Some of the videos are hilarious by the way.  I don't know who did them, but they're well done.

I like them.  lol.

Heavy ixcoin trading on vircurex the last couple of weeks.  It's been the most active exchange for ixcoin lately.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: December 09, 2014, 11:17:59 PM

iXCoin has held up so strong compared to most alts out there over the past few months.  That says a lot in my book.

ixcoin still going strong

Give these reddit posts some up votes to get more visibility for iXcoin.  They are the same post in two different subreddits.

I am not meaning to rain on your parade but your foundation is forgetting one major problem with bringing back Ixcoin and it happens to be the three most feared letters in the alphabet for alts, BCX. BCX shit all over IXC several times when it launched in 2011 51'ing it several times and literally attacking and double spending all the exchanges that traded the coin as well any site that accepted it. Not only did he double spend the Bitparking Exchange, he posted the wallet address in his signature just to taunt the owner moving the coins around for show. The owner eventually just shut it all down. BCX is the very reason it died and went dormant. You might want to send a PM or two.

Huh?

You want me to ask BCX's permission?

I've got 11 letters for you:

Bahahhaaaaa.

See, people really [STILL] do NOT yet understand the meaning of a secure coin and the fact that's what really counts in this open source world and not features which can be taken from anyone, FOR FREE.

And finally, and for the LAST TIME, iXcoin has NEVER died.

Announcement:
Jeffery Smith, the CIO of CEX.io (Ghash.io), the biggest mining pool on earth, has accepted my offer for a seat on the iXcoin Foundation Board.

Proof?
So in about five months (near end October) the network stops giving bribes of 96 or 48 shitcoins when reward goes to zero.  What's then to keep people mining (or even merge-mining) it?

Transaction fees are gonna go through the roof (at 2 txns per block, perhaps 25 IXC per txn fee needed?) or merge mining is gonna be dropped.

What happens to shitcoin then?  Best get out before everyone else figures it out.

I cannot see a single logical rational argument for ending inflation and neither does Milton Friedman.

I am starting to see this as a 5 year project before IXC gains any traction, if ever, even with 1 coin per block lol.

I really don't understand where this fear and panic is coming from.

We have the full support [for now at least] of the largest mining pool on earth.

THEY HAVE ALREADY STATED that they will mine iXcoin FOR FREE, with no additional subsidy necessary.

ZERO additional subsidy required.

Now all of a sudden, the sky is falling and we need to inflate - hurry, let's remove one of our biggest selling points.

Why?  Where is this fear coming from - it is utterly baseless.

IF we lose the support of CEX.io we will then DO WHATEVER NECESSARY, including inflating, IF necessary.

But ONLY if necessary.

It would take but 1 day to change 1 line of code raising the max hardcap and adding the 1% inflation.

This debate is all really overblown [as we have discussed this already] and completely unnecessary.

Me and zebedee are trying to help you out and see sense.  I argue with everyone on this board, its FUN

Doesn't anyone see what's happening?  People are getting nervous about the rise of iXcoin!!!  For three years the strategy was to ignore iXcoin and hope it went away.  Now it has a chance to make some real progress and challenge the bigger coins.  Now some serious technical discussions are happening so people think they need to scare others away.  That's why the comments lately are coming out of left field and not making sense.

iXcoin is almost as secure as Bitcoin itself!  So someone has to threaten to attack the block chain to imply vulnerability.  CEX.io has joined the board, so that was called a lie.  The end of the block reward is coming... run people run.  iXcoin has no inflation planned after October, so someone tries to push the board to inflate.  Anything to weaken iXcoin.

I have to hand it to Vlad for sticking to his guns.  Be careful everyone when someone get's so worked up trying to "help".  Question their motives.  iXcoin is on a good track.  Damn the torpedoes and stay the course.  Let's get Counterparty out and really see people sweat.

I've been wrecking myself doing fund raisers and pitching in iXcoins myself and all along some rich a-hole (or a hedge fund or bank) with millions of iXcoins has been sitting around just laughing at us.
Those addresses look like an exchange or pools hot/cold wallet - with shuffling funds around to prevent fragmentation.

It's probably vircurex since it was the earliest exchange for iXcoin.  Cryptsy didn't open until May 20th, 2013, and iXcoin would have been listed even later.  But of course an exchange doesn't actually own all the coins.  The coins likely belonged to dozens or hundreds of different customers.

IX, the Lynx's Coin.

That's actually a Puma or Mountain Lion, not a Lynx.

Lynx gives you options for going cute or sexy too.

