4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: November 08, 2018, 05:10:45 AM
I am not worried for DOGE prices, but I am afraid to miss the train when prices rise.
How many times have I missed the train, because the price of DOGE last month was at 60 satoshi and then climbed again to 80 Satoshi.
I have a doubt that Dogecoin might fall to around 40 to 45 satoshi before starting its new dramatical rises, might be to 100 satoshi again.
Do you have any ideas to discuss with me?
thanks.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XLM] Stellar - Decentralized trading platform on: November 07, 2018, 02:11:16 PM
It's unbelievable, honestly, when someone called Stellar as  a scam one.
I don't know which sort of stuffs led you to judgement that Stellar is a scam one.
Please remember that Stellar is one of top altcoins.  Roll Eyes
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEN] Horizen: Bringing Privacy To Life [EX ZenCash] on: October 07, 2018, 03:32:39 AM
ZEN is POW coin and it is generated through mining..Every found block is divided: 10% secure nodes, 10% super nodes, 10% treasury, 70% miners. Other pools and miners celebrating when Supernova is offline.. Wink
The proportional distribution scheme of Horizen block rewards looks very fairly for all, Secure nodes, Super nodes, Treasury, and miners.
The most interesting thing is 70% block rewards will be allocated to miners, which somehow present the important roles of miners on the Horizen network operation.
This one also demonstrates that Horizen is strictly sticked to its original ideas to build up a PoW coin.
7  Other / Meta / Re: [Merit Analysis] "Self Made" Jr. & Member users that have earned merit on: October 07, 2018, 03:28:27 AM
It doesn't make sense!
Why I think so?
There are two main reasons:

Firstly, limiting total post per day for each users is not smart option, because when people have ideas to discuss, to contribute, to help others, they should have right to compose and publish all their ideas via threads. Limiting total threads per day will seriously violate the basic rights of forum users.
Secondly, even spammers, they will not spam 20 or 50, or 100 threads per day. It is the fact because they spam only for getting postcounts in order to satisfy their bounties' requirements. So, it doesn't make sense for spammers too.
Do you think that it will be easier for the forum if there will be a limit as to how many posts a members can make in a day?
The example here is not equally treated all forum members, obviously.
I don't think that a Ledgendary or Hero always has better ideas than lower rank users, including Newbies.
There are many many trash higher rank users due to the old rank system easily allows them to rank up.
Those types of high rank users don't be able to contribute valuable ideas/ discussions/ contributions to the forum. They always collect postcounts for their bounties, nothing more.
Quote
For example, a newbie can only make 5, a Jr. member can only make 10, until members reached full member or sr. member or other higher status? Maybe it will help keep the spamming to a minimum, and would encourage a more meaningful topics and conversation. What do you think?

In a nutshell, I don't support your ideas because they are not a realistic, meaningful new rule for the BTT forum!
8  Other / Meta / Re: Copper member statistics on: October 07, 2018, 03:20:08 AM
Just wondering, can't we ( ok, theymos) separate the actual rank from the copper membership? It's not a rank anyway. Just to be added as an extra field in the profile.
Same for the Donators, VIP and Staff??
In reality, buying Copper Membership only give buyers priviledges to post images, showing hyperlinks in their signature codes even they are Newbies.
It doesn't mean that they can join bounty with Newbie rank.
I think the forum admin has made good decision to demote Junior Members who are not own any merit, and don't allow Copper Members to have all the same rights as real Junior Members.
9  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Requirements too difficult to JR. Members on: October 07, 2018, 03:17:15 AM
HmMm.. Just like what I've said..

Knowledge first before profit

It's not as easy as you think to get merit.
Extreme effort and knowledge is what we need.
And that's the real essence of merit. It must be comes in hardwork and real effort.
It is interesting to see the topic, which has almost inactive since May, has started re-activating again, especially the new rank requirements for Junior Member rank implemented around two weeks ago.
Are there coincidence there?  Grin
I believe that the topic will become more actively because demoted Junior Members, who felt hard to rank up back, will join it more.
10  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: October 01, 2018, 05:49:01 PM
If I remember correctly till last week we got around 200.000 users accounts/multiaccounts demoted and around 2000 users ranked up again,
It is reasonable figures, which obviously explain why there were 3342 more merits distributed last week than the previous one, from 3580 to 6922.
- 2000 merits proportionally allocated to help demoted Juniors rank up
- > 1.5k merits allocated to other ranks, rather than Newbies.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: October 01, 2018, 03:33:52 PM
Second week of "new era"

Can you spend your time to collect a statistic on how many demoted Junior Members have been back to this rank last two weeks?
If you can have the statistic, it will make a lot of sense because it might explain why merit distribution rocketed last week.
12  Other / Meta / Re: Ranked member's involved with ANN bumping. on: October 01, 2018, 03:29:06 PM
Of course, spammers will come back someday after getting one merit to rank up back to Junior Member.
I believe that some of them almost ranked up immediately after the activation of new rank requirement.
It is reasonable because the merit distribution raised significantly after that day. (@coinlocket$ presented it in another thread).
Of course it's not enough--that's obvious, because we still have a spam problem.

I don't know how the forum can manage it?
It might require a lot of time for forum mods to check, verify, then accept real projects and eliminate scam ones. Consequently, forum mods will have to word under massive pressure. I think they don't like it, and the forum has already been out of human sources by now (at least in terms of controlling spamming endemic in the forum, especially in local boards).

