get them back. Be very wary when buying or selling coins and make sure you use an exchange or a trusted Escrow service. There are a few on this forum as far as I know.

One of the questions I would like to be clarified is how the Bitcoin 'coins' are capped off at 21 million? What stops a hacker from just randomly creating new coins?

The network is protected against this kind of behavior. It controls the flow of coins. As @pooya87 said, the network will just reject any new coins created by hackers. The only way they can do it successfully is by creating their own altcoin but that comes with its own set of problems and without trusted backing its not likely to gain any traction.

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RANSOMWARE impact on: May 17, 2017, 05:44:31 AM
With all the problems this Ransomware has caused, it has given Bitcoin a lot of exposure. Yes its in a bad light but we all know there is no such thing as bad exposure. the last 5 days I have heard the word Bitcoin on radio and TV more than ever before. A lot of people who don't know about it are now asking questions and doing research. Its growing in popularity especially in developing countries where its not so well known.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In what situation would Bitcoin die? on: May 17, 2017, 05:40:24 AM
I think the outrageous transaction costs and the slow transfer times is causing serious harm to Bitcoin. I don't think it could possibly die but its flaws are starting to become obvious. There might be room for another coin to take over if this gets worse

This is not a big issue so far

At least, not as big as it could be in the future and not a big issue as long as Bitcoin price continues to increase. Indeed, you can claim that the price might have been a lot higher if not for these drawbacks and shortcomings, and I will likely agree with you (if only purely hypothetically). In practice, though, we have what we have and changing things (which could be construed as directed toward fixing these issues) might (potentially) cause new problems, perhaps even more severe, and then you would be happy that you stayed with "old" Bitcoin. At least, as long as its price continued to rise

I honestly disagree. I think its fast becoming a big issue. One of the things that made Bitcoin great was the instantaneous transactions. I have been waiting 2 days already for my tiny little transaction to go from my wallet to an exchange. I already paid $0.78 for that transaction, It wouldn't be worth it for me to pay more. So now I have to sit and wait 3 days for my money to transfer. That's slower and more expensive than a bank... Sad
