8  Economy / Speculation / Re: CRASH! on: June 30, 2011, 10:43:21 PM
It's just a few impatient people getting out of bitcoins. They sold for a ridiculously low price for absolutely no reason at 15.9. Even though they could have sold at like ~16.7.

you might be right, it's back up.

but why would one do this? wouldn't it be easier to just sell in small amounts? plus considering the fact that almost all methods of withdrawing money from mtgox are delayed by days, this is just stupid.
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: CRASH! on: June 30, 2011, 10:39:31 PM
it doesn't update anymore ?  it seems to be stuck at 15.73
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: CRASH! on: June 30, 2011, 10:36:04 PM
saw this also, a few minutes ago

MtGox is down almost $1 in the last few minutes!  Go buy!

HOLY CRAP, BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY!

they'll just reset the accounts back to before the crash

15.7

haha, can't believe this is happening again.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cracked Passwords List Leaked, were you cracked? on: June 29, 2011, 08:56:04 PM
my very simple password (6 numbers +username) wasn't in the list, so I believe that this list comes from phishing/key logging or something like that. I changed ALL my passwords to random characters after Mt.Gox got hacked (had planned it for a long time, but never got around to it), before this I was using the about 3 passwords for everything.

I would also check https://shouldichangemypassword.com/ It correctly reports I've hade my password compromised once on June 19, 2011. I got an email from Chase about my account on June 20, so it seems pretty accurate.

I asked it if the following passwords had been compromised and it told me they were safe.

- password
- password1
- password123
- p@ssw0rd
- P@ssw0rd
- love
- hackers
- superman

In https://shouldichangemypassword.com/  you should input the e-mail, not the password BUT they seem to have blacklisted the whole list from mtgox. I tried bulks of 10 from around the list, and they are all listed as "hacked"
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: question: Withdrawing cash from mt.Gox in the UK on: June 26, 2011, 06:02:17 PM
thanks. Now I only need to wait for trading to reopen so I can exchange my $ into BTC. Smiley
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / question: Withdrawing cash from mt.Gox in the UK on: June 26, 2011, 05:41:57 PM
quick question: If my bank account is in GBP, can I withdraw from mtgox using my IBAN and BIC? or do I need to have an account in euros?

or what is the best way of withdrawing cash from Mt.Gox if you live in the UK?

I don't have a lot of money but I ask because I have never withdrawn before.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / possible fix: "The password for this account is invalid, or this acc.." on: June 22, 2011, 11:48:11 AM
On Mt.Gox Claim site
The password for this account is invalid, or this account is not currently under claim process.

I was getting this since yesterday morning.

Basically, THE NEW PASSWORD IS TOO SHORT.

I was using a 15 character new password and I was getting this error. Today, after trying a few times,it hit me, and I used a 28 character "new password" and it worked with no problems.
at least this worked for me.

I posted this in another thread but I thought I should make a new one for people to see, because I see many people screaming about it.

edit: I am 100% sure that I was entering the right "old" password the first 100 times I tried, but I was always using a new password of 15 or shorter. the first time I tried with a long password, it worked.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: MtGox claim site online on: June 22, 2011, 11:41:13 AM
I FIXED "The password for this account is invalid, or this account is not currently under claim process."

They are referring to the new password, at least I think so, because I was using a 15 character "new password" and I was getting this, but then I used a 28 character one, and I was able to go to step 2!!!!
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Reality Check!] Strong Indication MtGox Is Packing Up to Run w/ Money and BTC? on: June 21, 2011, 09:21:14 PM
the only way they could do it is if they get emergency plastic surgery, make them self look Asian, because all Asians look the same, and we won't be able to distinguish them.
17  Economy / Economics / Re: MtGox claim site online on: June 21, 2011, 07:28:43 PM
Is mtgox under dos attacks or are there simply too many of us trying to connect? Probably the latter because it doesn't actually work and many people try again and again (like me, in the morning). Last time I was able to try I was still getting

"The password for this account is invalid, or this account is not currently under claim process."

And I had a fairly long and good password, I doubt somebody had the time to crack it, and it was "salted" (not an idle account)
so what does or this account is not currently under claim process. mean, anyway??

18  Economy / Economics / Re: MtGox claim site online on: June 21, 2011, 05:14:27 PM
mine also says "The password for this account is invalid, or this account is not currently under claim process."

I've been waiting since last night to log in, slept only 4 hours, WTF?
19  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (500Ghash/s) on: May 26, 2011, 11:31:55 PM
I've been getting a lot of

Listener for "Default": 26/05/2011 23:25:41, Unknown login xxxx.xxxx
Listener for "Default": 26/05/2011 23:25:42, Unknown login xxxx.xxxx
Listener for "Default": 26/05/2011 23:25:43, Unknown login xxxx.xxxx
Listener for "Default": 27/05/2011 00:23:06, Problems communicating with bitcoin RPC

for about two minutes and then it worked

Also is it bad that I kinda randomly stop my miner when I need the GPU? Does it hurt others in some way?
20  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (390Ghash/s) on: May 24, 2011, 10:36:26 AM
hmm..slush must be fscking around with the server cause it keeps on going "down for maintenance"...

wonder if this is the planned long polling upgrade...

I don't think so... this is the 3rd day when the server drops at around this same hour. It will pick up in half an hour or so. slush said he will ask the provider what's going on. Hope he finds out.