Hi,

I would like to start a small contest (just for fun).
Make the proposal for an animal representing iXcoin. Possibly not a dog.
Any idea? I got one but I just wait for yours.
Come on! A funny animal. Send the picture and let's connect it with IXC.
Maybe we could take away the boriness from this coin.

Lynx has a lot of symbolizm we can use.

"iXcoin lynx you to your counterparty"
"iXcoin lynx people together"
"iXcoin provides the lynx for your success"

Happy Birthday to iXcoin

iXcoin just celebrated its 3rd birthday.  4/29/2011 was the date of the genesis block.  It's grown a lot in three years... obtaining a huge hash rate, a recent major update, a growing core of  followers, and a coalescing foundation.  May the next year be even better.  We could see the integration of Counterparty, Native User Defined Currencies (colored coins), and more.

Is there a download for the new client available?

As far as I can see Ixcoin.eu is still linking to the old wallet.

New client iXcoin 0.8.6 link is here.

hey I've downloaded the client from your link and it had a virus inside

my antivirus says   FrictionlessMiner.Trj.CWin32   !?

Ha Ha.  I don't think so.
But you did make me scan it to be sure.

Has anyone actually asked the pools why they don't upgrade?  And if they've tested merged mining?  Maybe they would have some valuable feedback.
updating software on pools is risky. if the upgrade results in the loss of a block, or worse a bitcoin block, the pool can be substantially out of pocket.

has merge mining with the new client been tested? it should be easy to run a difficulty 1 'ixcoin in a box' network with old and new clients and make sure they accept each others blocks.

I assume they would not have to convert all their mining cores to the new client at once.  Maybe just take 1% and run their tests to see if it works as advertised.  I'm still wondering if any of the pools actually tried it yet.

Is that something you are willing to do and let us know if it works?  Maybe it would give the pools some incentive to accept the client if it works ok.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: March 27, 2014, 01:42:12 AM

It really is up to the pools to take the existing code and run it on their servers.

Anybody can make use of the 0.8.6 client if they want.    Worse case is the BIPS filter out certain transactions,  but that is a non-issue really.   It all depends on what transactions the pools add to a block.

I for one don't give a damn about all this 'conservative' talk about forking... that make sense with a coin like Bitcoin... but a coin like IXC that's just trying to stay afloat?  Total B.S. in my opinion.   Same kind of idiotic logic with IXC owners keeping all coins to themselves and sending just scraps for donations.

I didn't even know there was a hard fork planned.

-MarkM-

I believe the bip's will cause a hard fork.  They change the rules for adding blocks in certain situations.  We shouldn't take it lightly.  It would be very bad if iXcoin splits in two.

The block number at which they come into effect would be many months into the furure though wouldn't it?

I do agreee though that it is crazy to muddy up the merged mining test with such extraneous stuff.

We need merged mining. BIPs are way the heck less important, not worth aborting the moving to new codebase for.

Basically we should port what IXCoin already was to the new codebase first and make sure that works, before adding new BIPs or coloured coins or anything else that IXCoin doesn't already have/do. Well the memory fix stuff from I0Coin of course, since if it wasn't for the need of all merged mined coins to get that fix we wouldn't be in any hurry to update to new code at all. We don't want to break stuff we just want to fix the RAM problem the merged mined coins all had in common.

-MarkM-

Agree with you that the BIPS or colored coins will have to wait.  That is why I had originally thought of doing this  with the next release of Bitcoin.  But it appears that there is so much legacy here that we are forced to be conservative.

How much more bounty do we need to get iXcoin upgraded to 0.8.6 without the BIPs plus anything else needed so all the miners will start using it?  The latest 0.8.6 beta is like 95% complete.  It should just need a few tweeks.  Is it the bounty we're waiting on or something else?

It's seems ixcoin is gonna make it on Mintpal within a few days. It has a daily volume of 1k btc, not bad for a new exchange.
My guess: someone paid at least 2-3 real btc to get all that votes. I wonder what volume of ixc trade we can expect.

5.3747 BTC were paid so far https://blockchain.info/address/1NY4E4T6FAx5rLRKCYgnqxsUcoLfJdwDqA

Your link says 2.67 BTC.

But even so, who here has that kind of money to throw away for a new small exchange?

Completely bogus.  Nobody is going to pay that kind of money to get listed in a minor exchange.

I agree but the blockchain doesn't lie, does it?  It appears as though someone is paying to get IXC listed.  What am I missing here if this is bogus and what am I missing if it's true?

The folks promoting the scam are depositing their own money into their own address.

If true, luckily for us they chose ixcoin to place near the top.

I could have sworn it said 5.3747 BTC before.  Maybe I click a link for a different coin.  Anyway, even 2.67 BTC is a lot of money, but it's not all from the same person.
