1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner & MobileMiner: Your Coins. Your Pools. Your way. Win/Mac/nix/Mobl/Ava on: September 24, 2013, 12:51:58 PM
So I decided to try using MultiMiner, however when I go into to add coins, after I put in the Host/port/username/pass for any other coin outside of Bitcoin, I can't hit okay or do anything.  Any help on why I can't put in coins other then bitcoins?

First I've heard of that. Can you make a video of it using Jing (or something similar)?

I got it figured out.  For some reason if I tried to add more then one coin at a time, it would freeze up?  But if I added one at a time and then hit OK and then went back and added another it worked fine.  It's probably more of a problem with my system, it's quite old.  Thanks for offering the help though!

And, I just wanted to say thank you.  I'm only mining with 9 USB Erupters pretty much just as a hobby, and for some reason I'm getting about 200 Mh/s faster using MultiMiner then I was just using BFGMiner on it's own.  I have no idea why, and it's not like 200 MH/s even makes a difference, but it makes me feel better Smiley So thanks for making it!  It works great!
2  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [390'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: September 24, 2013, 12:41:55 PM
Just for those wondering if the pool is having issues (pool overall hash rate drop):  MegaBigPower began solo mining today, which means the previously fastest user is no longer on the pool.  It's sad to see them go, but it was going to happen eventually (just like ASICMINER).  At least it will remove some of the "omg BTC Guild is 51% again" feelings...til the next time.  Happy mining all.

Thanks for letting us know, I was wondering why the hash rate dropped so much.  It's okay, my 24 hour earnings bumped up Cheesy

5  Bitcoin / Mining support / PSU For Anker 9+1 Hub? on: September 19, 2013, 04:14:03 PM
I read somewhere on here a few days ago about how some people who were using the Anker 9+1 Hub bought a separate PSU (I remember seeing one that someone recommended that was $7.99 on Amazon) and they fixed it.

I have 9 BE's running on one of these Hubs and every 1.5 hours or so, one of the BE's will stop running and the LED will go solid green.  I think it's a power problem, so I was going to buy a new PSU and see.

Anybody have a link to a separate PSU i can buy for the Anker 9+1 Hub that is stable and gives more power?

Thanks!
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How long does the Bitcoin-QT cleint take to sync for newbies? on: September 16, 2013, 06:53:29 PM
I downloaded it in ~23 hours two days ago.  Not too bad, but I have a fast internet connection.

Don't have an SSD, and the machine I downloaded it on is an older machine.

Some probably long forgotten about or lost...

Is there a way to see when the last time was that those addresses were accessed?

I'm not sure what's going on.

I have an older machine (Pentium 4 3.0ghz, 2GB RAM, Windows 7 though) and it took me ~23 hours to download the whole thing.  I'm running WSE as far as antivirus goes.

I have relatively fast internet though?  Huh Huh

Hi, I'm in the UK and have never been a member of the NUM or the Conservative party.

You have a hardware question?

Ahhh someone older than 30 Cheesy

Yeah - I will post it in the Hardware section once access is improved as the n00b section isnt really meant for it..

Not related to the Hardware question I have, but I have just managed to use an ebay sniffer and got a New ASIC Miner Erupter USB for £27 are they actually any good?

Thought at £27 not a bad price compared to some of the gadgets I've got like the £200 Electronic Barcode reading bin.

Hello!  I'm not from the UK...and I'm also a newbie!  What do you mean by "any good."  Sure, you can set them up, and they will mine a little itty bit of bitcoins, I just set up 4 (I got them for free from a friend) and have been mining for about a day now.

I was getting that feeling Smiley

No worries, I fought with them a good day myself- thats how ya learn, and thats why we're here.

Haha one more question.  I signed up on BTCGuild and am using bfgminer to mine, because i just followed the instructions on their support page.

...is there a way to tell if they are working?  Every couple seconds one or  two of them blink green, and the command prompt box is doing stuff, I was just trying to make sure they are working ha!

Ha...if i had any bitcoins I would tip you! (you can do that here right? everyone on reddit in /r/bitcoin tips?)
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Drivers help? on: September 15, 2013, 09:38:06 PM
Which driver version did you download the v6.6.1 right? Unzipped ok? (only one for win7)

Are all chipsets and other I/O drivers up to date for your system itself?

What version of win 7 are you running, home/pro, 32 or 64 bit- normal installation?

Sorry for all the questions, but other than maybe have downloaded the v6.3, these drivers should install just fine. Its strange you are getting this error.  Is the system memory in good shape?

What is your system spec?

Thank you very much for all your help.  It's obvious I'm a newbie...I'm running a 32-bit version of Windows 7 and I was trying to install a 64-bit version of the drivers.  I found the right drivers and now the system is assigning the erupters COM ports!

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me troubleshoot!
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Drivers help? on: September 15, 2013, 08:52:52 PM
Which USB port?  There have been issues in the past where certain USB3.0 ports actually are the issue.  Try a standard 2.0 port and run your driver install again (assuming you haven't already).

I had a similar issue at first myself- turned out being the usb3.0 chipset itself (first gen not integrated to the PCH yet).

If you do have this installed in a 2.0 port... where did you get these erupters?

The front, the machine I'm using doesn't have any USB 3.0.

All of the instructions I can find online say to install the drivers before you actually plug them in, that's why I'm so confused.  I feel as though it might be something with the machine that I'm using?

Are your USB erupters showing up in device manager?  Should be showing as unknown device, that would be first thing to check.

-How are these erupters wired to your system?

Yes, when I plug them in they show up in the unknown device area under Devices.

And currently, I only plugged in 1 of them directly into a USB port on the front of the computer, I bought a powered USB hub (http://www.amazon.com/Release-Anker%C2%AE-Uspeed-Charging-Adapter/dp/B005NGQWL2/ref=sr_1_29?ie=UTF8&qid=1379267814&sr=8-29&keywords=usb+hub) that is on it's way to me, once I get it, I'll plug all four into it along with a USB powered fan to keep air moving.

So I got some Block Erupter USB sticks for free from a friend.  (They work, he's just going overseas and only had a few to play around with).

I have an older Windows PC (has Windows 7 on it).  I was following some directions to get it set up to mine (I realize that i'm barely going to mine anything, I only have 4 of the block erupters but I didn't pay anything for them so anything I can get is a great ROI.)

I went through and went to install the drivers here: http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx

But when I download and click the .exe file, I get an error that says: "The device driver installation wizard was unable to find any drivers designed for your machine. Check with the vendor or your site administrator to ensure you have the correct program."

Any advice on what I can do?

Thanks!

Thanks guys.  I've been searching around the forums and have a pretty good idea, but would you agree that the best way to store bitcoins to protect them is on several different physical devices (Flash drives)?
