The coins are not actually moving as stated in that article. It's just manipulation dust spam.

They aren't moving YET. Article says FBI is considering sell off within coming weeks.

What does Komorowski think about that ?

Now it appears to be crashing again.

Ay yi yi.  I am beginning to think this is all just a grand conspiracy to screw with me.

i bought near the top of the june 2011 bubble. it went down so far and anyone thought it was dead, i started to think it was a scam and erased everything and forgot all about it. (i had my btc at a mtgox account that got hacked) and felt sooooo stupid that i burnt almost 3000 dollars. i had to wait more than 1.5 years to break even. now those 100 coins are worth 78 k (stamp).

to pay less than $30,- seems so cheap now, but was so expensive for 1.5 years.

same with $ 1000,-
relax, you did your best investment in life. short term you timing sucked, but long term it makes no big difference.

Totally true

I hesitated to invest in 2012 - it was at 9 dollars when I first heard of bitcoin. After the Cyprus bubble I was still thinking, I thought it was going to drop to a very low price, I didn't realized the power of bitcoin then. After a few month reading I finally went into it and started mining bitcoins. During the last november/december phase I had some spare dollars that I judged better to place into bitcoins. I bought at 990. No problem with that  Smiley It reached that price two times since, and will reach twice that price maybe a few times

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will this cause France to get into Bitcoin - 75% Tax on Rich on: January 02, 2014, 01:22:48 AM
Everybody here is saying that a 75% tax is a barrier to entrepreneurship and will make most rich people flee.

Did you know that the federal income tax rate in the US was 91% on income over $200,000 (approx. $2.5 million in today's dollars) between 1946 and 1962?
Did it cause a great exile of brains and innovators?

I'm French, there's a good chance I will make more than 1 million a year in a few years, but I still welcome this 75% tax. Millionaires build their fortune on the shoulder of many people who implement their ideas, and thanks to a functioning government and a safe environment, which is payed for by taxes.
Also it's not as bad as it seems. If you earn $1'000'001, only the $1 dollar above 1 million is taxed at 70%. Plus, it is in fact a 50% tax which when social security charges are added reaches 75%

Thanks for posting!

I find it so annoying that all the people foaming at the mouth about this tax are those who will never be affected by it. Armchair libertarians on this forum, by reading some of those posts.

I'm also a reasonably high earner here in the Netherlands, and I am very happy paying the high income tax here, because the government in general provides fantastic infrastructure and a safe, secure society. Sure there are problems here but in general I feel like my tax euros go to good use.

There are definitely taxes I do oppose here -- there's a nasty double taxation scheme on savings and assets worth more than 21k, where you pay a 30% tax on a nominal "assumed" appreciation of 4% -- so it's only 1.2%, but that's slapped on all of my savings above 21k euros, and on the value of my house every year if I own it. Now that is bullshit.

You didn't mentioned the fact that this tax will be applied ONLY FOR TWO YEARS. The French elite concerned by the tax represent a few people, who usually do not show appetite for innovations like bitcoin. I don't imagine them turning the 25% left into btc just to make sure. What could have a real impact on btc price is a 10% taxation on savings as advised by the IMF - France seems to be in sights but also other European countries.

Why did someone buy bitcoins for that much?  What did they do with it?  Thought it was cool?

Maybe someone thinking its better to buy at 1,300$ than at 1,301$

Hi,

I read the OP with interest, considering argument #1. It is also the most important threat I see concerning BTC, and those who don't see it are blind. It doesn't mean fatality, but this power really exists.

Here is an interesting point of view about the future of money.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8JhmQ73Vq8

I'm more optimistic than OP concerning the future of BTC, but it is not my purpose in this reply, I just wonder how can you compare BTC users growth to Facebooks ? Both of them take place on the grid but IMHO the comparison stops here. Facebook is free and does not require (apparently) involvement. You sign in and you let uncle Sam doing the rest, while BTC by essence is costly, you have to pay for it, then to take care of it, and take the risk on you. Big difference isn't it ?

pretty good offer imho... but 25btc?  Roll Eyes no way unless xbtc drops to 100 usd...

