1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Video Guide: How to make your own bitcoin mining pool on: May 24, 2014, 11:54:42 AM
I am getting this error:

chown: cannot access ‘public/templates/compile’: No such file or directory
chown: cannot access ‘public/templates/cache’: No such file or directory

i checked the git, and shows [[MOVED] Removed include and templates from public [TESTING]]

any idea if we need to do any extra step?

Are there really only 2 or 3 guys who have Dashboard problem after upgrading to latest version of Minera?

I'm talking about this message: I can't get the stats from your minerd. Please try to refresh the page or check your settings (minerd API must listen on 127.0.0.1:4028).

I m having same problem. RPI with latest commit

help.
i usb  pi (minera web) connect 10 pis g-blade(25mHASH) .. click  Dashboard ...can't see any information ,

just~~

" I can't get the stats from your minerd. Please try to refresh the page or check your settings (minerd API must listen on 127.0.0.1:4028). "

in the page.

plz help me

when i used 4pic(8 blade), ti is ok .  use 5 pic .. not ok.

Yes, there is a problem getting the stats when there are so much chips/blades connected.

Do you have the latest commit?
Please try:

Code:
cd /var/www/minera
sudo git pull
sudo ./upgrade_minera.sh

The retry to refresh the dashboard.

i do it all(successful) and reboot system, but the same problem.              4 pis is ok . miningpool  shows the minging hash is ok.

I have same problem. I use 20 second delay for miner to start after reboot. You will find this option in control panel. Also make sure ur zone setup for RPI match the time shows in minera dashboard.

HOW TO SYNC ZONE SETUP MATCH RPI.   NOW I CAN'S SEE ANY DASHBOARD so i down konw the dashboard time. ...

I don't think time zone is an issue.

Can you run Minera with up to 5 Bades? I mean the dashboard works with up to 5 Blades?

Sorry forget to mention I get this error with my 18 grid seed(5 chip). But it is weird because it is happen always 5AM in morning. I have latest compiled from github .

Wow...no pinched fan cables or anything?  How long has that one been mining up until that happened?  What type of power supply were you using?  What's the ambient temp where it's mining?

Sorry for the questions, but I've got 6 that have the 49.9k/50k mod.  3 have been running non-stop 24x7 for 2 months, the other 3 have been running non-stop for about 3 weeks now.  When I've modded them, I did add some small heatsinks to the mosfets because a little extra cooling never hurts when overclocking anything.

I suppose repeated high current spikes and overheat may help damage the mosfet, I think those little LFPAK rated for 76AMP might be possible but to allow continues drain @76AMP the pad need to be able to handle the heat dissipation of SMD mosfets. Which explain why they are overheated and blow. For same reason anything to cool this baby down will help bigtime!!
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Minera] Your next mining dashboard is here. on: May 18, 2014, 04:56:04 PM
Version 0.1.10a is out:

* bug fixes
* latest cpuminer
* added extra rc.local commands option
* added JSON conf

I updated this morning. I think that I got your 0.1.10 release, according to the help dialog.

I noticed that the JSON config includes escaped forward slashes in the pool URLs. For example:

Code:
"url": "stratum+tcp:\/\/uswest.wafflepool.com:3333",

Does cpuminer support escaped characters like this? If not, then perhaps you could look into changing the encoding used to generate the JSON.

Note that I haven't tested with your conf file because currently I'm using my own that includes serial number based per chip frequencies. I overrode your config file with my own for now.

I had no problems running it.

Minera now add serial number instead device name in the saved frequencies.

I'm just testing daemontools, next release will have it.

And for who is curious I just started code rewriting to include extra miner softwares (cgminer/bfgminer)

Just want to say THANKS for the great work. I m using it with my 20GS with no issue for last one week.

Does sendor planing to upgrade his cpuminer to support getwork protocol? I been waiting for long time something stable like minera for solo-mining.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GridSeed 5-chip USB miner voltage mod on: May 17, 2014, 09:36:28 PM

Some of the specs on that part look excessive.  You'll want to match the specs as closely to this as possible: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w4m5vu4k5jgopk8/qm3022m6_ubiq.pdf

It's basically a 30v N-Channel mosfet with a 7mOhm RDSon and a 76A ID@25c (Continuous current drain at 25c).  You'll want to match the gate charge as close as possible as well.

