Highly likely it's gone for good depending on how much you used the drive after formatting. If it was a fresh format and you never used the drive after and worked off a cloned image, you'd have better chances. You may be better off having someone that does digital forensics clone and see if they can recover. Someone that knows how to use tools like The Sleuth Kit will be able to recover it if it still exists. Autopsy is more user friendly if you want to try on your own: http://www.sleuthkit.org/autopsy/ This uses PhotoRec, which does support searching for .dat headers.

No, I strictly used GoDaddy as a registrar only and would never host anything on their garbage servers. They changed my name servers, pointed it nowhere, and removed the domain from my account so I couldn't even manage it. This was after they requested I provide permission from Bitamp within 48 hours. Bitamp told them they had no problem with me using the project, but wanted me to make specific changes to their MIT licensed code, removing mentions of Bitamp. I made those changes within the 48 hours before GoDaddy suspended it days later. They then restored it a day later with no additional changes being made. In my 25+ years working in IT, I have never had this happen. Not even with clients. Hell, they even let well known hate groups and murderers use them for domains AND hosting and do nothing about it.

They are still claiming that Bitamp contacted them stating it was a phishing site when it was only an exact and unmodified copy of their "open source" project. As far as I know, Bitamp only contacted them after I copied them on the emails when GoDaddy stated I had 48 hours to get permission from Bitamp. I don't know if they contacted them prior to the initial suspension warning like GoDaddy is now claiming. The Bitamp project was on the domain for over 6 months doing nothing since I initially tested it. Bitamp apparently got upset because my domain was coming up on the first page of Google when searching Bitamp. The only thing open source about it is the HTML/JS/CSS. None of the PHP scripts are there to see what they could be doing with your seed. It's effectively a non-functioning project other than the JS generating a seed.

If you guys are actually open source and your project has an MIT license, why do you contact domain registrars claiming sites that are hosting an exact, unmodified copy of your source code, are phishing sites? Also, why aren't any of your PHP files used in the MIT licensed HTML/CSS/JS included in the project for review?

GoDaddy recently suspended one of my domains for hosting an exact copy of your MIT licensed project, which existed for over 6 months. When I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, GoDaddy claimed you contacted them stating the domain was a phishing site. Why did you license under MIT if you don't want anyone to copy it?

All I want to know is if you in fact contacted GoDaddy first or if they are liars.

GoDaddy actually ended up suspending my domain and then giving it back the next day without me making any changes after the suspension. Made no sense and I ended up moving all of my domains elsewhere.

When I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, their timeline of events didn't match what actually happened. They then later claimed a third-party contacted them stating my domain was a phishing site. Unless GoDaddy are complete liars, this was Bitamp. GoDaddy never once mentioned anything about someone claiming it was a phishing site, merely stating they believed my server was compromised, which wasn't hosted by them.

So Bitcoiners, let it be known that Bitamp does not want anyone to legally copy their MIT licensed open source project, for they will claim you are running a phishing site if legally testing an exact unmodified copy.

Doubt it's related. That BTC has been sitting in their bankruptcy trust for years now. 

I've been getting letters from them since 2018...for a claim of $0.79. Not sure how they determined that amount. I only sold on there once in 2013 before they got hacked. Must have been left over dust cause I want to say you could only sell full coins at the time.

I started mining in 2011 and have held for almost 10 years. At the time, it was about supporting the network, not making money. Unfortunately for me, I sold a good majority on Mt. Gox in 2013 when it hit $1k. This was primarily because when I started it wasn't even worth $1 and I never imagined it would have the value it has today. I was earning 0.05 BTC/day CPU/GPU mining with a single desktop up until the first halving in November 2012. After that, it started taking about 3 months to earn the same payout with the same gear but I stopped in 2013 after killing multiple PSUs and getting sick of replacing them.

What I didn't sell was primarily only held because Slushpool had a minimum payout of 0.5 or 1 BTC at the time. Surprisingly, they never touched it despite me not logging in or mining for 4 years until ATH in 2017. Their terms allowed them to take my coins but they didn't. This is a reason why I still mine with them now and I am only still mining because of investing the dust that was left.

I sold again in 2017 and 2020 when it was $19k and bought again at various prices including $3k between December 2018-March 2019, $4k in March 2020, and my entire stimulus check in April 2020 at $6k.

You can let the node continue to run, which secures the Bitcoin network by confirming and validating Bitcoin transactions and blocks. You could use it as a wallet. You can enable JSON-RPC and build an entire Bitcoin service (exchange, buy/sell Bitcoin, etc) around it with whatever programming language you wish.

