1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Verge on an upward trend on: January 09, 2018, 05:51:42 PM
How is Verge going up, when every other currency is falling? I don't see any reports of a positive news from the XVG community.

Disclaimer: own a decent size portfolio of XVG, and would like to have the scoop.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who had NVIDIA in their investment Portfolio, besides Bitcoin? on: December 31, 2017, 09:28:20 PM
Nvidia do you mean the biggest gaming companies in the world if that is the how it means that this altcoin is very important and is really promising can you reflect on which exchange we can find it ?

Was talking about the Nvidia stocks..and not any altcoins by Nvidia
3  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best exchange for trading cryptocurrencies in USD on: December 31, 2017, 09:13:01 PM
@ljiljan02 don't you know that posting referral links/codes isn't allowed?

You want to stay on a single exchange? This will help you find it out https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/

Well I didn't know that is again forum policies too.
Nonetheless, the page in coinmarketcap is darn useful. Exactly what  I was looking for
4  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tax filing and Cryptocurrency Earnings in US on: December 31, 2017, 09:06:26 PM
the very thought of the capital gain tax involved scares you off the moment you think of cashing out. One can only hope that it was a good deterrent so far, if the predictions for 2018 stay true
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who had NVIDIA in their investment Portfolio, besides Bitcoin? on: December 29, 2017, 09:09:19 PM
Wow, that's indeed a lot! Well, nvidia grew mainly because of Crypto Currencies. Try to buy GPUs now, those are sold like mad, and if you find any, boy, the price is going to be 40% higher than the regular.

Any GPUs that you know of that is expected to hold the similar kind of monopoly that nvidia once had (probably still has) in coin mining ?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who had NVIDIA in their investment Portfolio, besides Bitcoin? on: December 29, 2017, 07:22:45 PM
I guess it is becoming more competitive for NVIDIA, with ASUS and MSI coming up with decent and cheaper alternatives. Would leave it to an expert miner to tell how they compare.

Besides, I think the current price of NVIDIA already reflects the expected growth till 2020 and beyond. Unless there is some major tech breakthrough that NVIDIA has up their sleeve, I don't see any more upside. After all stocks are more fact based and less speculative than cryptocurrencies  Smiley
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Trade for Ripple on: December 29, 2017, 07:05:39 PM
Bitstamp offers a XRP/USD trading pair. You can even deposit using credit
card from the US. I´m not sure though, whether you can deposit without
verifying your identity. This might take a few days with the current surge of
user registrations.

Nevertheless, I think this is your best option for now, because Coinbase still doesn´t offer
Ripple trading.

Yes, waiting on BS validation for over a week now. Hope it turns around soon.
Between, any confirmed news on Coinbase adding XRP; there were rumors about it, but the topic has gone mute off late.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Trade for Ripple on: December 29, 2017, 06:59:30 PM
I have the same problem with ripple.
Where can I buy without a complicated registration? and wallet Exodus for some reason does not support.
 Huh

If nothing else works out, try Coinbase (buy BTC) plus Binance (BTC to XRP).
If you can get Kraken to work in your region that may be the  best I believe.

Individual buyers and sellers enter details on Form 8949 (Sales and Other Dispositions of Capital Assets) which then feeds a summary to Schedule D (Capital Gains and Losses). Short term net gain is taxed ....

Thanks, very helpful indeed !

Deposit your bitcoin to an exchanger like Poloniex.com  deposit BTC in there and exchange for XRP for low fees. Sadly I don't know how US legizlation works

Coinbase and Binance worked for me, but think fees ended up on the higher side. Let me give Poloniex a try !
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Bitcoin on: December 29, 2017, 06:21:24 PM
Is Bitcoin mining available to general public, as Ethereum is?
If so, can someone point me to the instructions. I couldn't find any.

It's available for everyone. But it's like manufacturing cars. You can assemble one for fun at home but is only profitable to the industries.

That guy doesn't know what he is talking about.  Mining is profitable to lots of home/small scale miners.  You are in the wrong section of this forum though.  If you want to know specifically about mining BTC, go to the bitcoin mining section.  This section is for fucking altcoins dogg.  Just don't create anymore threads like this one.

But ... If you ever thought btc mining was not open to the general public, you have a lot of fucking research to do, before you start mining.

Start by asking Siri or Alexa and begin your venture into the rabbit hole.  Read this forum until your eyes are bloodshot every day for the next 2-4 weeks.  When your eyes get too bloodshot to read any longer in a given day, listen to crypto content.  Come back and begin asking legit questions to clarify what you don't completely understand about what you've read.

Caustic, but appreciate the information !

Wish I had NVIDIA in my investment portfolio. Notwithstanding the recent ~10% loss in value, all the mining buzz had took NVIDIA stocks up 2000% from early 2013. That is about 5 times more than that of Bitcoin.

Why don't you get Ripple directly from the exchangers ?

How do you do it? Is there an exchange available that will let me trade in Ripple (with USD) directly. Gatehub possibly does, but I am having a tough time getting validated in Gatehub. I do not know of another direct XRP exchange in US
15  Economy / Exchanges / Best exchange for trading cryptocurrencies in USD on: December 28, 2017, 07:48:17 PM
Is there a single exchange available where I can buy (or sell) all major cryptocurrencies (say, current top 10) in USD , and has been consistently performing better? As of now, Coinbase along with Binance is kind of my go to option, though it doesn't cover all the major currencies that I want to build a portfolio of.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Trade for Ripple on: December 28, 2017, 07:41:59 PM
Why is it suddenly so hard to buy Ripple? IS it because of the recent increase in popularity or interest in the currency? Changelly that was a stable platform to trade for XRP seem to have taken Ripple completely out of the options.
17  Bitcoin / Legal / Tax filing and Cryptocurrency Earnings in US on: December 28, 2017, 07:33:26 PM
As the tax season starts soon in United States, how is cryptocurrency earnings reported and taxed? Are there any new mechanisms/notifications issued that tax filers need to be aware of? Wonder if service providers like Turbotax or H&R Block are going to factor in the fact that many individuals would have already made a windfall from the winter Bitcoin rally.
18  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What If Govt makes BTC legal in India? on: December 28, 2017, 07:24:23 PM
That would be a step in the right direction if the so called intent of *digital currency* associated with demonetisation in 2016 was genuine. In fact, I would hope that there are some serious discussions underway already, while there is none. Paytm that was suppsoed to be the biggest benefactor of demon in 2016 isn't even doing great if the hearsays are true.

Notwithstanding the government support, crypto adoption in India is increasing at an alarming rate; so who cares about what the government really thinks about it.
