quick question: If my bank account is in GBP, can I withdraw from mtgox using my IBAN and BIC? or do I need to have an account in euros?

or what is the best way of withdrawing cash from Mt.Gox if you live in the UK?

I don't have a lot of money but I ask because I have never withdrawn before.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Open an account at britcoin.co.uk. Withdraw BTC from Mt Gox and deposit them to Britcoin. Exchange $-->BTC and BTC-->£ as needed.

Then withdraw £ directly from Britcoin with a UK bank transfer.

Note that Mt Gox has 100x the volume of trading that Britcoin has, so the exchange rate is usually a bit better at Mt Gox.

But I've found Britcoin usually works just fine, with the above proviso.
