Has anyone heard, or does anyone know who/what took place earlier this am. https://bitinfocharts.com/litecoin/ is reporting a $314,000,000 transaction in LTC early this am EST (2,244,655 litecoins)
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / A3 with L 3 firmware on: March 04, 2018, 05:41:30 PM
I was having a problem with one of my A3’s. I tried everything to get it hashing. Last resort was to backup another one and reload the non-working one’s firmware with the backup from a working unit. Could never get unit to flash green, and deep in the logs I noticed some problem with one of the fans so I replaced it. Booted it up and now I am flashing green, but NO hashing. I looked at system tab and.... what? It says it has L3 firmware. I tried flashing with a new A3 backup from another working unit, and it completes the process. I look back at system tab and wtf, it still shows having L3 firmware. Anyone have any thoughts on how to resolve this issue?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer A3 earning $500 a day mining SIAcoin . .WHAT?! Results & Stats on: March 04, 2018, 05:34:37 PM
I'm in it for the long haul on the A3, and don't like the temps getting above 80 degrees. Has anybody had any luck underclocking these to a decent level? I cant seem to keep the temp below 80 despite max fan speed.

In a nice cold garage btw

I’ve tried everything and best I can get them is running in low to mid 70’s but they average near 80 each day as I have to shut down some air flow at night.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: siamining.com with Antminer A3 Hashrate Dropping Dramatically on: February 20, 2018, 09:05:19 AM
My machines keep flashing red until I reboot them. We’re working flawlessly until now. Something weird going on in the siamining pool in my opinion.

Gotcha. Well, when you are ready let me know. I am setting up a hosting site for myself and a few other people as we will be able to get power at 0.05 cents per kw if we band together and pull our resources together. I would be interested in picking up a few more units.

I am also in FL. PM me with details, I might be interested in abondoning my search for a site and come on board. I have 106 miners coming

Just moved my machines over to Kano. I was looking through the pool stats, why did the PH rate nosedive in November? Many people must have left the pool or one really big user.

I’ve read it could be Q1 2018, but this article seems to be the most up to speed.
It indicates sometime this year.

What can you mine with those now that etherium mining is going away?

For the current difficulty period the network is through ~82% of blocks in ~73% target period

At current rate next difficulty estimate :     2 160 024 151 004    11.85%    18/01/13 12:06
For the current difficulty period the network is through ~91% of blocks in ~79% target period

At current rate next difficulty estimate :     2 184 039 845 865    13.10%    18/01/13 07:56

Difficulty change in ~24hours

Given the average rate over the past month or so, we are going to be approaching a difficulty number with a 5 handle, from its current 2 handle.

This will absolutely crush even the Antminer S9 profitability unless bitcoin doubles or more from here.
This is the single biggest issue I see in mining now.

When I first decided to buy the Antminer S9 in late November, I noted that slushpool had about 48,000 workers (Early Dec.), I will be getting my miners shortly, but now slushpool has almost 74,000 workers and in the next two months that's probably going much higher. And I'm sure its the same at every pool, including Kano which I'm likely to be joining. But I can't see how these miners stay profitable past July-Aug at current rate of increase of mining machines and difficulty.

What are you long term miner's thoughts on this subject?

I have read in some posts that there is quite a bit of time wasted between when you point your miners to the Kano pool and when they actually begin mining. Is this true? If so why is that?

Uh, no.  When you are mining you are mining.  Care to elaborate on what exactly your talking about? Or are we supposed to play the guessing game as to what your talking about?  I never liked charades.  Smiley

I've read in numerous posts, that anywhere from 24 hrs to over a week before you begin getting credited any BTC.

One excerpt I had saved..

Quote
However, unlike Kano's pool, there is no 'unpaid dust' on ckpool.  Kano's pool has a ramping up time period he calls 'dust mining'.  In three years, he has not paid out that dust to most of the people mining it.

So, is this true? How long is this dust mining period? I also have read that if you have low hash rate you are not getting the same payout rate as those with large hashrate (on a per TH basis)

12  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 hash board failing on: January 07, 2018, 01:44:58 AM
Looks like the board is overheating.

These boards run over 110c, I would not call 82c anywhere close to overheating nor is it anywhere near the shutoff temp built into the firmware.

When you say "These boards..." are you talking about the board temperature being 110 degrees, or the chip temperatures?
Awesome miner shows , one unit for example, running at 70 deg C, but the chips are running 83/72/78.

Is it okay for these chip temperatures to be in the 80's? Do lower temps increase unit life?
Doesnt the firmware have a 90 degree unit shutdown?
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Firmware for S9 November Batch on: January 07, 2018, 01:36:33 AM
There are a ton of reasons to flash the firmware. They wouldnt put it out if there were not improvements being made.

For some reason there are a bunch of people on this forum that think flashing firmware is dangerous. I have literally flashed ten thousand plus bitmain units and have never bricked a machine with a firmware update. Im betting that a lot of people flashed incorrect firmware because they are too impatient to confirm they are using the correct one and blamed bitmain instead of their own incompetence.

If you are receiving machines from the November batch they will most likely already have the most current firmware. I have even received some that had newer firmware than what is offered on the bitmain support site so the chances are you wont need to update yours.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Where can one get the November or December firmware?
Bitmain's site has Apr 2017 as latest version.
14  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Genernal water coolling solution for AntMiner S9 S7 D3 L3+ , Pangolin M3 on: January 04, 2018, 10:31:49 PM
As with most concepts, the theory is good, the reality isn't. Water is the mortal enemy of these units. In an industrial setting, this concept is totally impractical and down right fatal to the business if one mistake causes water to get everywhere. Every board that gets touched with water is bricked and your investment is down the toilet. Air flow is how these units were meant to operate.
15  Bitcoin / Mining support / Antminer S9 fan types on: January 04, 2018, 01:05:53 AM
Are the intake and exhaust fan the same specs? I want to have some a spare fan for each. I took them off they look a bit different, but I only see one type of replacement fan on ebay and amazon, and Bitmains site as well.
16  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 status page questions on: January 02, 2018, 08:51:11 PM
Thank you.

Where would one find the November firmware for the S9, the only firmware I see around is the Blissz firmware for the D3 from November 2017?
17  Bitcoin / Mining support / Antminer S9 status page questions on: January 02, 2018, 12:32:19 PM
A few questions on the Antminer S9 status page

Three questions on the image above.

1. Why does Chain #6 chip always have a 50+ times hardware error rate than the other 2 chips, which always seem to have same number of HW's?

2. Which fan is the intake, Fan 3 or 6. Iwould assume fan 6 since intake is probably running slower than exhaust?

3. I had to upgrade firmware from Bitmain on this unit. Which was Apr 2017 version, is that the latest? Because I notice my chips are running approximately 10 deg hotter and my fan speeds are not changing and running 1000 rpm lower than they were before (likely the chip temperature rise reason) How can I get my fan speeds back up?

I see someone in this thread said ~6400 cfm per Antminer S9? The stated rate is 220CFM, which is correct?
19  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer Monitor on: December 15, 2017, 09:50:32 PM
I already have Python 3.6.3 installed on my PC as I am starting to learn Python (Went from VB.net to C#, now trying to learn Python and C++). I saw your antminer monitor, looks great and I'd love to use it as i run a bunch of S9's and L3's.

Will it work on 3.6.3? I see you spec 2.7.3?

I'd love some help getting it installed and configured once I know if my Python version is good.