I don't think the solution is going to come from any tweaks to the merit system at all.  It's going to have to be some rules imposed on bounty managers and/or ICO devs who want to use bitcointalk to advertise their shitty scam projects.
13  Other / Meta / Re: [Merit Analysis] "Self Made" users based on earned merit on: September 29, 2018, 01:54:53 AM
I don't have tools for this, but @LoyceV have made a great topic on this issue.
What do you need more?
List of demoted Jr. Members who were ranked up again
~
Do you have a tool for this to check on how many jr.members was being demoted to newbie rank?

Did you want to get a case study?
here you go: Full Member thanks to merit system (iasenko)
Please read it carefully.

Though there are people that has made their account to rank up but I bet these members are an extraordinary or genius when it comes to technicalities of this forum and could be able to produce high quality post from the technical aspects of this forum more likely IT experts and computer programming genius just one post for that aspect they could gather more or less 10 merits per post. So we could expect that achieving full member rank would only be a 10 post for them.

All ones have same rights to compose, then publish their threads, show off their ideas. All deserved merit threads will catch attention of forum users, sometimes got merits from readers, sometimes don't get them, but it's not too bad. At least, highly qualitied threads have higher odds to catch attention of readers. That's enough.

And in the likes of us newbie? Well, no comment. LOL
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: September 28, 2018, 01:11:38 PM
The LTC coin has grown very well in price over the past few days. It is very pleasing. I wonder how much it can still grow in the current market conditions.
Nothing impossible in the crypto ecosytem, especially in the coming bullish market.
Personally, we have been in the early phase of bullish market over the last 3 months of 2018.
I wish that Litecoin might reach 0.01 BTC for each LTC sooner or later this year.
15  Other / Meta / Re: [Merit Analysis] "Self Made" users based on earned merit on: September 28, 2018, 01:03:14 PM
Just kidding, but it's really interesting to get tons of self-made Newbies due to the latest upgrade of the forum's rank requirements which requires at least one merit to be a Junior Member.
Furtheremore, @LoyceV managed a highly informative topic on potential new ranked Junior Members after the start of new rank requirements around one week ago.

16  Other / Meta / Re: Is one merit enough on: September 28, 2018, 12:52:35 PM
For the OP creator,

For now, one merit for Junior member rank has massively affected spammers. All of them turned to Newbies, and part of them exchanged merit (one point) to move back to Junior rank.
Of course, it's hard to discover how they abuse the merit system and also unfairly to judge their abusements base on only one merited thread.
Sometimes, forum users send their sMerits away for non-sense thread without merit exchange.

In another topic, I suggested potential solution in the future.

17  Other / Meta / Re: Ranked member's involved with ANN bumping. on: September 28, 2018, 12:48:08 PM
This is why I have the ideas that current merit system is not strictly enough to stop spammers showing their shit in the forum.
Of course, the latest update made by @Theymos have made great impacts on shitposters.
As one of side-effects of the implementation (1 merit for Junior Member rank), the total merit distributed last weeks raised almost twice as of the previous one.
Please check it there with the statistics on new era of merit distribution given by @coinlocket$

I really think that for long-term solution, the rank requirements should be updated with increased required merits for each rank.
For instance, over the next 6 months, the required merit should be something like this (just my suggested merit points):
- Junior: 5.
- Member: 15.
- Full Member: 110
- Senior Member: 270.
- Hero: 550.
If a member can not get any merit over 6 months from now (in total, 14 months after the beginning of merit system), it also means that they don't have qualitied, constructive enough for the forum, in general. It doesn't mean that they are all spammers, but the automatically increased merits for each rank should be implemented in order to keep the forum as fair as possible.
18  Other / Meta / Re: is there a penalty for the merit giver? on: September 25, 2018, 03:15:48 AM
I suggest a solution to fight against slightly abuser on merit system, especially Junior Members who got 1 merit for non-sense thread to satisfy the new rank requirement launched several days ago.
The start of new ERA!

As you all can see in the table and chart above, merit distribution has been almost double last week.
Very impressive effects of new rank requirements (and of course, more merit sources accepted and acted actively).

I also give the link to helpful topic which created by @LoyceV.
List of demoted Jr. Members who were ranked up again
As the author stated, being listed in the list there don't mean that those ones are abusers.
19  Other / Meta / Re: The new rule (1 Merit for Jr. Member) is already reducing spam on: September 25, 2018, 03:12:35 AM
Unfortunately, it looks like the spam reduction is already diminishing. That can be caused by the fact that last week the number of users with 1 Merit went up 25x faster than it did in previous weeks. Many Newbies were promoted back to Jr. Member, and many of those were ranked up through Merit abuse. I also see more Newbies wearing Copper Membership now, which allows them to continue spamming their signature.
It is the important point.
As @coinlocket$ presented in his thread, the merit distribution increased more than 90% over the last week, since the implementation of new rank requirement, which requires 1 merit to be a Junior Member.
The start of new ERA!

It's also noticeable that more and more Junior Members that have 1 merit after that day.
Before that day, I believe that it is hard to find a Junior Member with at least 1 merit.
Personally, I call it as one of side effects of the new rank requirement.

Anyway, thanks @Theymos by the latest adjustments on ranking system.
20  Other / Meta / Re: How recognized are you in the bitcointalk world? on: September 01, 2018, 01:22:50 PM
You can find all DT-members here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust
It's doesn't show the history though, only the current DT-members.
highly appreciated your guide to get current DT-members in the forum.
By the way, I would like to know and expect you or others can help me: How to check the locations, IP address of forum users?
I am not a IT guy, and have not learnt about deeply knowledge, skills on those issues.
Please help me when you have spare time.