I burnt out that same mosfet (3022m) and replaced it with the following: http://www.ti.com/product/CSD17552Q5A.  I blew my mosfet when curiosity got the best of me and I tried to dual mine with the voltmod at 1100Mhz.  Moral of the story...don't do that.  Don't even think of doing it.  I replaced my mosfet with the one from TI and it's back up and running but it's a little crippled.  Chip 3 seems to generate some errors no matter what speed, but it still hashes and I still get around 439khs from that gridseed.

I use 39AMP ID@25C mosfet just because i couldn't find more then 39AMP. there is few pin exposed on the bottom of the board. which was isolated by thermal pad. when i swap the pad with grease, those exposed shorted with the ground. and my 12 volt was off. nothing blew. so i think this mosfet start draining the current before any other part(like FB23/24) damage. which making me think that its better to use lower amp? i am not expert on this, what you think?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GridSeed 5-chip USB miner voltage mod on: May 16, 2014, 04:55:38 AM
Well, I think I've got another case of blown FB24 and FB23. Modded 10 pods last night and one refused to hash although it was recognized by cpuminer. Opened it up and here is what I saw

I also noticed some bubbling on the centre chip and brown residue on the thermal pad.
I'm guessing the chip is gone, what are the odds the rest will work if I replace the beads? Anything I can check to confirm? Should I avoid using that barrel plug? It was working fine before the mod.  I've got a multimeter and am not afraid to use it. Thanks in advance!

Just check the continuity , if there is no short between 12+ and gnd, it should work.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GridSeed 5-chip USB miner voltage mod on: May 14, 2014, 12:23:53 PM
I presume your FB23&24 is blown? They are in paralal. So touching each other shouldn't be matter I think. I have solder one on top of other one because I didn't have any pad to solder(plz don't do that its not recommanded.)

Do u have hot air station?

Hey guys I fixed my other miner with the blown Ferrite bead, This was easy to fix because I knew what the problem was, now all miners are fine until I noticed 2 miners in the back of the group with the green lights flashing but the fan not spinning , Im like HUUUUHHHH So I pulled it apart and guess what was blown

2 Ferrite beads the ones Close together Not the ones that a far apart The ones that are Right next to each other sitting on the board like 2 ferrite twins, infact I saw another user on here claiming the same thing happening. I have a strong feeling that the cause for this was a bad power lead
/ Barrel ending, I now have thrown this in the bin.

I am sure the people who may give me advise will know what I am talking about,, luckily I have the same ferrite beads as I have ordered  these to repair the 1 x ferrite bead that I blew because I shorted out the red wire accidently.

Anyway I have now wasted 4 ferrite beads ... Basically the copper pads where these ferrite beads are meant to go are fukd, although they are fucked I was able to solder onto as I think there is still contact to the main board.. problem is when I did this and plugged the an on I instantly see sparkes and the ferrite bead goes RED hot I mean this all happens in 1 second and then I unplug it. Now I would like to ask the wizards in here, instead of throwing away 2 seeds as I feel I have 10 CHIPS that can mine but just need a way too, Maybe I can lower the frequency I dont know can I get some help here on a way I can salvage these 2 pods?

Visible issue 2 ferrite beads on each board blown, 2 boards & 2 ferrite beads = 4 ferrite beads Gone.... I do have spare ferrite beads but if there is a way to bypass these beads somehow I feel it wold be better, Even If I run these 2 seeds at 800Mhz  And 5v Fan Or something...

Please some advise would be great

Hello,

are you based in EU?

thanks

I am Based in OCeania - Australia - Sydney Smiley

check the continuity here and if it is shorted, take off the mosfet with hot air gun. make sure you take the pcb off from bottom heatsink and pad, otherwise it will not come off. i used 300 c with full air speed. took around 2 min and the mosfet comes off . after take this off check your continuity between 12v+ and gnd. you shouldn't have any short. replace the parts and put your FB back on , you will be good to go(unless there any other parts demaged!)

The top yellow arrow is the first pin on top which is number 4(gate) and bottom 1-4 pin is Drain i think. if you find a short between gate and drain in a N channel mosfet, it known to be faulty.