Considering the price of Nov KnCs, Ill offer 14BTC

BTC exchange rate is at 440 USD at this time, so if you are ready to pay 25BTC at 100USD/1BTC for this BTSB you would like me to divide the price more than 4 times ? Sorry I won't sell for less than 25, this has nothing to do with BTC price in dollars, you buy in BTC and you'll get your ROI in BTC.

I see it at 580 USD at bitstamp right now.

Anyway, above 14-15 BTC there is a clear possibility to never break-even on them.

That said, at 15 BTC I'd buy it.

Even more so if you could add one of those chateau belvize boxes if they're of red wine like this http://www.chateaubelvize.com/?pge=produits&idx=19 Smiley

spiccioli

Hi spiccioli. The wine in the boxes is the same, year 2008, six magnums per box. Would be a pleasure to send you one with the stuff, but then we have to deal with transportation. How much would you add for it ?

@allinvain

Sorry for the delay. I know that "what if" doesn't interest anybody, I am just saying it works great without modification. Most of the chips work, I've listed 13 bad chips that are not dead so as sometimes they get back to work at normal average stats. The photo of the shifts I posted where it reached 900 GH/s was taken on ghash, and i shows the results for only this bitfury. What kind of demonstration would you like me to show ?

I dind't  wrote "that any bitfury kit is capable of reaching 800 GH", I just said that mine did.
13 BTC is definitly not the right price...

Whoa, you want $17K for this?!!?  So you're essentially trying to recover your Aug kit cost 3 months down the line. Nice try!  Cheesy

This kit will mine 12.37 btc per month at the current difficulty; and this is assuming the kit can be overclocked to reach 500 GH. At 400 bare minimum GH it will produce 9.9 btc. So I'd say if I made an offer it would be in that range.

Absolutely

I wanted to ad that each chip reached up 40GH with basic settings, and at top efficiency we've reached over 800gh/s. I let you imagine with what could be done with overclocking and manual tuning. When I announce 400 gh I talk about manufacture guarranteed rate. Real rates are much higher.

Here are examples of average work, without tuning up.

Also you have to take into account the very low energy (-/+ 256 w)

18  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP! Hashrate drops significantly on Bitfury - impossible to bring it up MAYDAY on: November 14, 2013, 05:20:28 PM
I took a few days to answer back in order to analyse the situation properly. It seems to have been caused by cooling deficiency indeed. After a few modifiactions of the cooling system things went much better. Thanks to both of you for the advices.
19  Bitcoin / Mining support / HELP! Hashrate drops significantly on Bitfury - impossible to bring it up MAYDAY on: November 12, 2013, 01:44:43 PM
Hi experts !

My brand new Bitfury hashrate dropped recently from normal (-/+ 410gH after a few days running) to badass (120gH since 10 hours). and i found no reason for it. It was mining on ghash.io then I though it might be linked to some pool factors so I decided to moove it back to btcguild but nothing changed. I tried to tune up modifying difficulty settings but nothing happened.
The noncerate hashrate has dropped to, but in a less significant way. Rebooting the device doesn't help. I doubt chips tuning could help so as the rig is only working 3 days so it should not get dammaged so soon. The thing is that with the actual settings it was able to mine at 500gH and even higher rates sometimes. I it is quite stressful it stopped so as I am supposed to be in my golden mining lapse.

Do you think PSU could be pointed here ?

I mine with 16 bitfury H-cards for a total guaranteed hashrate of 400gH, supplied by a 750w gold seasonic.

I lurked on the forum I found similar problems but not exactly the same. I am quite new to this so maybe the answer is abvious, nevertheless I would really appreciate your advices !

Thank you

20  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: {BitfuryASIC/BTCGuild} Hashrates Gap - 470GH noncerate vs. 420GH miningpool on: November 10, 2013, 12:40:48 AM
is there any reason you using 3 worker names? if there on the same connection id suggest just using 1 using 3 might be using unnecessary bandwidth

We choose this configuration because it was the most efficient a few hours after start. Now we've directed the 3 ports to the same worker using 1 unique name as you suggested, the two rates seem stick closer indeed, sometimes it's reversed so as pool estimated rate is higher than noncerate... interesting ! Thanks for the advice
