1  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Miner Hosting - Colocation - Available May 2018 - Pacific NW on: May 23, 2018, 03:45:15 PM
I just signed up with them, excellent service so far.

They were nice enough to give me a colocation fee credit when I did not receive My DragonMint miners in time. This is an indication that they are willing to build up and maintain a strong customer base. Highly recommended.

(If you know about all the drama associated with the DragonMints, you will understand why they delivered late).

Slush as a default is good with me.

In response to unicornflex: On the Bitmain website, Bitmain refers their customers to myrig.com for out of warranty repairs.

https://shop-repair.bitmain.com/user/workOrderGuide.

The myrig link on the Bitmain site goes directly to the same website in Denver, who is also selling the Dragonmint. I know many have had successful repair transactions with this entity, and deem them to be credible for repair work.  Like most, I do not know what Yoshi looks like, maybe those that have seen or met him in real life can verify that it is actually him in the new Halong video:

so we got cases and some heat sinks, where are the hashing boards? Maybe we can get a video of those in higher resolution. None-the-less, they are going a step farther than Syan ever did...either more a more elaborate hoax or they could just be real. I hope for the latter.

@krisgt20, excellent research.

Has anybody ever had work done by Bitmain Warrany (myrig.com) and knows their legal business name? Maybe their name was listed on Credit card charges or from PayPal? Any legal business can be looked up on the Colorado Secretary of State website. I have tried the most obvious names, but nothing comes up.

Looks like Samsung will sell ASIC hardware to a Chinese company who will distribute the chips onwards. If Halong were actually to create a product, and not vaporware, the miner might have Samsung inside.

With batch four they are not requiring the purchase of 5 units, which helps me think that it is not as much of a scam.   On the other hand, similar to Syan, Halong is selling more often than Bitmain, which in my opinion, is a red flag for a scam.

I totally get that type of business model if they were a known and trusted company--with past product. This, unfortunately, is not the case with Halong. Partnering with myrig was smart, so long as myrig actually accepts PayPal when pre-sales begin again. Not that Paypal is the best choice, but it adds the ability to fight back in the case of a scam.

If Bitmain would dump product on the market to have miners nearly always available, they would own the space and kill the secondary market. In the absence of product, there will always be those who will fill the void with a scam. One day someone will come along and compete, I just hope it is Halong, but I am still 50/50 on the topic.

Scam or not? Here is a test, somebody should do a partial or full refund of their order. If it is a legit company, one would reasonably assume they would refund the money. There are enough people lining up to by the machines, they will not be left holding inventory, if the machines are real.

Does anybody know where in Miami  the demo event will be? I wrote to the organizers of the North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami and they said that Halong mining will not be there. I am really doubting that they are for real if they can not be at an established event, even as an exhibitor.  I doubt they will show up anywhere for a demo day.
Here is the email from the event organizers.

I ordered 5, that is all I am willing to risk. At this point, I am doubtful any machines will ever materialize. If 3rd party videos come out of "demonstration day," I might believe that this is all not a scam.

I will not be buying any more until actual units are delivered, but Bitmain will probably have something better by then anyway.   For now, it is wait and see for me. A real company with real products should be out there demonstrating their product to as many people as they can, not hiding the product and themselves away. It is about real people coming out and putting themselves out as much as their product, an easy thing to do if it is not a scam.

DragonMint units back on sale. I will not buy more until there is further proof. I find it odd that they have come on sale again so soon after selling out a week or so ago, especially as crypto is taking a large correction, seems counterintuitive. Just another reg flag for me.  Just my 2 cents.
13  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is Syan a real deal? on: January 12, 2018, 10:24:43 PM
Syan had was featured by various media channels. THose releases are generally handled by PR firmswho push the stories to the media. The media channels that broadcasted the stories about Syan know who the PR firm is who gave them the story and the PR firm will know who paid them. Follow the money to find out who these people are.

I also hope that the DragonMint it real in the light of SyanMining. What worries me is that they do not provide an address. In the case of SyanMining, I came to Hong Kong to verify the addresses and found it to be a scam very quickly.  If Halong is legit, I think it would be wise, and go a long way provide to assurance to all those that purchased, if they would come out with a physical address or provide another video with a trusted person, even from this group.
15  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is Syan a real deal? on: January 12, 2018, 02:54:47 AM
I want this company to be real, the product looks really great and some competition is much needed. the problem I have is when I communicate with them asking them to pay the escrow in person in Hong Kong, they do not reply. If they wanted to gain the trust of the community then there should be no problem for me to come in and pay the escrow in person, it should not have to be by wire transfer only. What is there to hide?

I get they want to protect the product from intellectual theft, but they should have a semi-open storefront and/or an actual law firm with real and permanent offices to take the escrow. A fly-by-night law firm does not inspire trust. I am literally in the hotel that is connected to the building the law firm is in, and yet there is nobody or no office to go to.

In the worst case their lack of organization is killing their profits, if they would garner more trust they could ask far more for their product. Antminer is up to $3000, Dragonmint is at $2000, Whatsminer 12.5 TH is at $1900. With a simple one minute video with a trusted name, and real reputable support companies, they would be able to charge so much more, be far more successful, and the fact that they are not is odd and troubling and raises red flags.
16  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is Syan a real deal? on: January 11, 2018, 08:23:58 AM
All, I am in Hong Kong and today I went to the supposed office of the Martin Gleeson, the law firm handling the escrow. On the website, the address is given as in the Langham Place Office Tower 516-596 Shanghai St Kowloon, Hong Kong. The office tower is a large modern high rise. There is no Martin Gleeson on the directory, I did spend some time looking verifying that I was not missing something.

I was approached by one of the elevator attendants who came to assist me. I asked for the Law Offices of Martin Gleeson, she said there are only two law firms in the building, and she pointed them out to me on the directory, none of them were even close to Martin Gleeson Law. I showed the attendant the website on my phone to make sure that I was in the correct building, and she verified that  I was. The attendant said there were some communal/shared office spaces which could be the case and that I should contact the law firm to find out what floor they are on.

I once again reached out to Martin Gleeson law by email to ask them what floor they are on. I contacted Syan by email a few times over the last weeks asking to pay the escrow in person in Hong Kong, unlike others on this board, I never got a reply from them. Tomorrow I will visit the two addresses for Syan that are listed on the Syan website, and see who or what is there.

I am not doubting that Martin Law does exist, but it is a law firm without a permanent and dedicated office, and is somewhat disconcerting to me personally. I will visit them again tomorrow if they reply.

I am going to Hong Kong this weekend, I will check out the law firm's physical location to see if it is a functioning law firm or a front. I have also reached out to Syan to see if I can pay for a machine in person using fiat currency. I will take photos and report back next week.