Back in the day, running a full node was how to CPU mine, which was later removed due to difficulty and profitability. I started with CPU mining on a full node when the blockchain wasn't even 100 MB and could be downloaded in a few minutes. The good old days. The amount of BTC you could mine back then in a week with crappy GPUs now takes years with the latest ASIC.

I'd never use them for hosting. I've only ever used them for domains, but considering moving all of my domains elsewhere. Who's good/cheap these days for renewals?

Also, it turns out that this may have been an intellectual property claim request from Bitamp. However, it's not clear and I'm still confused since their project is licensed under MIT and Bitamp isn't a registered trademark in the United States. When I forwarded to Bitamp's support, they told me I had to remove all mentions of Bitamp claiming it's a security/phishing issue because the domain is ranking in Google. The test domain was an exact copy of their repo with no changes and appears their gripe is solely Google ranking.

So, I've done what Bitamp requested and now informing people to not use Bitamp since it is not truly open source. What they have licensed under MIT is only HTML/CSS/JS. They don't have the PHP scripts open sourced, so who knows what their wallet service actual does. What's in their repo doesn't actually work without the PHP scripts, so somehow a broken site that doesn't function is a phishing site.

I'd personally never use Bitamp, only tested for a client, and forgot about it. 6 months later I get threatened with suspension because Bitamp doesn't like that they licensed some of their code under MIT. Just image founders of WordPress sending take down notices and telling people to remove all mentions of WordPress from an unmodified default install. If Bitamp doesn't want to honor the MIT license and won't release PHP code, how can one trust any of their claims as being valid? Use hardware wallets!

This doesn't surprise me at all. One of my client's PayPal accounts was permanently banned a week ago without notice or reason and they weren't even crypto related. They opened a business account 2-3 months ago to process orders for physical goods on their website. Legit 30+ year old mom and pop business. PayPal stated they could no longer do business with them, provided no reason, said the decision was final, and put a 180 day hold on the funds in their account. They weren't even doing crazy sales. Maybe $100-$200/day. Zero cases filed against them and all of their shipping labels were bought and tracked through PayPal. A company that will terminate your account whenever they want without explanation is probably not a company you want to be doing business with, let alone trusting with your crypto. Good luck getting anyone on the phone either. We'd leave a call back number and get an automated call back a few minutes later saying their call center was in maintenance.

Now that explains it. These l33t h4x0rz coding in Go and Python must be querying all their domains and scraping Google search results for anything that mentions Bitcoin and sending out suspension notices.

It's not like I even care about the domain. I just think it's funny and want to bust their balls.

I'm sure everyone saw in the news recently that GoDaddy employees were socially engineered to give up some domain names. Yesterday I received a domain suspension warning from their Digital Crimes Unit claiming one of my domain names was hosting malicious content and violating their Universal TOS. They linked the domain name directly as a sample of the malicious content. When I went there, all that was there was an install of Bitamp's open source project from here:

I had installed it roughly 6 months ago when it was first released on a domain I don't use, testing various wallet services for a client. I had completely forgotten about. Reviewing the files there, nothing was modified since I installed it and it's an exact copy of their repo with no modifications. Confused, I informed them that this was simply an open source project that I was testing and asked for them to explain what was in violation of their TOS.

My order shipped and they issued 1,500+ $1 coupons that can only deduct a maximum of 10% on new orders and expire 12/31. Pretty much worthless to me.

I think the increased shipping will only be an issue for anyone that had miners and PSUs in the same order where they are making you place a new order for the miners without PSUs and increasing the shipping on the new order. I don't understand why they wouldn't honor the original shipping rate being that it weighs even less now or even just modify the original order and apply a credit.

To clarify, the $3.34 discount that was applied to the new order was only applied because the new order with increased shipping was $3.34 more than my original order. They did not make me pay more, but I am paying the exact same price without getting a PSU and not receiving any true credit.

I'm more interested in seeing if I get raped or not on the coupons and I'm foreseeing there will be nothing available to purchase before they expire anyway since that's how it usually goes.

Bad news for me. They are claiming DHL increased shipping fees despite it weighing less. The fee happens to be equal to almost exactly what the PSU cost. I got a $3.34 discount applied to the new order...lol. I really wish Canaan would offer some better gear already.

I'm still not entirely sure what's going on because I did use the link when I first received it, chose wire transfer but never paid, and the order ended up getting cancelled and deleted. I never heard back from the person that originally sent the email and updated an existing support ticket. Support finally replied to the ticket. They deleted my original order from May, added this new order back stating it was paid with balance, but sent nothing to compensate for missing PSU. They're also stating delivery may be delayed until after November 10. I am now wondering if the coupons will be based on original expected delivery date or new order date since the original order and expected delivery date is now deleted. Based on what they are claiming to send for coupons, it's already at close to $1500 for a single miner.