Hello,

are you based in EU? if you check with a volt-meter you will see there is a short between 12v vcc and ground. that's why your 2 ferret bead get hot in 12v and blown instantly after plug in. i am collecting all the chip for a project which will never might succeed , if you based in EU i can buy those 2 blown gs from you if you want?

PM me plz

thanks

looks like the install script is still missing the backtick..

if you feel like editing it, look for this area:

Code:
echo -e "Chown minera dir\n-----\n"
chown -R minera.minera `pwd`
chmod -R 777 `pwd/application/logs

add a backtick (`) at the end of logs and the script will run.

thanks it is working now.

For some reason my units are dropping like flies.  In the past 24hr three units have burned the USB ferrite bead.  I can't seem to make any connections for why this is happening, one unit has VOLT mod 1; two bridges, has been running for a month.  The other two

have "R-52 or R139" mod with 47k and 50k resistor, also been running stable for a month.  None of the units shared the same USB hub so I crossed that off the list of possible failures,  two shared the same power supply but the ferrite bead that burned is for the USB hense 5volts so not sure if that would have mattered.  I am lost finding any correlations between the units that failed, possibly just a coincidence or a weak part, but its suspicious that 3 have failed in the past 24.  We shall see, now have to order new parts and wait to get them back online.

That sucks.  Very strange also.  3 different mods, 2 different power supplies.  Same part blown on 3 boards.  Tell us more about the power supplies you have.

Both power supplies are the 30amp LED power supplies, I have checked with a multimeter the barrel plugs for each unit, and steady 12.4 volts.  The ferrite bead is the one next to the USB plug on the board labeled FB26.  Does anyone know if FB25 is the same as FB26, I would like to try to desolder FB25 from one of them and plug it into FB26 to see if it starts hashing again before I order parts.  Are ferrite beads directional or can they be placed any which way?  Any tips on a way to check to see if they will hash without the bead, IE jump the pads just to check if they will hash?  Thanks in advance for replies, I am frustrated about the death of 3 and am worried it may domino to the rest if it is something else not just a coincidence.

First check a continuity test on ur board between 12+ and 12- and USB power +/- if you see any short between them , there will be no point to solder another FB, because it will blow again. If u do find a short between any of ur 12v and 5v rail , report back. I assume u own a basic multimeter .

PS: because of ur blown FB you will not be able to use USB socket pin to check the continuity . best thing probably to check from one of the pad for BLOWN FB to ground.

Could you explain a little further how to check the power.

Make sure ur gridseed is not powered on. Take off the 12v plug from gridseed. Set ur voltmeter to continuity test mod. Put the red prob from volt meter to blown FB pad(one at a time) and put your black prob to fan's black cable. Does it make any sance to u?

You should get 2 result. Both should indicate no continuity at all.

Poopy,
12.4V is too low compared to standard 'proper' 12V switch mode power supplies. 13.80 is the minimum voltage it should be outputting under load. More if not loaded i.e. not powering anything.
The FB's are acting as high frequency filters to compensate for crappy power being fed by crappy psu's like the LED type you are using.
I am sure it's the culprit!
You can temporarily bypass the unidirectional/non-polarized FB to see if your pod will power back up. There is a good chance that the FB blew because of an overload or dead short down the line.
It could already be a new brick Wink
Good luck!

I would suggest not to jump ur FB. if u have a short circuit in ur gridseed it could damage ur computer USB port and other damage. I have 10 of them bricked! Found the PCB shorted. Disolder two PCB every single part to find the short! Which I believed sorted now.

I see this NMOS_D_PPAK_2_LFPAK_09N03 with the .brd file

I have 1 pod that came with only 2 mosfets on the board (the pod that went into meltdown)
This photo shows what is underneath the mosfet.

Thanks, I have both version. Some of the with 3 MOSFET and some 2 MOSFET. Your Q6 looks different then my 2 MOSFETs grid seed. What is on top of your Q6?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GridSeed 5-chip USB miner voltage mod on: May 09, 2014, 11:34:05 AM

does any body have the spec for this three mosfet(Q6,Q7,Q8). i haven't found any details except it says 09N03 and in BOM its says MOS 3022 and MOS 3018. i believe they are N channel mosfet.

I also try to disolder them with my hot air station with no luck. Do you need any special tools to disolder them from pcb?

Thanks in advance!
